As others have said, this is very similar to Bookworm Adventures. Simple but still a lot of fun, especially when enemies start throwing various effects at you later on. EDIT: That said, it *reaaaaally* needs a better dictionary.

While the entire game is spelling words from a limited set of tiles, there is none of the spatial strategy/crossword aspect of Scrabble here. At best there are various power ups you can purchase that give you boosts for things like spelling a word with two repeated letters, or ending with an S. Thus, if the spelling game were the only aspect on offer this would be pretty underwhelming. However, adding some mild RPG elements makes a surprising difference in terms of the enjoyment of the game. Although there’s barely any storyline, there are quite a few upgrades that you can purchase with the gems (think, XP) that you earn from your battles. Not just simple buffs to your damage per letter stat, but also various skills with varying degrees of synergy. That’s not to say that it is a really deep or innovative RPG ruleset. If the RPG aspect was the entire game, it would probably be fairly forgettable. However combining the spelling battles and the RPG leads to a remarkably satisfying package. In essence you earn gems by fighting (spelling) that you then use to modify the rules, so that you can do even more damage next time. It’s a fun loop. If you are concerned that you could only do well in this game if you are a great speller, let me assure you that that is not true. I am dyslexic and when I play real Scrabble my fellow players give me the accommodation of freely checking my words for validity before placing them (this game works that way too). So if long and unusual words are not something you’re able to spell, no worries. Just focus a bit more on strategic choices of which stats and skills to upgrade. Meanwhile the game offers good quality of life features: varied and satisfying music, simple but well done cartoon graphics, and full touch-screen support. While I could see that this game might be somewhat niche, it does a very good job of what it tries to be. If what I’ve described sounds appealing, I think you will really like this game.

my absolute favorite word game. it's like bookworm adventures but better because it has a built-in dictionary. and also because you can still buy this one. there's a demo to try as well. some levels seem tough or impossible at first, those are best tackled later, with more upgrades. it's worth noting (even though it's right next to the add to cart button) that buying the game gets you both the original and the remaster (hence my copy-paste review for both versions). not much point in playing the original now, even if there's nothing particularly wrong with it, but I loved it so much that I completed both and I rarely replay anything, and won't touch a remaster if I already played the original. the remaster has a different soundtrack but listening to the original is also an option, they're both excellent.

A novelty word game that plays out in short puzzles with a dungeon theme. Useful as a short time waster, but also highly repetitive. This game is kind of nostalgic for me because I played the original version of it with my mom when she was still alive, so my review of the updated version is clearly going to be a thumbs up. It's a pretty fun word game, though the claims of being an RPG are pretty limited - it has some RPG elements, but having solid word game skill tend to be much more important than your specific stat choices, and you'll pretty much max out everything as you play through the game naturally. My only real complaint is that the dictionary the game uses is very weird - it accepts a lot of very strange words, especially in the 3-letter range ("Zzz" being probably one of the funniest to me) and doesn't accept others that you might think it should. For instance, it accepts all US state names, and some country names, but not others, and it's kind of mixed as to whether or not it lets you say 'rude' words.

I thank my friend for giving me this game. Thank you! At first glance, I didn't know what to make of this game. The protagonists look like Martin the martian from Looney Tunes. But then I gave it a go. Now I can't stop playing! An excellent game for writers, lexical enthusiasts, letters-oriented people. In short, those that have Archangel Gabriel as their patron. Now, you play as Death / Grimm (or Azrael) and start the day by liberating your friends from the deadly goons of a mysterious boss (haven't got to him yet). In order to defeat those goons, you have to form words out of the existing letters. Oh, boy. I don't work under pressure and in such limits... Be happy, you are not alone. The game helps you out with potions, armor, healing, comics, wizards, henchmen. You just need to form words and efficient ones too from a limited set. Let's see if you got this, young writer. PROS: - Comic-like characters, action-packed adventure, silly character descriptions, goofy animations; - Helping potions, armor and scythe upgrade, shields, everything to help you and defeat the bad guys; - So many achievements (got to get them all, I guess); - Limited set of letters to form words (use creativity as much as possible, when possible). CONS: - Nothing at the moment. I am still playing this game. I am curious to see who's the final boss and what will happen next.

Its Bookworm Adventures. I feel it was made to be played along a dictionary or something, some challenges are way too specific or require you to know long words in a short amount of time. You can kinda cheat using a Scrabble solver. Its a good time waster, but incredibly repetitive.

Well... It's OK. This is a word/RPG game of sorts. The graphics are modest. The music is repetitive. The story is barely a plot. No bugs or crashes. Overall, entertaining. Obviously, this is the remastered version. I played the original, and I can notice that there are some improvements here. Unlike the original, I felt this one to be a bit more engaging, with a better pace. It doesn't feel as repetitive, even when it's not too different. For the price, it will bring you a decent amount of gameplay. There's a campaign and an endless mode. It includes cards and achievements. It's a polished Indie game, and if you like the genre, you'll likely not regret the experience. So there...
