Beautiful voice acting.
It's a little more complex than your average walking sim type game, but it still has some problems that mess up the experience, mostly with the narrative. The story is kind of like games such as "What Remains of Edith Finch" and "Gone Home" in that you're supposed to piece together the story from what is being presented. The concept is artistic and the presentation is great, as you are basically wandering an island and collecting objects that represent memories. Each time you find an object, a little mini game starts. It's super simple and feels half baked, but at least the game has some puzzle element. Sometimes you'll need to climb up a structure and other times you do something like touch stars to form a constellation. The only thing that can make it challenging is the fact that there's no explanation and you have to just sort of figure it out. You get a compass that tells you where to go next, but you still have to hunt down the objects in each area and this can be confusing. Complete all the segments in an area and a barrier goes down until you reach the middle. Along the way some darkness thing stalks you, but it's not really scary. If you point the mouse directly at its obvious weak point, it "dies" and vanishes for a bit. Even if it gets you there's no real penalty. I like the sound design and music, and the rapid day/night cycle (with the sun instantly setting in fast motion) looks pretty cool. But much of the dialogue is just cringe worthy, and while the story is kind of sad, it misses the mark in being the emotional journey it's trying to be.
Сюжет не интересный, повествование скучное, геймплей однотипный. Если смотреть за ростом травы или высыханием краски, то вы получите больше эмоций. Единственный плюс от этой игры, это отсутствие ее в вашей библиотеке.
I was super excited for Lost At Sea because the concept genuinely seemed interesting and emotional, but the execution completely ruined the experience for me. I usually enjoy walking simulators because they’re meant to feel relaxing and immersive, but this game somehow made the experience stressful in the worst way possible. The shadowy creature mechanic was awful and completely killed the atmosphere for me. Instead of exploring and enjoying the story, I felt constantly irritated and pressured. What makes it worse is that the AI behavior of the creature felt frustrating rather than challenging, and I couldn’t even progress far enough to see if the story became worthwhile. I wanted to like this game so badly, but the gameplay design completely pushed me away.
Visuals were pretty to look at, but the tan bloom was too much for my eyes after an hour. Especially the puzzles were you follow a blinding ball of light. Had to look up a walk-through 30 minutes in because there is no tutorial or what to do or where to go. After the many set backs from the fear, I gave up and had no interest in continuing to play.
.
Game gives me an eternal loading screen. Cool.
I highly recommend this game because it will drive you crazy with its plot and ending. I love game music, so this game also attracted me.
This is an extremely sad excuse for a game. I finally have a clue about what to do but no matter where I try to go the game kills me. What a treasure.
