Lumote is a unique puzzle platformer with 2 worlds, 2 playable characters and a bunch of collectibles exclusive to the first world. The first world is huge with 6 towers and 60 puzzle rooms total. Once completed, a second world is unlocked with a new character. That one has 25 puzzle rooms, the puzzles are slightly less complex, favouring platforming and timing a bit more. The game’s graphics/style is absolutely dreamy. I think it’s supposed to convey underwater which is pretty convincing. I prefer to play the game at night with the dark backgrounds and neon light colours. The puzzles are generally satisfying. At first, I was still trying to figure things out and wasn’t sure what was happening, then it clicked with the second world and I was eager to replay the game for a couple of achievements. The sound effects are generally very high quality, although I don’t remember if there was any music used aside from a few specific moments. The game is pretty polished all things considered, since the puzzles can get complex and require lots of testing from game testers. The game does have some flaws, a few are more severe than others. Let’s start with the minor ones: the story and graphical style not offering enough variety. The story is shown with 2 cutscenes (the beginning and ending) and they don’t make sense or don’t say much. It’s such a small part of the game that I would have rather we had none when it’s that vague. The graphics look absolutely beautiful but they don’t change at all, whatever you see in one screenshot is all you’re getting. The severe flaws are the exhaustion caused by some puzzles and the speedrun achievement. Look, I’m a pretty big fan of the puzzles, more than other reviewers complaining about them. But there were a few that required many steps. It’s already tedious having to go through those steps, but imagine dying and having to redo them from scratch. Some of those rooms needed some trimming to keep this annoyance to a minimum. As for the speedrun achievement, I’m not just talking about it as a person who dislikes these type of achievements anyway, this one is super awful because world 1 is long. If my memory is right, it might have taken me between 8 and 12 hours to complete world 1, 12-14 hours the entire game the first time. The devs want you to beat world 1 within 1 hour and 23 minutes. Beating all the 60 levels with 2 minutes each would be around 2 hours and believe me, that is still incredibly fast in an uncomfortable way. They called the achievement beat the devs or something similar. Just because they can do it, it doesn’t mean it should be added as a challenge. A 2.5-3 hour speedrun achievement would have been far more appropriate for world 1. I managed to get it on my third run with an exploit that allowed me to skip tower 4 and 5. I wouldn’t have been able to do it otherwise. Lumote is definitely a good game that can be appreciated by puzzle platformer fans. But it requires patience and dedication due to its flaws and a few demanding achievements. I understand why the devs went with the price of €20, but €15 would have been fairer imo. It’s a game to get on sale or with a bundle if you know what you’re getting yourself into and you’re okay with the things I mentioned. According to steam, it took me less than 19 hours to complete the game and get all the achievements. This includes completing the game fully 2 times, doing world 1 a third time and restarting world 2 for the no death achievement.
Wholesome. Creative. Pretty.

This game is so perfect for me! Please keep surprising people with more puzzle games!
This semi-hesitant recommendation is predicated on the game being cheap enough that you don't mind tapping out at the "halfway" point like I did. I finished all of Lumote's base content, feeling relatively satisifed. I felt like the visuals and music were overly repetitive and some of the later puzzles pretty finicky, but I had an alright time overall. Unfortunately, World 2 continues to have largely the exact same visual and musical aesthetics, and did not provide any indication that there would be new mechanics to keep things fresh (but *did* provide indication that things would be significantly more finicky) - so, not wanting my opinion of the game to tank, I stopped playing. For $4, 5 hours of reasonably challenging (albeit very visually repetitive) puzzle gameplay is a plenty good deal, so I feel comfortable recommending the game on that basis.
nothin crazy, deserves more attention tho
fun
a good game with cool atmosphere and funny little jelly thing
I LOVED Lumote! What a fun, adorable game. It was the perfect level of challenging. The puzzles were unique and interesting, and I had a really great time getting through it. The atmosphere was totally my aesthetic, and all the cute little noise the Mote made had me smiling so much. If you love fun puzzle games, this is definitely worth your while!
