Awesome game! Just getting into it, and loving every minute of it.

Lost Bros, developed and published by Wheat Muffin Games, is a deliberately challenging indie puzzle-platformer that builds its entire identity around one defining idea: controlling multiple characters simultaneously. While its retro-inspired pixel presentation may initially suggest something simple and nostalgic, the actual experience is far more demanding, asking players to juggle coordination, timing, and spatial awareness in ways that quickly separate it from more conventional platformers. At the heart of the game is its three-character control system, where players must guide a trio—each with distinct abilities—through a series of obstacle-filled levels. Rather than switching between characters, all three move at once, forcing players to think in parallel rather than sequentially. This design transforms even the most basic actions into layered challenges. A jump is no longer just a jump; it becomes a calculation involving positioning, timing, and how each character’s role interacts with the environment. One might need to block hazards, another to attack enemies, and the third to navigate terrain, all within the same moment. The result is a gameplay loop that feels more like solving dynamic, real-time puzzles than simply progressing through a platforming stage. This complexity is both the game’s biggest strength and its most significant barrier. Lost Bros embraces a trial-and-error philosophy with little compromise, often expecting players to fail repeatedly before mastering a section. Success comes from learning patterns, refining inputs, and developing a kind of mental multitasking rhythm. For players who enjoy high-skill challenges, this creates a strong sense of accomplishment, as every cleared obstacle feels earned. However, the lack of gradual onboarding or forgiving mechanics can make the experience feel harsh, especially early on. The game rarely holds the player’s hand, and its difficulty curve can spike unexpectedly, which may discourage those not fully committed to its demanding style. The structure of the game introduces some variety through different environments and time periods, giving each set of levels a slightly distinct visual identity and gameplay flavor. While these thematic shifts help prevent the experience from feeling completely repetitive, they do not fundamentally change the core mechanics, which remain consistent throughout. There is a loose narrative thread involving a rescue mission, but it stays firmly in the background, functioning more as a framing device than a driving force. The focus is clearly on gameplay, and story elements are kept minimal to avoid interrupting the flow. Visually, the game adopts a straightforward pixel-art style that prioritizes readability over detail. Characters and environments are clean and functional, making it easy to track multiple elements on screen—a crucial factor given the multitasking nature of the gameplay. While it lacks the visual polish of more refined indie titles, the aesthetic fits the game’s design philosophy. The audio design follows a similar approach, with simple but fitting music that complements the action without becoming distracting. It’s not particularly memorable, but it serves its purpose effectively. As a solo-developed project, Lost Bros carries a certain roughness that is hard to ignore. There are moments where the lack of polish becomes apparent, whether in interface design, feedback clarity, or general smoothness of interaction. Yet, this same roughness also gives the game a distinct personality. It feels like a focused experiment—one that prioritizes a unique mechanical idea over widespread appeal. That decision inevitably narrows its audience, but it also gives the game a clear identity. Replayability largely stems from the challenge itself, as players may feel compelled to revisit levels to improve performance or fully master the mechanics. Additional modes and competitive elements add some incentive for repeated play, but the core appeal remains tied to overcoming difficulty rather than discovering new content. This makes it a game that is best experienced in focused sessions, where patience and concentration are at their peak. Ultimately, Lost Bros is not a game that tries to be broadly accessible or conventionally polished. Instead, it commits fully to a singular concept and builds everything around it, for better and worse. It offers a rewarding experience for players who enjoy demanding, skill-based gameplay and are willing to invest the time to master its systems. For others, its steep difficulty and limited variety may prove more frustrating than engaging. It stands as a niche but memorable indie effort—one that succeeds through its ambition, even if it doesn’t always achieve refinement. Rating: 6/10
we need chinese, we need chinese, we need chinese and cloud save.
Although it is technically possible to play this game single player with one controller (and I did), I strongly recommend you play it with three controllers and three players. If you want a challenge, play with two controllers and two players, and have the more skilled player control two bros at once (I suggest the two that move using the thumbsticks). A great deal of effort and passion clearly went into this game, and there's fun to be had in working together with two other people to get the bros through its myriad challenges and gameplay styles.
