About
From the creator of Lost in Vivo and Spooky’s Jump Scare Mansion, Lunacid is a horror ARPG from a bygone era. Immerse yourself in a dark, desperate world full of foes, lost souls, and hidden secrets.
Long ago, the Great Beast arose from the sea and covered the earth in poison fog. Choking out the land of both life and light, a new era of wonderous misery began.
Centuries have passed. The once hallowed halls and bustling streets are mere shadows. Those deemed undesirable are thrown into the Great Well, a pit of chaos and disease. Cast into its depths for crimes unknown, you awaken in this moonlit subterranean world. Your only hope lies with the sleeping Old One deep below. But many perils lie between you and your ultimate goal.
From the mind of horror master Akuma Kira, Lunacid harkens to a lost era of first-person ARPGs. Legendary for their meticulous design and dense dungeons, the King’s Field series was the Dark Souls before there was a Dark Souls. Long abandoned by AA/AAA developers, the mantle of “King’s-Like” is left to the humble indie. Which is great, because that's where all the cool weird stuff comes from anyways.
The world of Lunacid is bursting at the seams with new things to discover, from hidden magics to secret areas. This isn’t just the odd room with a chest in it; entire new areas await those with a watchful eye. Esoteric puzzles and cryptic hints galore are sure to confound and delight even the experienced dungeon delver.
Take yourself back to a time before dodge rolling. Swipe, backstep, block, and overcome foes with patience and persistence. Featuring a robust body targeting system and unique elemental weaknesses/resistances, each encounter becomes a skilful yet deadly dance of death. Begin your journey as a thief, knight, cleric, or… vampire? Building your character up to you.
Over 75 weapons await you in the fetid halls of Lunacid. 37 Unique spells, each with applications beyond the obvious. Finding them all, however, is another matter. Unless you use a guide. Which hey, we won’t judge.┐( ̄ヮ ̄)┌
Don’t forget to save.
Featuring dozens of hours of gameplay and multiple endings, Lunacid is a rich and rewarding take on a classic formula. Relics of past game design long abandoned lie in wait. So jump in the Great Well and let the wonders of Lunacid surprise you. Mimics might just steal your silver instead of eat you.

great
Very glad I decided to take a chance on this one. The visuals and music are excellent and really suck you into this weird, part depressing, part scary, part moe world. The secrets are numerous and varied enough to give you that genuine "Symphony of the Night" esque feeling of uncovering secrets layered inside of other secrets. Exploration is very very addicting, and the areas vary from poop ♥♥♥♥ world to sad dilapidated beauty to "oh god what the ♥♥♥♥ is that." The combat is very basic but satisfying enough, with my main complaint being that magic gaps melee to an extreme degree by midgame and blocking is nearly useless--it takes too long to end the animation, and you can't start charging a blow until the animation is fully over, and uncharged blows are weak, meaning you give up enough time trying to strike back after blocking that you might as well have just tried dodging instead. The story is my one major issue, in that the lore and setup are very good but the ending seems to come out of nowhere. Progression dialogue is very rare, so interactible NPCs tend to say the same stuff from the start of the game till the end, where they suddenly drop a planetary level responsibility on you without much prelude or choice. Without spoiling too much the literary and gaming influences are clear but I feel it could have used more endings with more choices about what to do, as well as the safe room NPCs maybe talking about your progress towards said endings, as without that your objective jumps from "explore and escape maybe" to something completely different in about 5 minutes and then you're done. Up until the end, though, uncovering lore documents and meeting the rare friendly NPC is very addicting and the thematic and aesthetic senses of the setting is strong. Overall I do very much recommend it, especially for people who are new to "King's Field"-like dungeon crawlers, because the game actually doesn't have any annoying old game QOL issues and is pretty easy aside from a couple later areas. It's spooky but not too frictional if you get my meaning. If you're playing this looking to MAKE it hard, don't use Summon Fairy lol. Also, let me hit on Crilall, I NEED grumpy vampire prince in my life fr fr

Beautiful and very climatic. I've started few hours ago, and didn't have this much fun from an RPG game since playing Dark Messiah. Can't even describe how much IO love the overal design. Amazing.
I like exploration, music, art style of the game. There were some junk playing on steamdeck. It seems games randomly crashes during cutscenes. Was a little disappointed the "onion knight" quest ended with "nothing". The main downer for me was combat. It is toooo clunky. I understand that it was this way during PS1 games, but for me combat kills any replayablity. It was still a lot of fun exploring levels and searching for secrets.
Update: ignore previous statement about the files, i am a massive goober XD Game is still absolutely amazing :)
A great dungeon crawler experience! Really enjoyed slinking my way through gorgeously (if at times confusing to navigate) made maps, rising from squalid pit creature to mighty Knight of the Great Well. The music as well, I could spend hours just staying in a zone just to listen to the music. Thanks to Tomato Gaming for introducing this gem and Northern Journey to me :^)
