For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. I don't like leaving negative reviews for indie games. I dont think its a bad game by any means i just dont think its as ready as it could be for its curent price point. And i can see this is a passion project for the dev working on this game. Seems incredibly nice and has been communicating with players. And i also didnt want to be one of those people leaving a review after 40 minutes of play. But its really all the time you need if youve played similar games. And i do definitely think this game has potential, i just think it needs more time to be worked on before i come back to it. I just think in its current state there are other titles that do the same thing for 5 dollars that are more fleshed out than this one. I know its early access but still a point. The one thing that seems to be a main complaint is the combat feeling unfair. I also sit in this boat now. After watching other people play it via videos on youtube and twitch streams, i thought these players were losing so bad because they simply must have not been understanding how to build their guys. But Now from experience, On my first attempt i played 4 matches. Each time my guys got completely obliterated, just like everyone else i watched. First match was a 4v4 and all four opponent gladiators were left alive while all mine got wounded. Same story for the next 1v1, and same for the next 2 matches which were 2v2's. Almost gave it a final try for a 5th fight but that started going the same way and i alt F4'd. I normally dont get frustrated or mind losses especially in games like this. But when you lose 4 times in a row the same way, something feels off. Especially when youre guys vs theirs are mostly even across the board as far as HP and gear goes. At the very least in team matches you'd think at least in one out of 4 id take down a single gladiator even if i lose. So i can definitely see the frustration here. My thoughts on that, if im comparing it to other games in the same vien is that this game lacks pre match transparency. And what i mean by that is you get absolutely zero info pre battle on the other teams fighters. You cant compare your guys stats and gear to theirs so youre just blindly picking people taking a shot in the dark on whether theyre actually good for the match up or not. I think a lot of the frustrations people have revolving around losing frequently is this issue and i think just having the ability to pick what gladiators i need to throw into a match based off being able to see the stats and gear of my opponent would go a long way. Although that might be a conundrum in regards to multiplayer now that i think about it. Gameplay wise thats really the only gripe i have. Is that the fights feel really unfair right now. The only other complaints are just Unclear or odd UI choices that do make the over all experience feel frustrating at times for me. -One being the market. All the items there are incredibly greyed out. Not sure why that is. But visually its hard for me to tell what im looking at, at a glance unless i have my face real close to my monitor. Same goes for the roster screen. When i go to equip a guy with equipment the equipment slots at the bottom are incredibly grey washed out making it hard to see whats what. Just wish there were some brighter color choices in these areas. -I think, especially for new players, when you start a new game and you choose your club, theres no information on any of them. Theres no real information letting the player know if any of these different schools are actually different to any degree, even if its just at the start. Supposing there are differences to each club it would be nice if that information was provided. Couldn't imagine with how many schools are available there would be no differences between them. If there are no differences between them it might be a nice idea to ask if you want to play the tutorial by that point and then have the fact the schools are all the same and which one you pick doesnt matter. A little confusing as a new player. -The ability to rearrange Gladiators in the roster area would be nice as well as an easier way to see whos equipped with what at a glance. Having to see who has what equipment on the second page only where you have to click one by one through each character can become a bit tedious. Would be nice if that information was given on the first page where you can see everyone at once perhaps right under their names. -I think the whole tactics page where you can set up gladiator formations is a really neat idea. However i had a hard time implementing it. When you go to the tab where you can edit and save different tactics it just gives you a number for the gladiator, same with when youre choosing a tactic for a match pre match. Which doesnt help me know what gladiator im bringing in is filling which spot. Would be nice at least when choosing a tactic pre match if there was a way to choose which gladiator was going where. -vsync doesnt seem to work properly at the moment. which probably isnt an issue for most people. But if you have a monitor thats still working off 1080p like mine and you need vsync to stop screen tearing you a bit out of luck here. I seem to get just as much screen tearing with or with out vsync on. -Only other UI element i find annoying is in matches the gladiator names are displayed in quite large very bright white letters which makes it hard at times to see whats going on. Might be nice to have the names off by default and just be able to hit a toggle hot key to turn the names on and off when needed. I will say im still excited for the future of this game. Its got tons of potential here i think. And like i said before the dev seems like a really cool dude and seems to be working on the game quite a bit. Just think some things need some more work before i try it again. And thats mostly because the battles feel more like a frustration simulator at this point. Completely understand your guys just doing their own thing in matches where youre just in control of managing them and trying to set them up for success. Thats a part of team management games i really enjoy. But it just feels bad when no matter what i try, the other team just absolutely consistently rails my guys for reasons i cant seem to change or improve. Not returning this one, it shall stay in my library. And ill 100% change my review later down the road once some updates come out. Just for me personally im going to wait until it has some more time to develop. Just can't really recommend at the moment when there's far less expensive games that are similar that are currently less frustrating to play and have had more time to be fleshed out. I hope nothing but good things for the future of this game and the development cycle for both the games dev and the game its self.

