Reviews
I think I need to replay this game another time to fully understand this one (and maybe i will update my review), but this was a very worthwhile experience. Has tons of dark humor and covers very messed up themes and is just straight up horrible at times, but this is also one of the few rpg games that isn't just slop and it has a really good story. I haven't played joyful and maybe I will, but this game is definitely worth your time if you enjoy story based games that cover messed up themes.
10/10 music, story and atmosphere. 1/10 gameplay. I've never wanted to like a game this much and just hate every mechanic and design choice.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
For a long time the greatest game I ever played was Red dead redemption 2. That changed last night when I finished Lisa the painful. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This game has the most phenomenal story I’ve ever experienced in any form of media. The true disgust I felt when seeing Marty, and the amount of tears I cried at the games ending topped everything else I’d played. The combat is fun and engaging, and not mindless like some other rpgs can become, the soundtrack encapsulates the world perfectly, the humour is on point always, and the story… please do yourself a disservice and play this game, because you will be left feeling more empty than you were before. 10/10
obra maestra, me hizo eyacular lagrimas de mis ojos, Es como si mi pene sacara semen en vez de sangre
This game was one of the worst video game experiences I've ever had. It punishes you all of the time. There are very few things that make you happy. However, it truly embodies the feelings of desolation and despair that one would feel in a post apocalyptic world. The feeling of addiction. Pain. Depression. It's wonderful. I hated every second of it. You should play this game.
I like usually like weird / disturbing / difficult / RPGMaker / indie type games, so I really thought I'd like this one given the amount of positive reviews and the hype around how emotionally brutal this game is. But it's just not good; not the gameplay, not the story, really not much of it. I'm honestly a bit baffled by all the praise for this game. Except the soundtrack. The soundtrack is amazing. Artistically speaking, the story has an interesting setup, and the world is kind of interesting in a bizarrely grim and quirky way, but it doesn't really go anywhere interesting. The characters especially feel like caricatures and lack any sort of emotional depth or complexity. All those video essays talk about how the game explores abuse, trauma, grief, regret, etc. but it really doesn't, at least not substantially. It just shows you a bunch of that stuff happening and kinda leaves it at the surface level. I didn't find any emotional impact or believability in anything that I saw (again, except maybe the very beginning with Brad raising Buddy and her disappearing), and I don't really see how people extract anything profound from it. It's like how if a horror movie shows you a bunch of scary or gory stuff, people may respond to the shock impact of what they are seeing but that stuff alone doesn't make a good movie. And as for the gameplay, there are many sections that are tedious and kinda inexcusable from a design perspective. The driving sections, the pseudo-platforming that punishes you for making a wrong jump, dead-ends and time wasters. The combat at least I thought was sufficiently challenging at first, but it doesn't take long to find workarounds and strategies that make it a bit too easy. But WOAH, then the game BRUTALLY FORCES you to LOSE TEAMMATES, pretty gruesome huh? But no. Firstly there is an excess of party members, so the worst thing about losing some is that you have to grind up your replacements (more tediousness). And secondly, if the main characters are shallow, the recruitable side characters are even moreso. How could I possibly get attached to or care about these characters dying in ways that the game pushes on me nonsensically in an attempt to make me FEEL THE PAIN? And I think maybe what ties all these weaknesses together, and I've seen mentioned in other negative reviews is the weirdly inconsistent emotional tone the game has. It's like it tries to be funny and absurd, but also super dark and emotionally serious, but fails at both. The absurd parts are at least memorable... I can say that much. But what kind of world is this? There is nowhere near enough emotional depth, or maybe just raw believable humanity? for the dark parts to actually be disturbing (like Fear & Hunger), OR for the funny parts to actually be endearing (like Earthbound or Undertale). I dunno, it comes across like a bad cartoon or something. So despite having high hopes for this game, it failed on all fronts for me. I don't think the praise is warranted. There is genuine creativity on display here for sure, and I will praise the soundtrack endlessly. But overwhelmingly positive? I just don't see it
Painful writing, painful graphics, painful gameplay, painful soundtrack.
A brutal and emotionally cataclysmic post-apocalyptic survival horror rpg that will force you to rip out your own heart twenty different ways. The story is gripping from start to finish, with a surprising dosage of comic levity sprinkled about the fascinating world used to tell it. The art is fantastic, beautiful, human, horrifying, shocking, grotesque, a point of extremity. The music is one of the most out-there soundtracks I've heard in a game and every track fits its mold, every track slaps its own mind away. I'd describe the soundtrack as a mix between horror ambience, quirky overworld themes and battle music that sounds like emergency broadcast alarms remixed into club bangers. Combat, while punishing, is particularly unique for turn-based systems and actually becomes rather fun the more you learn its systems and play around with particular resources. Which is a great segue-way into part 2 of this review: what to do to enjoy this game. Because even just on normal mode, the game is hard. Resources are limited, rng is virile, and you will be making many choices that come with significant mechanical sacrifice. Here's what I recommend doing to get the most out of this game if you buy it (which you should!!!): 1. Explore. Don't just run from point A to point B, no matter how much you want to progress the story, get to the end, whatever, take your time and see as much of the world as you can find. It's worth it. For what the world has to show you and also, for, well; you cannot grind exp in this game. Do side quests and fight optional enemies. Look around for secrets. Doing this will set you up for a much better playthrough, making your team stronger and setting you up with a lot more currency, items, equipment and party members, all of which are vital limited resources for getting yourself by. 2. Do not neglect status effects. There are a lot of them and they are extremely powerful. Apply status effects how you would de-buffs. Pay attention to which effects your party members are afflicted with. Don't hesitate to use cure items where needed. Status effects can make or break several turns. 3. Learn combos. Some characters have a combo system as part of their dps kit. The combos activate certain skills. While you are also able to access these skills through the combat menu, doing combos will always do extra damage. In this game, every point of damage counts. 4. Experiment with team composition. Don't just stick with the first three guys you get, unless you really like em' I suppose. Fool around and level up the many party members you're able to recruit through progression, side-quests and currency. There are some absolutely cracked party members with insane dps or crazy useful status moves just a quest or two away, and you're not going to know how great they are, or how well they can clash off other party members, until you put em on your team and get to swingin'. They all have a unique style of attack based off their story backgrounds, and a plethora of unique multi-purpose skills. They'll suffer different vices and function off different mana systems. You gotta treat em like pokemon. Well, up to a point. That's all I'll give for advice. Anything else would spoil the immersion, the choices, the pain. The game is phenomenal and a new favorite of mine. Kind of the Martyrs of rpgs but a huge recommend. FFO: Omori, Yume Nikki, Undertale
