Lost Luminosity is a horror walking simulator that takes place primarily inside a creepy apartment. The game takes around approximately 1.5 hours to complete. There are 2 endings. + The atmosphere and graphics are spot on, almost photorealistic at times. + Loved the level design of the apartment. Many crawlspaces and secrets within. + Genuinely scary. There are 2-3 jumpscares that will make you jump out of your skin. + Sound design is minimalist, but very eerie. Had goosebumps. + The story is simple, but original and interesting. + The game is polished and runs well. + Puzzles are balanced, no guide needed. +/- The game is somewhat short but priced accordingly. I wish it was longer. Above average for the genre. Play at night in the dark with headphones. Looking forward to what the developer does next. Overall: 8/10
Decent little horror game. Movement speed is very slow though.
Just because you can make a video game, doesn't mean you should.
Nettes kurzes Spiel.
I spent the first five minutes on the second floor refusing to go downstairs because I was too scared. I spent the rest of the game whining about being too scared. Wonderful game with the perfect amount of jump scares in all the right places.
Lost Luminosity is a first-person psychological horror adventure developed and published by Ember Wing Games that favors storytelling, atmosphere, and emotional tension over traditional action-oriented gameplay. The story follows Sam, who returns to his deceased mother's apartment after her passing in a psychiatric institution. What begins as a seemingly straightforward task of sorting through her belongings soon spirals into an unsettling investigation filled with disturbing memories, supernatural encounters, and long-hidden family secrets. The narrative steadily transforms the apartment into a place where reality and hallucination appear to blur together, encouraging players to question everything they discover while piecing together the truth behind Sam's troubled past. The game's greatest strength lies in the way it builds suspense through its environment instead of relying solely on frequent jump scares. Every room feels intentionally designed to tell part of the story, with abandoned possessions, unsettling details, and carefully crafted lighting contributing to an atmosphere of constant discomfort. Exploration is rewarded with notes, clues, and environmental storytelling that gradually reveal the fractured history of Sam's family. Rather than rushing players from one frightening moment to the next, Lost Luminosity patiently allows tension to build, making even simple acts like opening a door or walking down a familiar hallway feel unpredictable. This slower pace complements the psychological themes at the center of the experience and keeps players engaged through curiosity as much as fear. Gameplay revolves around exploration, puzzle-solving, and uncovering narrative clues that unlock new sections of the apartment. The puzzles are generally straightforward and designed to support the story rather than overshadow it, although there are occasional moments where progression can become slightly unclear. Revisiting previous locations is a recurring part of the experience, and while this reinforces the feeling of becoming trapped within the apartment's haunting cycle, it can also introduce some repetitive backtracking. Fortunately, each newly opened area usually reveals another important piece of the mystery, ensuring that exploration continues to feel meaningful even when the objectives remain relatively simple. Lost Luminosity also deserves recognition for its audio presentation. The soundscape constantly reinforces the oppressive atmosphere through subtle ambient noises, distant echoes, unsettling whispers, and carefully timed effects that heighten player anxiety. Silence is often used just as effectively as loud scares, creating an uneasy anticipation that makes unexpected events even more impactful. Visually, the game favors realistic environments over extravagant supernatural effects, allowing ordinary domestic spaces to become genuinely unsettling through clever lighting and environmental design. The inclusion of AI-generated voice performances may divide opinions, as they successfully convey information but occasionally lack the emotional subtlety that human performances could have delivered during the story's more dramatic moments. Narratively, the game explores themes of grief, trauma, mental illness, and fractured family relationships without reducing them to simple horror tropes. As Sam uncovers the truth surrounding his parents and the strange events connected to the apartment, the story raises questions about perception, memory, and whether the horrors encountered are supernatural manifestations or reflections of psychological suffering. While the relatively short runtime means that some plot points could have benefited from further development, the story remains emotionally engaging and provides multiple endings that encourage replayability and invite players to reconsider earlier events from a different perspective. Lost Luminosity succeeds by delivering a focused psychological horror experience that prioritizes mood, narrative, and immersion over spectacle. Although repetitive exploration, occasional pacing issues, and somewhat limited puzzle variety prevent it from reaching the very top of the genre, the game consistently maintains tension through its effective environmental storytelling and carefully crafted atmosphere. Horror fans who appreciate narrative-driven experiences with emotional depth and supernatural mystery will likely find plenty to enjoy in this haunting journey through a family's darkest secrets.
