I was sooo looking forward to this game when it appeared on kickstarter that I pledged for it straight away. I only received my rift last week and have been itching to play the crap out of it! Unfortunately of all the VR games I own this has to rate as one of the worst. Reading the reviews this game has racked up I was hoping that after 9 months they would of fixed most if not all of the issues people were having with it, again, unfortunately nothing has been addressed. The control system still is the worst I have come across and totally breaks any sort of immersion that could be gained which is a total shame as the graphics when they are working correctly are fantastic. The only problem is that for some unbeknownst reason if you move your head too far up/down/left/right the graphics suddenly change from gorgeous to horrible low resolution blurry fudge and if you move a bit more they totally disappear. I initially thought this was to try and keep you in the 'sweetspot' to reduce motion sickness which does kinda make sense in a weird way but the more I played the more I realised it just happens fairly randomly. The story seems interesting enough from what I have played so far but I doubt I will bother to finish it until they fix the game which at this point seems highly unlikely. As other people have said the loading screen is bloody annoying and takes far too long to tell you the date and time; why they coldn't of simply printed the time and date for each section on screen instead of the silly animated timeline thing is beyond me. One of the things that annoyed me the most was a puzzle fairly early on in the game where your dad tells you to get the co-ordinates for somewhere from his desk. No problem I thought so I checked every desk in the two labs which took ages thanks to the convoluted control system and evetually gave up and googled it. I wont say where I actually found it for the sake of spoilers but while technically the game wasn't lying to me it was an extremely obtuse description for something that should be as simple as go here pick this up. Finding it isn't the issue as this is supposed to be an adventure game but the dodgy graphics and failed control system just made it an exercise in frustration. If they could just fix the graphics and controls which shouldn't be that difficult I'm sure this would be a lot of fun to play. If this had the same system as technolust for example and the teleporting from Robo Recall all would be well. As it stands I cannot recommend this at all and would go so far as to actively discourage people form buying it; particularly for the £29.99 they are asking for. I wouldnt even pay £5 for it at the moment. I truly hope the devs fix the issues and produce however many episodes they orignally intended but it looks like they have bitten off more than they could chew and seem to have abandoned it completely. Played on i7 7700k 4.2Ghz 16Gb DDR4 3000Mhz GTX 1080
Great little game which literally left me wanting more, played it on the rift and in all fairness the controls could use a bit of work but its something that comes with more dev time with the VR tech imo, the story, characters and environment are all fantastic and really add the immersion, even as a 4-5 hour experience it had enough of an impression on me to leave me wanting to see the next chapter of these charcters unfold and had fun variations in gameplay that keeps you entertained for the entire experience.
The game is good but a little to short for the price like many other vr games and it should have an option for free rotation of the camera/ and faster Strafing. Anyway really looking forward to "Chapter 2"! Everybody that is complaining because of roomscale: The game cleary says that it is played seated if you are not ok with that then you don't need to buy it. I`m happy that there are seated games because I definitely don't want to be standing the whole time espacially in longer games like this.
by far the WORST vr game i have ever played. and that includes the free ones. so let's talke about the pros and cons. PROS -------- 1)the graphics are nice CONS ----------- 1) this game was NOT made for VR. i swear they just slaped together the worst movement and controll system posible and think it is fine. to look left more than 45 degrees you MUST point your controller left and click. seriously, what was the point of VR if you can only look froward? on top of that if you so much as lift your head up or down 5mm the whole ******* screen goes white till you move back. 2) slow. well the controlls make it ♥♥♥♥ to even proceded. worse directions are never very clear. i know the VR games are limited. i know a lot of people are looking for something new and good to play and might be desperate. this game IS that bad. just do not get it. go buy a magnifine glass and roast small insects, much cheaper and 100X more intertaining.
I really liked this game a lot. The price tag is alittle too high and the controls are far from perfect but I loved the story and I really felt connected to the characters in a meaningful way. The music is also fantastic. I highly recommend this game.
I can't even speak for the game story because the movement system is soooooooo bad.... This game should be used as an example of how NOT to do movement in a VR game... Too many companies are too worried about making people sick and in an attempt to stop this they are creating very bad movement options that break immersion and in the case of this game, makes it utterly unplayable for me... It's okay to include comfort options but they need to be options... Standard locomotion can and is being done just look at a game like ONWARD... It's by far my favorite game and it uses standard locomotion... Just as we have options to increase or decrease our video to match our horsepower we need options to increase or decrease movement comfort... So please devs... Include standard movement then maybe teleport for the people prone to sickness!
I have been playing in VR for a couple of years now, sins DK1 Days. So naturally i was very curious about the game Loading Human. Of course the locomotion used is far from optimal, But the devs clearly said they wanned to eliminate vr sickness. And i do think they are sucssess full with that task. How ever i wish we could have the option to choose between a free roam mode, or the sort of teleportation/Snap turning. Cause not everybody enjoyes this way of movment. and it is a big immersion breaker. But once you "Start" to get used to the controlls, the game is actually very interesting. has a great story, making you curious to find out how this evolves. All in all the game has great potential. Here is my Gameplay video, playing with Ghetto Rift, Oculus Rift + Razer Hydra. (cause im waiting for Oculus Touch) https://youtu.be/bTGmdtnMi7Y
I really wanted to like this game. Story, graphics, voice acting all pretty good. But even after the controls update, the controls feel broken, unnatural, and broken for a VR game and really takes away from the experience.
Worst Locomotion EVER!!!
Kickstarter backer here. I have only just started and it's possible the meat of the game is spectacular, but based on the tutorial's control scheme overview, boring "timeframe" loading screens and very odd audio volume and mixing, I cannot recommend this game compared next to so many other amazing Vive games currently out. But I'll update this review if I change my mind. This game was being developed before motion controls were ever standardized, so it makes sense why the control scheme here is ABYSMAL compared to almost every other Vive game. It's like trying to go back and play Splinter Cell 1 :P There is no roomscale tracking, so it feels like it was ported to Vive from a smartphone or something. You hold one button to walk forwards and then aim the other controller in the direction want to turn and click a button there...I'm still not 100% good with it and I'm quite adaptable to new experimental games.
