+ Puzzles: intuitive in most cases, not very challenging; medium difficulty, I would say. + Graphics and style. + Music and sound. - Story. This game is about solving puzzles, so what could go wrong? Well, man bad, woman good, revolution good, woman with dyed hair starts a revolution and saves everyone - utter rubbish. It this wasn't an indie game made by just one man, I'd give it a thumbs down just for that.
This review is specially made for those who like to get all the achievements in games. Minor spoilers ahead. Linkito is an indie 2D puzzle game where you have to make connections between power sources and other devices to turn them on, similar to an electrical circuit. Personally I enjoy this kind of puzzle games that take the time to create a universe and a story, instead of just giving you increasingly difficult levels only. In this particular case, it takes place on a dystopian future where you’re given the chance to work on a sort of walled city-state controlled by a mega corporation that creates electrical/mechanical devices founded by a mysterious inventor and leader. At first you just learn how to make simple connections but as you progress new types of mechanisms are added and the game gets increasingly more complex. Each chapter takes place in a different building and offers a different kind of objective or gameplay. After you complete the main levels there are some extra ones that are like a sandbox game mode where you have to place the mechanisms of your choice to reach the goal. The graphics are simple and the color palette is mostly green and blue tones which work very well to give the impression you’re working over a circuit board or something that resembles it. The animations and light effects are also very well implemented and really give the feel that the electricity is flowing and the system is functional. The achievements are particularly hard but there are a few random tasks you need to do and others that depend on certain dialogue options. I picked the ones that showed commitment but also a few of the more confrontational ones and got everyone of those cheevos. Apart from this, you mostly need to complete all the levels and get the collectibles that are scattered around the town map, the offices and all the levels themselves, often in the boxes you open. If you can’t find them, there is a very useful guide here explaining each achievement. Achievements: How many: 37 Achievements. How much time: Around 10 hours, mostly on my own, but I had to use a guide for 2 or 3 levels. Following a guide more often will shorten the time to a few hours. Game difficulty: Easy, you can complete most main levels quite easily. Achievements’ Difficulty: Medium, no missables, but there are a few levels where most people will need a guide because they are very complex Overall opinion: Linkito is a fun and well designed puzzle game that starts easy but gets increasingly more complex with each chapter. The world and story are well written and the graphics and light effects are very immersive. Fairly simple puzzle game with fairly easy achievements. There's no histograms or anything, so while the game does show you your own stats for how you did, it really doesn't mean anything. The story is rather... bad... and some of the later puzzles aren't that difficult and instead are just lengthy. I do recommend the game, though either get it in a bundle or on sale, as $15 (at the time of this review) feels rather steep.
This is a solid entry in the genre. If you like logic gates and that kind of problem solving this is fun. Good production values. High amount of polish.
Fun puzzles, not the longest in campaign, but there's a lot of extra/community content too.
It's a nice enough game. You've been given a bunch of trinkets and have to solve a goal. It reminds me a lot of The Incredible Machine (Contraption maker) in that regard, and that's a positive thing. Linkito does more with boolean boards, input-to-output manipulation and programming. It's clever and I like the overall difficulty, but might be too easy for die hard puzzlers. I give it this, though: it can get fiddly at times, especially given that you can't just rearrange cables or just attach B to A instead of A to B. Aesthetics and looks are okay, but I think the performance is impacted more than it should. It's a 2D single screen puzzler...why does my steam-deck equivalent PC struggle to keep even 30 FPS? That said: the positive easily outweighs the (nitpick) negatives.
A cute logic puzzler!
Un bon casse tête
