$7 for a legit couch coop game that is hack and slash with passive and active skill trees for each toon? Yes please! This is a pretty good game so far. I'm brand new to it, but I just wanted to drop in and let anyone curious know this game is 100% a shared screen 2 player couch coop friendly game without any fuss. So you and your gaming partner can plop down, two controllers, and get to fighting waves of baddies together on the same screen. Lots of neat strategy between the two arch type characters (tank & mage). My 10 year old is playing with me currently. We like it. It's not a super easy game, you will die a lot and the respawn system works well with a timer. Anyways, always 100% buy more shared screen couch coop games, we need more of these types forever! It's like 90's console games in that way and that's what we want. I'll update after I get a few more hours into the game or beat the game for final verdict. But so far, in just 30 minutes, we know this game is a keeper and beyond worth $7 for a shared screen coop game that we can play together without two copies, without online multi, without remote play, etc. One machine. 2 controllers. Shared screen. Coop. Yes!
thor bear do not care he smash he smash everywhere
The gameplay is fun and I like the graphics. My favorite character is Makino. It's a small, fun game.
I enjoy the game so far. It's not perfect, some controls need fine-tuning, but the characters, story and gameplay are interesting.
For just a couple of bucks, I quite enjoy this game! It's a nice little couch co-op where I can sit back and relax, whether I'm playing alone or with my girlfriend. The skill tree is well-designed, with passives that culminate in a satisfying skill expression. The lore is already very intriguing, and I can't wait to dive deeper into it. Don't sleep on this one, folks!
smashing
I want to enjoy this game. It's audio and visual elements are really charming, and the characters are endearing. Unfortunately I found myself getting too frustrated with the game. The combat is chaotic by design, so that isn't the problem. The problem I kept running into was environmental hazards randomly appearing and either dealing a ton of damage or stunning me immediately. There are obvious hazards like cannons and such, but I'm talking about a spinning ice turret just suddenly appearing, which kept happening to me as I was trying to aim an attack or right as a well charged heavy attack went off. There is no point to having a heavy attack if the game can just randomly destroy you with no warning. If you work to clear up enough space and position well, a heavy attack should be a just reward. I found myself rarely using heavy attacks not only because of that issue, which killed my characters multiple times, but because of another issue. There is no visual indication of any sort of cooldown on moves. A lot of times when I tried to activate the empowered form or switch characters, nothing happened because I was in some sort of attack cooldown that I had no way to tell I was in. The game just doesn't tell you. This issues of not being conveyed when something can or can't happen is also shared with enemy attacks. A lot of the basic attacks that enemies hit me with were hard to see. Again, the game's chaotic combat is the point, but there were multiple times my life just disappeared and I had no idea why. There was even one really egregious moment where I turned on the empowered form and half a second later went from 100% health to 0 and I do not know why. I also had an issue playing as the ranged character because aiming her attacks with any level of accuracy felt really sluggish and just not worth it, but her basic attack is so pitiful that her magic attacks or heavy attacks are necessary. But I felt like the game punished me for using those. If the game just showed players more, like some sort of aura around the characters that showed when cooldowns are off or auras around enemies as they attack, I feel like my bigger issues with the game would be solved. This game is at least only $10. I hope I'm just bad at games and other people enjoy this game. I just can't, as the game is now.
The game looked nice in principle, and the local co-op aspect was very appealing. However the game is extremely frustrating - as soon as the chapter 2, the arena gets swarmed with traps and environmental effects that freeze, stun and disable you, ALL THE TIME. You barely can complete combos before getting locked in mid animation, losing the attack. It would be fine as an extra challenge every now and then, but you lose control of your character all the time, and that makes it for a very, very frustrating gameplay. I couldn't complete 2 hours of it out of frustration. Hard pass.
