Reviews
Luma Island strikes the perfect balance between cozy farming and puzzle solving for me!

Zeer mooie graphics, gemakkelijk te volgen of vrij te spelen verhaal
Yep, totally worth buying! Fun and feels fresh. I've had this in the list for awhile, but the playdoh looking NPC's kept me from being excited about a Stardew Valley clone. But wait, everything else art wise is great. It's a beautiful, detailed world. Pretty as well as useful... I can spot cotton plants from a distance to make fabric from, for example. And it's not a Stardew Valley clone either. There's fishing, crafting, mining, farming, etc., sure. But right off the bat, players choose 1 profession from 8 (and can get more later.) I chose Treasure Hunter, and my guy doesn't need to farm to do that. Fish up sunken treasure, mine, listen to my dog spotting more hidden treasure, and craft stuff, yes. Farm, no. I imagine that cook or brewer would involve a lot more farming. There are lots of puzzles. They're satisfying for me, short and pretty easy. Might be boring if you like hard puzzles, but solve a little puzzle, get some loot is rewarding. There are lots of temple ruins, and rooms with some death traps (spinning blades, spear floors, etc.) Dying is just a reset of that room, not the whole temple. Maybe archaeologist profession is more challenging. The game has 3 difficulty levels, with adventure being the one I've tried. There's apparently a passive creature mode and a harder mode too. The NPC's have a little personality (no voice acting) and need things like their store or pier repaired after a natural disaster. There's a story that unfolds as I play, and a quest log that shows me the next step to do in the top right (just for 1 pinned quest.) By default, a little trail shows me where to go, but that can be turned off in the settings, I think. More on how it's not Stardew: infinite inventory, no energy meter, and sleeping is optional. Instead of managing and getting frustrated with that, I have a lot of fun progressing my profession, exploring new areas for new stuff (shiny stuff stuff stuff!), and upgrading tools with some of that loot. There's a great rhythm of go travel and gather, loot a new ruin, go home to craft, improve gear, and repeat. All of that is a lot of fun. Quirks: The hit boxes with tools seem pretty vague and haphazard, but the game does a great job of guessing what nearby thing I want to use the selected tool on. So instead of fighting that, I just chop an extra fern while trying to chop down that tree, for example. No worries, since I'm not going to run out of energy or pass out from staying up too late. Combat is forgiving, with the whip hitting anything in range from just about any angle except facing directly away. Fast travel is there, but not obvious. I bought a blue print for a bike, which stays still once I build it on the farm, but teleports me to mid town, for example. There are other blueprints for other areas. The game has been very stable for me, with no bugs other than the quest hint pathing very occasionally sending me the wrong direction. (Not a problem.) I'm playing on Linux, and it just works.
