I'm starting to think Kira might not understand King's Field at all. You are given the tools, from the mud, the chisel and hammer were thrust into your hands. You painted and sculpted and stretched the fabric over the stone and the bricks. All you had to do was fill the world birthed with souls and steel. Within a minute, I knew something wasn't right in the halls. I walk a bit forward and notice a hidden room that is reminiscent of the first hidden room in King's Field 1. Lone chest so I figure something is up, which it is. Skeleton pops out and swings, misses. We play the usual game of stick n' poke for what seems like 5 minutes before I get killed. Game closes itself. Chock it up to Sword of Moonlight being an old engine. Stick n' poke, same thing happens. Uh oh, is the game crashing upon death? It's an annoyance because when it crashes my monitor flickers for a bit before going to normal. 21 minutes is all I can muster. I check the Steam discussions and see people either say it's intentional/result of the game engine. This is followed up by people complaining about said game closing along with game texture bugging, controls being clunky, etc etc. Fans of the game would then say "oh, it's not for you, it's for true King's Field fans." Like a 9-banger to the retinas. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ my head and was left puzzled. 'What?" I wanted to give the game the benefit of the doubt. I turned to my actual, physical ps1. I turned on my CRT. I started up the actual King's Field, the JP original. Maybe it was clunkier than I remember, rose-tints come for us all. I beeline for the hidden door in the beginning. I can physically feel it. It's smoother to play. I easily kill the skeleton here and the other enemies in the beginning area. I stop and turn it off. "Maybe I can't separate myself from nostalgia." Perhaps I need a fresh experience. SoM is a free engine, there must be other games made with it. There's an entire website dedicated to it. Giving the game more benefit of the doubt, I download a random game. Angel Tower is the first on the list. Of course, it being JP only, we quickly move past the story and begin the game. I wander a bit, hit a teleport, enter a dungeon with an impressive looking dragon enemy. I die in one hit. Almost immediately, I respawn in the first room the game places you in. "Huh." More benefit, i download and boot up Diadem of Maunstraut. It's like cool water filling my belly. Lobster too buttery, steak too juicy. These so far have had the same controls as Lunacid, yet they're more responsive, little bit more slick. I kill myself and another instant respawn at the beginning. Even more, this time Reign is up to bat! It's a homerun with built-in mouse look! Instant respawn after death! Call the game! Call the game! It's a blow out! I'm at my limit, there is no need to waste time in this hole when there are much greener pastures. I think about the "true King's Field fans" who haven't actually played the game squawking like a couple of stuttering parrots. One last go-around. What is supposed to be nuclear bomb vs coughing baby. Tower of Babel, a game from 2003. Years of documentation, innovation and modern ideas should have prepped Lunacid for this bum fight. Flashing lights. Camera shutters snap and click. The motor of the crowd rumbles. The young buck against the ol' battle axe over the hill. Let's get it on! The squeaks of shoes. Muscles shining under harsh lights. The human gears and oil work in tandem. The air rips from punches shooting straight from the barrel. A ragged and aged shadow ducks under the bullet. Thunder cracks. It happens in an instant. An infinite microscopic moment between 1 and 2. The motor dies. Silence weighing in a ton is cut by a sharp thwack of skull meeting mat. A body crumbled into bones and rags. Tower of Babel slowly raises its fist to the air. No count is needed. DING DING DING Coughing baby finally won.

First off, go into the game files when you get the game go to dgVoodoo.conf opening it in notepad or what ever. look for WindowedAttributes and add borderless to the =, then right below it where it says FullscreenAttributes same thing but instead of "borderless" type fake. There you go the game will now stop freaking out if you alt tab and maybe you can actually get it to run in window mode because I sure couldn't. Now that has nothing to do with why I'm not recommending this game. It's because my mouse and keyboard got overwritten and I had to restart my pc to fix it. I don't know if it's the game or the controller config I got for the xbox controller because I don't have a ps one did it but I couldn't undo it till I restarted and I'm not risking it sticking for next time. I like having more then my H key doing stuff thank you. Oh and if your trying this game before the other Lunacid game, Just get that one. It won't overwrite your controls and is fun.

It's a bit of a genius idea to create a prequel in an archaic game engine and I'm furious I didn't think of it first. This game is a great prequel to Lunacid! It really fills out some of the gaps in the lore and lets us experience the history of the game world through the eyes of a familiar character. It's not as scary as Lunacid, and it's much shorter, though I don't recommend playing it first. The old fashioned graphics still manage to have a lot of modern flair due to the dev's grasp of flashy colors and interesting silhouettes! The music is also quite good, though not quite as memorable as the base game. I really hope the dev makes more games in this world-- I want to know more! To everyone struggling with the controls, it could be worse. You could actually be playing Kingsfield.
A competent throw-back to classic Fromsoft gang-gang. I've been neck deep in these types of games for an unhealthy amount of time and it's actually kinda hard to find good ones for some reason. This is good. But if you're expecting Kingsfield, this is not it. It's kinda short, it's buggy (well.. ), and it's EASY. Pretty sure I was over-leveled by like hour 1. For a freebie though, hells yeah. A few pointers for new players; Talk to literally everyone, a lot. SAVE, a lot. BUY THE MAP MIRROR ASAP. S'good time. I rate it
its fun but not straightfoward at all, i get stuck without tutorials
Honestly a nice casual experience if you simply want to scratch that King's Field itch. I've played the previous title and find the downgrade in overall quality and polish to be brilliant. I won't spoil anything but this is a clever way of slotting the game in the timeline of the two while making it feel like a natural evolution. My only minor complaints would be that I wish there was a bit more story and maybe a few more characters to interact with. Another thing is that once you acquire a certain sword, there's nothing for you to do with it as you've already beaten the game. Kinda like the first game with the Lucid Blade. But I do love that it expands on a important character from the first game. It doesn't explicitly say who but if you know you know. Tears of The Moon is definetly a experience worth trying out. And it's free so why not?
Probably good but the loud intro sound(which isn't affected by the ingame options) and constant fullscreen adaptation which changes all other app's size and position on the screen is just too annoying, it happens between every new loaded scene. But then again very probably a good game, the Kings Field gameplay style is really nice.
