Cute little game with a good narrative. My only bad point is that the game can be a bit too punishing sometimes.
A pretty nice action platformer. Not exactly a metroid-vania, for there is little use in backtracking, but sometimes that is a good thing. Good boss design and interesting art direction.
Criminally overlooked.
The game is full of platforming scenes where you need to perform ~20 jumps between two save points, while the platforms are crumbling and enemies shoot at you, any mistake cost you a restart. This could be fine, if the controls would be fluid, but this is not the case in this game: I've died 99% of times because the character simply didn't move the way I've wanted him - having jump direction and climbing on the same stick does just that, you need to do a high jump a little to the slide, and you'll either fail to grab the ledge or you simply perform a vertical jump while the previous platform have already fallen apart and you'll fall to your death. You can't look up/down, which is less than ideal in a game full of bottomless pits. The enemies are constantly respawning which is necessary for the skill/pouch/ether system, but killing them is just boring, like the whole combat system. The casual enemies are either annoying fast flying mobs (bats/insects/birds) with low hp, tankier enemies which are kid's play to dodge and shooters which are only there to accidently hit you mid-air while you are above a bottomless pit. The boss fights are typically consists of finding a pattern and repeat it 10-20 times, or just a gauntlet with normal enemies. The story is there only for the game to have any, you start your journey as an innocent fisher boy, performing genocide on a whole sentient tribe the same afternoon. There were parts I kinda enjoyed and was curious about the rest of the game, but the terrible controls during the cliché "rising water platform scene" made me drop the game at 25%
I gave this game a try a while back and figured I should actually leave my review. The game's art style is interesting and enjoyable. The music does a great job of setting the tone. The overall presentation and pacing is well done. Albeit, navigating maps can be confusing and may make progress a bit slow. The battle mechanics do their job well, as does the platforming. Maybe some sections can lead to some frustrations, but nothing I found unbearable. The story itself is not quite what I was expecting, which also made it refreshing. It was a pretty unique take on a hero and a journey. All-in-all, this game was enjoyable and something I feel I should go back to at least give it a run or two more. I appreciate this game for being a different adventure to play and for what it is. There might not be anything outright spectacular for me but I feel it's an experience a lot of people should give a try. If anything, maybe a reminder for all of us to just make things. It doesn't need to be perfect or have all the things. Just make it fun and give it a personality.
A decent game, finished on normal mode in a bit under 6 hours; wouldn't play it a second time or on a harder difficulty. The various comparisons to Zelda-genre seem a bit off to me, it's more like a close-up Metroidvania. However, there are no puzzles and it's very linear (even when you backtrack you know exactly where you're backtracking to, and it's linear enough that it neither has nor needs a map). The combat is okay, but not a lot of variety. The end is a bit abrupt, feels like there was plans for one more level and then it got pushed out instead. For a close-up platformer with a similar feel (but more puzzle and less repetition) I'd suggest Hellheim.
Bon petit jeu !
Great action adventure. Quite the hidden gem
This game is an interesting platformer, reminiscent of the games of old while keeping up with some more recent gameplay mechanics. This little game does not have the grandiose cinematics of bigger videogames with big budget, but the story is told like a book and the art is beautiful. The game design is quite nice and is accompanied with a very good soundtrack. It offers a good challenge at normal mode and the boss fights are quite interesting, each having its own twist to beat it. There is a good variety of level, from the nice forest to what fells like the depth of hell, passing by swamps and creepy spider caves. There are secrets to find to upgrade your weapons and spells, as well as scrolls detailing the world around. Overall, it's quite a wonderful fun little game that is worth you time.
Fun platformer! Reasonable learning curve, intriguing storyline, fluid controls and easily navigable levels. A little stilted at the beginning with lots of dialogue, but very fun overall. Would be nice to be able to rebind keys and exit game directly from play
