"Given the choice, whether to rule a corrupt and failing empire, or to challenge the fates for another throw - a better throw - against one's destiny... what was a king to do?" The Legacy of Kain: Defiance is the last entry in the Legacy of Kain series (Ignoring junk), so if you're here you must've played the previous entries and you finally made it to the last game, OR you have already played all the games and you're interested in the remaster. In both cases, this game is worth it.
IF YOU PLAYED ALREADY: (No Spoilers)
The biggest difference this remaster has to offer is the new camera perspective, you can now play the game with a modern third-person over the shoulder camera perspective at all times, instead of the dated fixed camera angle perspective similar to games like DmC and classic Resident Evil. This makes the famously annoying platforming segments MUCH easier and overall provides a totally different experience from the original (Keeping in mind that you can switch perspectives at any time). The remaster also includes overhauled textures and completely remade models for all characters and enemies including different skins to unlock and play with, which are fine. Unfortunately most bugs and crashes HAVE NOT been fixed, you are sadly guaranteed to experience at least a couple of bugs in your playthrough, in my 10 hour playthrough my game has crashed twice and I was soft locked once. It is absolutely a shame that these bugs haven't been fixed with this remaster. Otherwise the game is mostly stable and runs on high refresh rates and resolutions.
IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED BEFORE:
If you're going through the series now after hopefully playing Soul Reaver 1, Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 1, well you've already made it this far, so I doubt you aren't interested to see how the series ends. And you get the answers to whatever questions you still had. Compared to SR1 and SR2, you're gonna find the gameplay MUCH smoother, the combat feels really fluid, and it's fun to hit combos with your melee and telekinesis. The writing and music are still as good as previous entries, the enemy variety is acceptable and the bosses are fine, the puzzles aren't as intricate or complicated as those in the previous games, but they are still fun to solve. PS. If you haven't played Blood Omen 2 yet, the perfect time to play it is after finishing this game. "But does one ever truly have a choice? One can only match, move by move, the machinations of Fate, and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Incredible remaster BUT I reached chapter 12 final boss and autosave didn‘t work. Clicked chapter 12 in chapter select menu in hopes of fixing it and game autosaved me to chapter 12 beginning. Had to sacrifice achievements to enable cheats and redo the whole chapter because it was just so much. This kinda ruined the ending for me. The manual save relies on checkpoints and autosave isn‘t super trustworthy. Also got some crashing. But still such an amazingly done and put together remaster and great game.
i didnt expect to love this game like i do
