It was okay but less content than I expected for $5. Some puzzles were incredibly vague and I needed to use thie hint system. I might be a critical reviewer but it got pretty boring after you stopped unlocking new wiki pages. It's a wonderful concept though, I just wouldn't recommend buying it until it's on super sale. If a sequel comes out with more content then I would buy it because I adore the concept so dearly
game is really cool and immersive, love the vibe. aura loss on the login section because you click the boxes to type letters instead of actually typing, def wouldve felt cooler lol
wow, this game is genuinely amazing! the art, sound design, story, and overall atmosphere is fantastic and well curated. the immediate allure of solving a mystery is what really got me and it definitely didn't disappoint!
I honestly can't figure out why this game has such good reviews. The aesthetic is nice and the wiki idea is cute, but nothing about the core mystery is mysterious--the big reveal is obvious very early on. I also question the logic of putting the answer to the only clever bit that might have taken any thought to solve--
the glasses
--in the game trailer. The only difficulties in it come from inconsistencies in the information it gives you (e.g. 'Mayor X started Project Y in this year', but he wasn't actually the mayor in that year and isn't described as having any other job that would allow him to start the project). Other times you just have to brute force guesses because the information isn't specific enough to know who played what exact role in events
like the last ritual
(and the cast is small!). The timeline is also nonsense, or at least not adequately explained:
we are told Liliya/the Witch doesn't age normally because she takes the medicinal herbs, but the whole family would be EXTREMELY OLD by the time the game events take place: Atyla and Mtislav both had to be over 100 years old, and presumably Jan is at least in his 70s. It is simply unbelievable that no one would notice or remark on this, especially since the game implies that Liliya is the only one whose lifespan is unnatural.
Lastly, the English isn't great, and I don't think it was an aesthetic choice to match the locale. It took me out of what story there was, and occasionally makes the puzzles less clear.
It was a really captivating experience. The pacing was superb, it had me on the edge of my seat during the whole game. My only minor complaint is that some "solutions" can feel a bit vague. Who wrote a letter to who when they wrote to each other? In these 2 or 3 cases I found I needed to kind of brute-force the solution from the available options, but it was mostly a non-issue. In terms of the length I felt it was just right. Looking forward to more games like these!
Quite short, but really good with a great atmosphere and an engaging story. Totally worth the money!
Very well done, tidy mystery. About 1.5 hours of gameplay if you're familiar with the genre, but enjoyable and well crafted.
I love wikis and I love mysteries. The atmosphere was lovely retro. Lengthwise the game left me in a spot of wanting for more. If they release more of these types of games I would consume them as others might consume books of their favorite authors. Return of the Obra Dinn which is one of my favorite games feel very close to this experience.
The only bad thing about the game is how quickly I finished it.