Neben seinem 9 to 5 Job, neben seiner Familie. D.h. Abends und Nachts. Ohne Budget, ohne Team ohne Publisher. Shame on you!
The game has a lot of potential, but I would like to see more money given for battles, as well as the ability to place bets on team victories. I would also like to see more diverse battles, not just the season, and I would like to see improvements to the graphics and optimization. There are many things that could be added to the game, and I would like to see it continue to develop.
⚔️ Ludus Magnatus: Gladiator Manager Simulator
Truly not worth the money as it is now. MAYBE if it was 10 bucks or less but even that's pushing it. The combat is the worst part of the game. Though you have no control over it as the battles are automatically played out and can only set tactics (which ostensibly seem to do nothing at the moment) the AI is absolutely terrible and the combat is just as janky as it comes. The computer seems to get confused on who to target when there are multiple enemies around your gladiators and will just whip back and forth between multiple targets, not attacking any of them but getting hit by all enemies because it can't choose who to attack or block against. Your guys will also frequently just stop attacking enemies who are one shot from death and switch targets to much high health enemies instead of finishing their current target off. This puts you at an immediate disadvantage in battles as it tends to be that whoever gets the first kill wins since the ai can't seem to handle being outnumbered even if your gladiators are stronger stat and gear-wise than the enemy team. Outside of the various combat issues my biggest gripes with the game are the lack of itemization, the insane costs of upgrades and items, and the brutal difficulty spike when you lose any of your best gladiators. Items are bare bones as mentioned by other reviewers. It's literally just +damage or +defense on armor or weapons and there are a few tiers of each that get increasingly expensive. So no matter what type of gladiator you're creating (a dual wielding one or an axe and shield guy, etc...) they all wear the exact same armor and outside of a 10% damage bonus for using certain weapons based on their ethnicity there's no difference between using one weapon or another. All the weapons and armor as well as the training ground upgrades are also crazy expensive. I've not even gotten close to having much in my ludus upgraded besides one or two things and having five gladiators in tier 2-3 gear and weapons in over 10 hours of playing which is basically not much past where you start in the game. You make about 300ish coins per win (one gladiator match per week in game) and can do one exhibition match per month which gets you a few hundred more coins. For reference some of the best gear costs around 6000 coins and that's for one single item out of five gladiators you need to gear. The worst of it though is having your gladiators die in matches, which happens frequently, and is often completely random and unnecessary (I've had matches end where three of my guys are working on killing the last enemy alive and one of my guys gets killed in the 3v1). Especially when you lose one of your top gladiators or multiple in a single match it can trigger a brutal cycle where you're forced into fielding gladiators on your roster who aren't ready to be in the arena and then they just die and you can never really catch back up. I've completely quit a couple campaigns because there's just no coming back after my best 2-3 guys die to a tough team in a single match. It seems a little silly but I would highly recommend turning off deaths as well as heroic/godlike gladiators in the settings unless you're a total masochist and enjoy just having your guys die to BS. Anway, long story short: I'd either wait on this one until some solid changes are made in future patches or if you're that curious wishlist it and wait till it's on a serious sale.
Loving the game so far, its a bit rough here and there but the game is very enjoyable! Dev is updating and responding to discussions, looking forward to the future
