Action adventure with an apocalyptic touch. In Aztecalypse you explore a newly discovered area with remnants of an ancient culture. If you like First Person Action games set in mystic places, in an Open World with neat places to visit aside the story, you will definitely love this game!

Even though the game is currently going for $1.79 from $1.99, I cannot in good faith recommend something so broken. It has the standard Game Guru interface, with that annoying heartbeat when you take any amount of damage. There are many weapons in the game including pistols, hatchets, axes, and rifles, but when you try to pick them up a message appears that says "I'm a peaceful person." and you're only allowed to use the knife. It really doesn't matter too much, as enemies die in one to two hits. The "zombie" enemy has the worst AI I have ever seen, and I have played many Unity and Game Guru asset flips and broken cash-grabs, but this is one of the worst. Enemies give up, walk continuously into walls, and do not seem to interact with the enviornment at all. When you take any damage, be prepared for the never-ending heartbeat and the screen to light up bright red. The sad thing is that it actually helps with visability since the game is too dark, and the flashlight is your standard Steam Greenlight horror game quality type. There was nothing good or enjoyable about this game....absolutely nothing. Would not recommend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlEqtpMIRXg
Single map (I hesitate to refer to these as open world) GameGuru games haven't really been good, Father's Island is the best example; this could be a good example but it really lacks any objectives, the only real puzzle is getting a note which isn't identified by the game which makes a bridge appear & the rest of the time you are basically running around zombies in a too dark area with poor path guidance. It could turn out okay, I have yet to see a GameGuru game get truly fixed (save for I guess Alone K.W. which launched with a bug where most of the walls were missing) but if more objectives & notes are added & the lighting completely overhauled then it could be passable (for GameGuru games on Steam). Basically more detailed ramblings of the above points: - Too dark, because it is too dark, you wander off the path frequently & either get jagged in geometry or slide into instant kill water. So it needs better path design. - The ambient sound isn't cutting it, there is music in the trailer; at this stage there are too many zombie GameGuru games out there to have the players hearing the same groaning effects. - The 1 note that I did pick up, didn't have any interact text pop-up in front of that green skull statue; I just luckily noticed there was a bridge over the chasm. - There doesn't seem to be a reason to do anything, I've critiscised GameGuru games for just being 'you pick up the keys' before but this doesn't even have that; for all the 'you are there to solve the mystery', that seemed to just involve finding random corpses or walking over areas where there'd be a text pop-up like '???' & then run past zombies. - Zombies can't animate fast enough to be of any point, you can just run past them (this is a problem with all the GameGuru zombie games not just this one).
Honest game review. First of All yes i have key activation and yes the devouleper is my friend but i will try to give honest review.. I participated in the beta test and the game has moved forward much more then you can think. Yes it has multiple bugs/gltiches and it doesnt have multiplayer yet or wont have but if it gets multiplayer and so that people can make custom maps for the game it will make the game fun. PROS: Has a story (its small but it has one) Funny (its funny how zombies walk in walls :D) Has Workshop (you can make custom mods) Devouileper is listening to people (if you have any suggestion he always listens ) Is Comunity Based (The comunity is in lead of fixing everything and it can decide what they want in the game excample in csgo the Gaben thinks what he wants and adds always stupid stuff becosue doesnt listen to comunity but here the devouleper listens) Cons: Doesnt have multiplayer yet Has Bad Zombie AI Needs better Music Has alot of glitches Needs more work Cant see anything very dark. Needs pretty good pc Cant pickup gun becosue your peacefull person. Needs light option in settings. Needs Day. At the moment i woud give the game 51/100 becouse it is still in devoulepment and its not even close to be finished . Woud i suggest you buy the game at the moment: At the moment i suggest you buy the game if you want to test game/make mods/and be in early devoulepment and help the devouleper get the multiplayer in the game. Remember if you have anyuthing you can ask devouleper to add it in game and if he likes it he can add it. (i havent played the game for a while but i still remember. but alot has also changed.) #MakeMultiplayer
Lifeless and devoid of any real substance, an incredibly underwhelming experience.
The human mind is indeed quite fascinating. On one side, it is capable of elevating the human race to its greatest heights. On the other hand, it is capable of bringing the human race to its lowest. Since the dawn of Steam Greenlight, PC gaming has turned into a mass grave of shovelwares, to the point that it is now impossible to keep track of every bad games being released in a year. Here, bear in my mind that I use the word "games" very loosely... Developped by Displacement Studios and released in 2016, Aztecalypse is an adventure-horror game in first person perspective made with GameGuru. Set on an historical site in Mexico, you play a scientist who must investigate on the disappearance of an excavation team. While this sounds cliché, keep in mind that the real issue with the game is not the story itself but the fact that it has been made with GameGuru... Born from the unhealthy minds behind FPS Creator, GameGuru is a gamemaking tool that spawned many abysmal titles since its official release in 2016. Like its GameGuru counterparts, Aztecalypse is an amateurish project at best, plagued by bad game design, poor optimization and bugs. The game starts with a 20 seconds theme music featuring harmonica. Then we are greeted with a 3 minutes loading screen. Just enough to give us a bad impression already. But the worst is yet to come... Aztecalypse features one huge open map made with blocky mountains, stretched textures, glitchy lighting and shadow effects, poor level design, as well as uninspired sound effects. Due to the sheer amount of elements displayed onscreen, the framerates dip below 30fps most of the time. As for the gameplay, Aztecalypse feels more like a walking simulator than an actual adventure-horror game... Since you play a pacifist scientist, you cannot carry any weapon, except for a knife. You won't need it anyway! The zombies do very little to harm you and can be outrun easily. Not to mention the fact that the models have no lighting and shadow effect, hence why they uncannily look so dark. That being said, your worst enemy is not the poorly implemented AI and horrendous visuals, but the map as it can be really easy to get lost during your journey. The finale itself is notheworthy as it pins you against a horde of Regenerators from Resident Evil 4, that can be avoided easily by running to the chopper and... THE END... rolling credits... Considering that Aztecalypse had undergone through an intensive phase of playtesting, it is incomprehensible how it got released in this state. While the video game industry leaves room for newcomers and experimentation, it is certainly not a place for high school project, especially not GameGuru games! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWr9xbHGL1A Rating: 0.1 / 10
GameGuru flip. Nothing interesting or spectacular here. Not sure where the positive reviews are coming from, unless they know the "developer".
Aztecalypse
Aztecalypse is a zombie action game where you the player need to travel through unkown territory that is surrounded in ancient temples. Positives:

