While the visuals are clean and the movement and mechanics have everything essential to a platformer, the game lacks identity and has a couple of issues at the moment. First the (current) issues: The game will stop your movement input if you collide with anything from the side, leading to jarring disruptions to gameplay. The checkpoints have no indicators, which would help from a level design perspective, though it would also clash with the minimalist visuals. The game also lacks a basic sound settings option. The gameplay - minus the collision issue - is servicable. The character controller acts essentially as you'd expect from a platformer, which is solid enough for a 1st game. The visual feedback is lacking somewhat, but I understand the theme is to be minimalist in visuals. The mechanics are alright for a very short and simple game. A few give some degree of an atmosphere to the game. The story feels disjointed and sort of crammed in. It gives the game a bit of much needed identity, but I can't say it improved the experience all that much. Aside from the few format break levels (the dark maze at the end and the falling level), the level design gets pretty boring fairly quick due to its simplicity. I do think one element sticks out, which are the few segments with fast wall jumping on segmented floating platforms. The game gets more snappy and more unique compared to other first attempt platformers during the 2-3 segments of the game like that. I would have loved to see more levels centered around that sort of speed, precision, and midair adjustment. Nailing down the fun elements of the game like this should help serve the vision of any future projects. At the end of the day, it's a short and basic minimalist platformer. It may be something to relax to for a couple of hours if that's what you enjoy. With some fixes to some of the mentioned issues, it would be fine for a first project by a novice solo dev.
Though simple. It runs smooth and is enjoyable especially if you enjoy 2d platforms. It has a simple art style that doesn't detract you to much while still feeling nice and giving an enjoyable vibe. If you want to relax and just enjoy a simple smooth game. This is a good choice.
i’m absolutely thrilled with the game! visually, it’s very pleasant and beautiful. you can really feel every level — the atmosphere is incredible. i especially loved the story and plot of Leo: The Square. it offers deep reflections on life. i highly recommend everyone to play it and experience it for themselves!
This minimalist game is really well-crafted on many levels: the thoughtfulness of the level design, the gradation of complexity, unexpected solutions...visuals and music. The descriptive literary text adds volume and depth to the platformer with pleasant touch of plot. The game is made with soul!
Хорошая игра, но управление немного не комфортное...
This game is a short and basic minimalist platformer. the art is cute, the lighting is great, and the rest of the platforming components are there. don't expect the world to change after playing this game, it's not that kind of game. but it's enjoyable for those of us wanting a platformer to kill some time with! I finished the game in around 40minutes. For a first ever game, definitely a good job :)
tuff game
Unexpectedly deep experience. What starts off looking simple quickly reveals a well-balanced mix of challenge and elegance. The minimalist aesthetic isn’t just for show — it’s carefully designed, with every element serving a purpose. The soundtrack deserves special mention: rich, atmospheric, and perfectly tuned to the pacing. It’s not just background noise — it shapes the entire mood, making even the most difficult moments feel meaningful. There’s a certain unforgiving edge here, but in the best way. It respects the player, trusts you to figure things out, and rewards patience and precision. Subtle, smart, and satisfying. One of those games that quietly gets under your skin.
“Leo The Square” is a wonderfully atmospheric game that immediately draws you in with its charming visuals and relaxing soundtrack. The art style and overall mood create a unique experience that makes you want to spend more time in its world. However, one downside is that the game can be completed rather quickly, which means you don’t get to fully immerse yourself or enjoy everything it has to offer for long. I found myself wishing for more challenging levels to extend the experience. Best of luck to the developer—I’m looking forward to seeing more complex stages in future updates!
better than demo, more levels, the best things about the game are shadows & lights and nice chill music, my only concern is to have an option to keep moving forward after jumping over the wall, currently, if you want to move to the right and hold right + jump over a wall - you jump at place and don't keep moving, you can still play around it by pressing movement to the left or right again, makes the game harder but more challenging! Worth your money. P.S. there is also a level with different mechanics and it's pretty cool!
