Living the Nightmare is a fast-paced, turn-based, Horror Roguelike about a Slasher who just met his end. Be the Faceless, a Killer slain by a would-be victim and cast into a dark, purgatorial realm. There may be a way out... but there's a lot of monsters to turn inside out first.

no horror, not enough blood, not disgusting at all. it is something like small version of turnbased crimson land. if you are not into modern graphics and stuff and you are in search for some 30 minutes single session of killing monsters roguelite - it is for you. advice: turn off ingame music and play some black/grind/funeral of your own collection. EDIT: vote for game to be more disgusting! (and more stuff). EDIT: ok, it is not a great-great-great game, also it has frustrating/gamebreaking bugs. but it is sure playable and i just want to support devs a little with positive review. still recommend, yeah!!!
Follow our curator for similar games
https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35180752-3-point-play/ Roguelike horror survival + challenging + creepy = Turn-based survival with monsters coming after you from all directions. Bash/shoot your way through to shrines and treasures. How long can you last?
it's like DoomRL but for Splatterhouse. sort of. kill as much as you can for as long as you can, with a selection of different melee and ranged weapons. different masks and skills adds a bit of depth, and there's enough blood to fill up at least 10 overlook hotel elevators
Kill Monsters, and sometimes an innocent Human, in a turn-based Slasher-Survival-Horror Game. Nothing to say more. Play and enjoy it if you like turn-based Games.
I was part of the Open Beta and as such received the full product for free. The game really has transformed quite a bit since I originally played in beta. The devs really try hard to listen to community feedback to make the game even better. I've seen it transform quite a bit in just a couple of months. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pros: Original Theme Roguelike (Can't get enough of these types of games. I've played a lot and this game is better than many other main stream titles) Each run feels different with the semi random power ups you can unlock. It feels great when you are able to overcome what seems like impossible odds at times. Getting well timed powers or being rewarded for exploring. Good difficulty but well balanced in how it's executed. Scratches that itch for tactical gameplay or turn based strategy. Random bosses for every run so gameplay stays fresh. Many different enemy types with different attacks that scale as you progress farther in the game. Pixel art for the terrain and monsters is really well done. It's hard to believe such a small team is responsible for this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cons: I usually turn blood off in games so it might seem strange that I enjoy this game as much as I do. It has pixel gore and gooshy noises! Sometimes it's tough to feel like I'm making any progress other than getting good at the game. This isn't necessarily bad, but can be helpful for players that don't like to lose over and over. It's a game that you get enjoyment from mastering. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do yourself a favor and buy when it goes on sale. It's a hidden gem that deserves to be played.
Purgatory roguelike. Its simple. Roguelikey, Mostly simple.
This game is not famous enough, so i add my own rating. It's pretty nice game created on crossroad between horror, turnbased, rougelike and bits of RPG genre with some nice mix of survival elements and puzzle. The basis of story is pretty simple and understandable, Imagine movie about Jason Voorhes goes to hell. That it. Our bloodthristy protagonist (antagonist?) died and his disturbed soul get to hell. To make things different he must do really easy to say but hard to execute task - kill monsters (with some number of innocent people too) and ignite shrines to proceed. There really huge bestiary and variety of monsters - from worms and worm infested corpeses to horrors from the void (Who's good ol' H.P.Lovecraft mentioned many times) To survive our killer must utilize anything on this bloody battlefield - collect different weapons, masks, suits and powerups, use higher grounds and etc. Each weapon have it's own durability limit and guns have limited ammo. There many things and tricks that can be used in game so i won't spoiler. I just say this pretty simple yet nice game deserve some attention and love. This one is nice little gem of indie development and one of those games that easy to play but hard to master.
Afar as game that try to somehow fit in the rouge like genre this is one of the more interesting. The tutorial level goes by fast and unfortunately you can't go back ( at least I don't know how. ) I like the hex format and overall style of the game , The combat is fitting for what they are trying to do. The only thing that really irritates me is the height thing. Its a pretty addicting little game. I am sure there are those who have ignited all of the shrines but that is not me as of yet. Its fairly cheap price wise so if you like rouge type games and horror definitely pick this up,
Really challenging but pretty fair. Fun weapons and abilities. Definitely worth a play.
REALLY good game. Well worth the price. I would describe it as "Turn-based Splatterhouse" Pros: -Fun to play. Satisfying gameplay. Kills are fun. Simple to grasp strategy gameplay that can move at a quick pace. -Introduction is excellent. Surprised to see something that high quality in a game of this price. -Creative power-ups and status effects. Cons: -Awesome introduction seemed to have little to do with the actual nightmare gameplay. -I was disappointed there wasn't more gameplay like the tutorial where you play as a predator.
