Really impressed with this game, Got a few laughs with the ships A.I. Personally think its all what I like in building a mining games, Keep up the great work.
Fun game! Grappling around on an alien planet and killing enemies while trying to make your ship not become a complete mess with all the crafting buildings (didn't get to experience it in multiplayer). The game runs on steam deck pretty well but currently you have to do some custom bindings for certain keys (and aiming/grappling around on the steam deck with a joystick is harder since there is no snap to target), I found it easier to play with a keyboard and mouse.
UPDATE...I previously left a not-so-great review of this game due to performance issues. Since then, one of the devs personally reached out to me and helped me work through my issues. After that, my gameplay has been super smooth and I re-affirm everything positive from my previous review. Graphics are pretty, gameplay is good, and the mix of spacecraft mining and in-person exploration is really fun! Definitely re commend this game to anyone looking for a cool but laid-back, genuinely fun space survival game. I'm currently trying to get my coworkers to jump onboard lol :)
I have really been enjoying Lodestar with my friends. I've been playing on and off since launch, and checking back in just a month later, it's INSANE how much better this game looks. Dev team clearly cares and wants feedback from the community to make the game better and better. If you can stomach an early access game, and want to watch this title get better and better, and are in need of some co-op fun with friends, I highly recommend.
I really like this game! If you love mining resources, looting, crafting, upgrading stuff and boss fights, this game is for you. Jumping from planets to planets collecting things and trying to figure out what happened to the old crew. You can also play this with your buddies! I haven't tried the co-op just yet but It will be super fun I am sure. I will be playing this game more for sure. I recommend!
I have been very much enjoying Lodestar and watching it get better and better can't wait for more updates
I really wanted to like this game, but I just won't let me. It's the definition of jankyness, from combat to spaceflight, to mereley traversing your own spaceship. The computer is quite witty though, and had me smiling a couple times with it's remarks. But that's the only good thing I can honestly write about my experience with it.
I think this game really has a lot of potential. My friends and I have been playing a good bit and overall the game is a lot of fun. Obviously there are some bugs that are a little painful but this game fills a really big vacuum of good longer-form multiplayer games. I think the main thing the game needs right now is a focus on polish rather than content. The game is great, but I'm afraid that frustrating bugs and the slight lack of polish in some areas could scare players away at first impression. Overall, the team have done a great job of making a really cool world that has a ton of potential. This game is great and if you're thinking about getting it you should!!!!!!!
I was skeptical at first, I feel like the early game could use attention, I think the health bar of everything should be halved or quartered, and the movement feels very slow and boring, but, after slogging through some crafting me and my friends got to the second planet, where it became apparent that this is basically just Banjo Kazooie in Space. It's got great platformer level design, and the second level boss was difficult, fair, and fun to beat with friends.
I got the game on sale and am glad that i only paid a reduced price for it, if i knew what i know now within the refund time period i would refund the game, as it is i have had my monies worth for the lower price point. The game play loops are fun enough, which is a shame because the game had the promise of being really good, however the game is not finished. It seems like the developer got about two thirds through development and for some reason decided to rush the second to last planet then toss in a last boss and call it finished. The said last boss looks like it is all placeholder the arena is full of colored boxes and it even shoots giant white rectangular boxes at you (no exaggeration). There are even upgrades for the last planet which is just the last boss arena that have "coming soon", I'm not sure you can even get one or two of the last upgrades. Since the game released in 2023, and the "coming soon" is still in a year later i see the game as abandoned as the devs have a new project releasing later this year. All in all even with a few fun game play loops i would avoid this game. If the devs cant be bothered to actually finish a project from early access and just update the store page to full release, ill also be avoiding any future project from them.
