[/h3] [h1] Gameplay: [/h1] The game is moddable and that's all that can be considered good, the risk board game idea has been done and redone and better. The original maps are small and boring because of the pitiful AI proposed by the devs. AIs have no strategy, they don't protect anything, they put all their units in one area and run like hell everywhere, the next AI does the same. Either the AI is like the devs or the devs have no talent. It's up to you, I've made up my mind, but whatever the case, this game is a calamity and yet I've given it a chance. I'm a risk addict, but these devs are incompetent at playing risk. Some of the maps proposed by the community are interesting and give the game a touch of credibility. [h3] I'd rather play this game on my own at home than play with this AI. That's how unplayable this game is. What is Lux Delux? Lux is a nearly 25 year old game that wanted to be Risk online as until that time there were no good versions of the game to play online and pretty much every PC version of the made so far was junk. Yes, Risk is a stuffy old board game, how hard could it be to make a PC / Online version of that game? Well prior to Lux Hasbro a company that over the years has sold nearly 30 million physical copies of the game couldn't figure out how to make the same game fun online. Sure, when you played as a kid the game was simplistic (but some might call that easy to learn). Sure, playing against your siblings and not so bright cousins as a kid the game may have lost its' challenge by the time you hit puberty. So what started out as a essentially as a community project became the best PC version of a game that had been around forever, everyone knew how to play, but somehow nobody could make a decent PC to play. Lux solves a lot of those problems by having a plethora of maps and pretty much every variant of Risk that was published by Hasbro and having multiple AI bots that are competent, good, bad and excellent at playing the game. On map variety; the purchase of Lux (normally less than $9) gives you access to the 2 expansions; and then you can easily download dozens and dozens of maps and variants in 2 clicks - maps that will work and your don't need to fiddle with or do anything other than DL them for them to show up in your playable game list. This point is important as many versions of Risk (including some on Steam versions) will have you pay well over $100 to access all their DLC and maps. ?WTF? People pay over a $100 to get a bunch of maps for a game that has free versions? Anyway Lux in the end is still just good old Risk but its' hassle free and low priced. Yeah the graphics are as simple as the the rules of Risk itself; but that is a bonus as the simple presentation let's you concentrate on just blasting through game after game. And if you're a fan of any version of risk you likely will play dozens or maybe 100's of games as the AI is what you wish it to be; pick easy opponents for new players and pick killer bot AI for for veterans. Lux is great bang for your buck if you like risk give a go.

Basic, but efficient conquest game "RISK" style. Lots of maps. Fast and easy games with no fuzz.

If you prefer to play casual Risk with friends where you can make your own boards, this is the easy cheap way to do so.
