For me this didn't work really. The interesting part of the game is figuring out how you make letters but that's sometimes arbitrary. It's nice and creative but when recipes need to be discovered for doing the game and your logic could work but the game logic is not the same, it becomes a hindrance for doing the factory part. The factory part is only interesting until you want to balance various word compositions because each letter has best solutions on their own and those don't change. After the 15th-20th word this becomes very repetitive. Out of my 3 hours the last hour was spent not solving the current word but figuring out missing letter recipes. That became a brute force process after a while, and at that point that's not a game but a chore. If you like balancing letter compositions, feel free to pick up this game, for me it didn't work.
A fun concept with regrettably few developer-made levels, but you can't really argue with a few hours of gameplay for a couple of bucks when it's on sale. And if you want to find all the recipes, you'll get more mileage than I did as a non-completionist.
you don't know pain until you keep discovering secret recipes instead of the final basic recipe. 10/10 want to bash my head against a wall
The game seems nice at first, but it gets boring after about 3–5 hours. You can see it just by looking at the playtime in most of the reviews — that says a lot.
Baby's first automation/optimization game. The concept is really interesting, but within a couple minutes of play you realize there's really not a lot of depth. The main "puzzle", which would be how to make each letter, ends up boiling down to trial and error. The other bit, which is optimizing, also ends up being mostly placing more buildings, or more trial and error to find a different recipe, as the "pipes" dont have collision or anything that would make you care about placement and factory design. Bafflingly, shapes take time to move through the pipes and one of the optimization bars is about waste, which leaves you fiddling with distances (or doing some really tedious simple calculations) to avoid waste. Also, the UI/UX really leaves a lot to be desired, especially considering how many other games have done a similar concept before, which should have been enough for the devs to figure out what are the must-haves for this kind of game (the lack of copy/paste especially comes to mind). I think a child might really enjoy this game (and this is not meant as an insult, I could very easily imagine 8 year old me spending hours on this and having a blast), but for an audience who is already familiar with "Zach-likes" (as the bundle is called), it really feels a lot more like a chore than an actual game. Also, children deserve better.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1318690/shapez/
words are hard, more so when you gotta make all of them outta I.
This game is such a fun and charming factory puzzle game. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface and I am very much enjoying discovering all the different ways to make the letters and hidden ones!
Boring
Absolute steal, I play this like how I clock into wordle everyday. This game was pretty easy to get into and was very self explanatory. The background music was a bop too. My only complaint was that this game is not supported on mac: I played this through a VM.
