Initally this was my review: Game stopped working. Cannot launch it. First launch was okay... This issue is not only occurring to me: https://steamcommunity.com/app/733570/discussions/0/2549465882927982918/#c1694917906651595592 But after fixing save (by mailing Dev**) and playing it for a bit... I must admit, this is pretty boring game, at least for PC*. Despite having some keyboard shortcuts, I could not bare it feeling half-turn based game. It made me feel slow within the game. Or, keyboard... sometimes you can use space to skip text, sometimes it needs to be enter (if cutscene). And I have no idea if there is any button to choose between "take" or "keep" when you meet loot, but I press with mouse. Then I need to quickly get my hand back on arrows, otherwise I might get into trap. Graphics are weird - at first glance they are okay, but then, some animations happen and it's not that beautiful. And sometimes it's otherwise. Music is definitely strong point. Story seems confusing to me. Maybe I have read it too fast, or it had too much chaos... And there was weird bug that game closed while I was checking my characters stats and I clicked one of them... Considering all things, I think it's game I will skip, but it's not kind of game I would strongly "not recommend". * - It might be good and enjoyable experience if you really like playing games on PC, games that could be played on mobile... ** - and I got very fast reponse... so it's very, very respectable towards developers... They did their best to make this game. I just feel somehow bad for not getting charmed by it.
Updated Review: Loading times significantly improved. Battle pace is quicker after continuing to play (as Dev mentioned). There also seems to be more loot to get the ball rolling earlier. Now that gameplay is rolling it is more enjoyable, looting is particularly streamlined to get back into the fight. The soundtrack is pleasant and non-invasive but it would be great to have a toggle to solely turn the music off (currently, disabling music also disables battle sounds). Overall, a simple sidescroll run-fight-loot-upgrade game (it feels like it would play bettter on mobile) but improved by dev updates. I still cannot recommend it at $4.99 USD since it's a free browser game at ArcadeSpot. It would be worth recommending at 99 cents. Original Review 01JUN18: Frustrating, slow to load, unaesthetic (which would be fine if other things were good) and the combat feels constained. I suggest passing until they fix the pacing and awkwardness of combat.
Really enjoying Loot Run! The combat style is a bit like 'skill rotations' from World of Warcraft. Some skills build up your 'adrenaline' resource, others spend it. The 6 skills you're given at the beginning have a decent rotation aspect to them, with some contextual usage as well. The game really gets going once you start using keys to unlock and upgrade skills. After reading through them all, I could probably spend hours just theory-crafting which ones to use together for powerful effects. Choosing gear that is appropriate for the skills you're using comes into play as well, but I've also found myself switching in skills that go with that legendary sword I just found. I would recommend reading the story. It comes in spurts, but (without giving too much away) there is huge payoff later in the game if you've been following what's going on. Next up is trying to get farther than the forest in Hardcore mode...
I had low expectations when I started this up. After about 15-minutes, Loot Run won me over. Despite some graphic bugs and a crash when getting a really good new weapon (didn't get to keep it), this is in pretty good shape for Early Access. The gameplay is basically your character on a rail battling enemies and occasionally dodging environmental objects. You gain levels and choose how to upgrade skills to create your preferred type of build. And of course, what kind of game would Loot Run be without loot? There's a lot of it and you get new gear constantly. If you're interested, this is certainly worth keeping an eye on to see if the devs continue to polish the game, add content and squash bugs in regular updates. If that happens, buy with confidence.
Game crashes after the delveloper logo.. pls fix that
Received a key after playing through beta and testing in the early stages. This game has come a long way from how it was when I was first testing it. The story is key and will draw you in which is rare for newer games. Did one full run through of the normal mode story, and with the huge list of skills and diverse boss fights, you won't get tired.
Recomendo! Yeah not bad. Plenty of play time for 5 bucks.
