Boring unrelated info in the first 2 paragraphs, be warned.
I'll be honest, before playing on PC I, like pretty much anyone who watched Lets Plays on Youtube in 2015, saw videos all over my feed, and I played this and 2 halfway through and I completed BtS back when I only played xbox, and I kinda dropped it and never played again after accidently getting spoiled.
But now, replaying this and actually finishing the story, I can say I'm truly obsessed. Maybe its just because I have nostalgia from the 2013 small town Americana setting and comparing to my own life around that time in not much bigger towns than Arcadia Bay, maybe its because I see to much of myself in Chloe and of my IRL partner in Max, maybe its because I like all things lesbian (seeing as I am one myself).
Or maybe its just simply because this game is amazing. While the music isn't my style, its still really fits that vibe the game is going for, the story is very great, it really makes you feel scared, happy, and sad so well. I like most of if not all characters (writing wise), and the little details in just analyzing every single object is very fun. Arcadia Bay is a very, very well crafted small town and it truly does make you think you are a part of this world. Finding all the little references to pop culture or just small details in general that give more symbolism, [spoiler] foreshadowing [/spoiler], or small little details to the time period of the setting that really show the devs really cared about making this world as immersive and captivating as it is.
My only complaints are 1. Even on a the highest settings, the graphics barely feel "remaster" worthy 2. The story really feels like it just tries to jam pack a bunch of stuff lore and story wise whenever you need to use the photo rewind power. It really feels like the writers knew what the story was going and how they wanted to end, but realized that they couldn't do what they wanted with only 1 or two episodes left, so it really feels like a garble and really takes away from the detective like aspects I adored previously. Not to say I dislike it or it "ruins the story", but I feel like the episodic nature of the game and how it was developed, and it would have been way better if you could uncover more yourself with maybe an extra chapter or two, than when it basically just automatically gives you all the secrets to you in the end. Seeing as their is a rumor that is was meant to be 8 episodes , while it is sad to think one of my favorite games story wise could have been even better, I do must give credit to the devs for being able to do what they could with all the time and budget constraints they had.
