Libra of the Vampire Princess: Lycoris & Aoi in "The Promise" PLUS Iris in "Homeworld"

First of all, I’d like to point the fact that this kinetic (there are no choices, you only read) visual novel is [b]very expensive[/b] for such little content¹. I still haven’t played the original game, and I bought this title since in the description it says that it’s a good introduction of the world of [i]Libra of the Vampire Princess[/i]. I’m very interested on that game, but since it’s expensive as well, I’ll wait for a sale. This title consists in two short episodes: two girls called Lycoris and Aoi who are agents of an organization called Rubina. The girls dress as nuns and they kill vampires, in order to protect innocent people. [spoiler]Aoi is kinda of an a.s.s to Lycoris sometimes, trying to prove herself by saying some disrespectful things about Lycoris’ late partners.[/spoiler] Then there’s a few semi romantic scenes and dialogue between them, both characters insist that they love each other, but “not like that”. There’s some fanservice because of it, which I liked. The ending was pretty abrupt tho, things were getting cute and it ended faster before I could even say “Aww—“. lol The second story is very different, some sort of sci-fi mixed with an occult group trying to take over the power. A woman called Iris together with her colleagues, Aconite and Galega [spoiler](he’s weird as f*ck but I liked him?? He has a fetish for Iris’ legs because he thinks they’re perfect but it’s not like he loves her. Just… her legs. lol[/spoiler], take down these crazy guys that are part of the occult group that want people to get infected with an impure life force. Wow. [spoiler]And it ends up being something totally different.[/spoiler] 5/10. The art style together with BGM and VA are pretty good, but honestly, the price tag bothers me a lot. Lycoris and Aoi’s story where a good introduction to the original game (at least you get to know a bit of the plot), and Iris route was basically for fanservice. Which is fine, but just… If you haven’t played the original game yet, how can this second story be considered a “good introduction to the original”? Even so, it was fun. The ending was unexpected at least. Overall, I recommend to get this title AFTER you read Libra of the Vampire Princess, and only if you liked the story a lot in order to pay an absurd amount of money on two short kinetic novels. You can always wait for a good sale too, it’s up to you. [b]¹ There’s an achievement that requires 10 hours of gameplay. So I let it idle in order to get it. I finished the whole game in 2 hours or less.[/b]

I'd only recommend this to people who already own "Libra of the Vampire Princess", considering the price tag for two prequel chapters to that game (that according to the descriptions were funded by Kickstarter). The intro vid in this VN is actually the intro of the parent game, so you'll be seeing a lot of characters and scenes not featured in this game whatsoever, which I'd almost call a bit misleading, at least if you are not familiar with LoftVP in the first place. Here you have two different chapters of a Kinetic Visual Novel (zero choices, reading/listening only) with a limited amount of character sprites. There's 6 CGs total, 3 for each chapter. The VN is fully voiced in Japanese. The Lycoris + Aoi chapter only features sprites of these two, and the Iris chapter feels almost like a filler episode since [spoiler]it turns out that everything you read just now was basically fanfiction made by Iris[/spoiler]. One of the achievements for this game is a 10 hour playtime. Trust me, you'll finish a lot faster than that (though your mileage/reading speed may vary).

These are a pair of prequels to Libra of the Vampire Princess. They can serve as back story for those who have read that, or an intro to three of the characters. While I would suggest waiting for a sale, these are actually well-done, so I can recommend them.

This prequel has 2 different stories, independent from each other. One of the stories is about 2 girls, the other one about a boy and a girl (+ a 3rd male friend). You don’t have to make any choices. The game doesn’t contain any sexual content. [h1]Story[/h1] Both characters are very persevering and had lots of experience with their partner. As far as I know, they have nothing else in common. I guess you’ll figure that out in Libra of the Vampire Princess. Both stories were short but emotional. Although both were only prequels, they had the complete story structure. [h1]Art[/h1] Both the girls, boys, and backgrounds were nicely drawn. I liked the little animations. Even the fights were well supported by the graphics and the varied background music. The only thing I noticed was that the game allows fullscreen with a resolution of 1080x1920. This is not bad, but someone that starts up the game in fullscreen with that resolution will see the pixels. This can leave a bad impression, so I recommend setting a limit on the window size, so the images stay sharp. [h1]Extra[/h1]. + Good voice acting

Dva zaujímavé príbehy bez možnosti voľby s krásnymi pozadiami a peknou grafikou postáv. Príbeh Lycoris a Aoi mi pripadá skôr ako upútavka na druhú hru, končí príliš rýchlo /30 min./, príbeh Iris je dlhší /1,5 hod./, prepracovanejší, zvlášť opis boja je veľmi zaujímavý, iba by som si asi odpustila poslednú časť odohrávajúcu sa v súčastnosti, celkový dojem kazí. Vzhľadom na obsah hry a jej veľkosť sa mi zdá jej cena neúmerne vysoká a tak by som asi počkala na bundle alebo výraznú zľavu. ...a 10 hod. achiewent za hranie je lacná reklama, nič viac, neviem si predstaviť človeka, ktorému by trvalo tak dlho to prečítať....