Offers 3 graphics settings, although I think High graphics looks worse than Medium. But it doesn't matter. At least a small game such as this one offers these kind of settings.
Has a very simplistic story (Could be worked upon).
A small open world, so you can explore to your hearts content, although there isn't much to see.
Two types of weapons can be picked up (Melee and Range).
Has Steam trading cards, which can be collected for badges.
Negatives:

First of all, the loading time is atrocious, it takes this long to load a game this basic?
No voice acting, when you the player speak to the 'Zombie' it's just text on a screen, it would be more enthralling to the player to know the persons voice.
You can find guns such as a Rifle and a Pistol in the camp you first come to, but you cannot pick them up because "You are a peaceful person", yet you can take a knife and start cutting at zombies. Kind of contradicting itself.
You can clip through trees and cactuses and possibly other stuff. If these objects got made into a solid object, it would be better because you don't get a sense of realism when you can walk through things.
Story was boring and didn't make sense, this is something which could be worked upon to make the game more appealing to the players.
When you get hit, you get a red screen which is a generic feature when you have been hit. But when you do, it gets a lot brighter and you can see everything, without using your flashlight which kind of defeats the purpose of the game.
You are not able to change your weapons, so you start off with a knife and later find a slingshot, but you cannot switch. For a specific situation, this would have been good.
There is a note infront a skull when you cross a bridge on the right hand side. I wanted to read this note, but unfortunately I could not.
Following on from the last point, the skull which the note is infront of, if you try and crouch through it's mouth, I actually got 20FPS which is not good.
Shortly after I got the slingshot, I fell into a hole with some water and I could not get out of it, maybe a good improvement for this, is to not make the holes too deep, but deep enough so you can jump out.
When you look out over the distance of the water, you can see floating temples. Obviously the ground had not loaded in yet.
Conclusion: If the developer works on a lot of these bugs and adds a feasible storyline, then this game would be worth the 0.79GBP, maybe even more. I hope the developer can look at these issues with the game and iron them out for a more polished game. But in it's current state, I cannot recommend this game. Hey everyone and this is my review about the game! This is a game full of bullcrp.
Interface/Menu/Settings
None!
About the game.
So... This is just one of these really bad horror games. You are a weirdo walking in the middle of nowhere on a very dangerous dark area. You apparently already know about this and you keep proceeding with the adventure. You doesn't even have a weapon with you beside a flashlight. First thing what i have noticed already. "oh a dead mutated corpse with a weapon" "I am a peaceful person". Sure.... You see there is some kind of zombie on the ground and there is something wrong with this place. You walk alone in a dark area. What does this have to do with a "peaceful person"? So if im in a middle of the dark forest, starving and i see a Deer in a distance. Suddenly out of nowhere i find a bag with a pistol inside. Will my hands also prevents me for taking the pistol. Just because im a peaceful person even if im starving to death or have to protect me? No! ofcourse not. The bag will also not zip itself or tells me to bugger off. Game is TOO dark. Flashlight isn't even having any impact at all. Zombies in this game have the most stiffest animation ever. It's like "ugh do i really have too?" There is a sound volume slidebar available. There is a music volume slidebar available. Character can't run. Jumping is laughable too... There are some graphical settings and a FOV (Field of view) Slidebar available. You can save and load the game. There are checkpoints.
Other things.
Loading takes a long time... Totally NOT RECOMMENDED! Not even worth for steam cards as he is getting profit from it. Gameguru.... Yea I think we know enough. Game will crash if you are starting up a different game. Alt-tabbing is problematic too. ------------------- I Give this game a 1/10
This is a game in the same way that me writing down a few ideas would be called a book. It's short, there's no gameplay, and there's no story. Not worth any amount of money whatsoever. It also takes 6 minutes to load the game which makes no sense for a game the size of my backyard with terrible graphics. My review may change if the game continues to see updates.
