I bought this because it reminded me of the old Nintendo games that i loved when i was a kid. Thankfully i was not disappointed. I felt like i had gone back in time but with a modern flare. I do recommend this game. It is both challenging and rewarding!
This game is a flashback to the past! I love the characters as they remind me of final fantasy/ old Nintendo RPG style games. The upgrades are nice and this is challenging and will take me some time to get it down to get through the first level. I have already put in a couple hours and can tell I will enjoy getting through the next few levels. Fun quick game with a challenge!
A 40ish-Year-Old Gamer's Review I'm pretty sure you can finish this game in about 3 hours. I have over 15. That should tell you everything. As a gamer rapidly approaching the age where I make involuntary noises when standing up, I wasn't expecting a simple pixel RPG to completely hijack my free time. Yet here we are. Before the last major update, I spent hours running zones, farming, and generally doing "one more run" until suddenly it was way past bedtime. The simplicity is what hooked me. It respected my time. No battle passes. No daily chores disguised as content. No 47 different currencies. Just a game that lets you sit down, have fun for 30 minutes, and then walk away. In theory. In reality, it made me dust off my Steam Deck so I could sneak in runs during lunch breaks at work whenever I needed a mental reset. The music deserves special mention. It gave me flashbacks to playing FF3 on the SNES (FFVI if you're one of those people). You know that feeling when a random battle theme suddenly changes and your brain immediately says, "Uh oh, this one's important"? This game nails that. Now, to be fair, launch was rough. Achievements didn't pop. Scaling was weird. The UI needed work. Sound effects felt off. The discussions page looked like a town hall meeting after a natural disaster. But here's the thing: the developer was everywhere. Fixes came fast. Feedback was heard. Complaints (including mine) weren't ignored. I genuinely hope the developer enjoyed making this game as much as I enjoyed playing it. This is one of those rare games I'll never uninstall. When an update drops—especially one involving achievements cough cough—I'll be right back. Is the price a little steep for the amount of content? Yeah, probably. But if the developer keeps adding content without nickel-and-diming players with paid DLC, it starts feeling a lot more reasonable. And honestly? If the next major update doubled the content and came as paid DLC, I'd probably buy it immediately. Why? I want to support the developer. I've spent twice this game's price on AAA titles that somehow gave me half the enjoyment. Is this game perfect? Nope. Does it scratch that rose-colored-glasses itch of being 15 years old, coming home from school, firing up a pixel RPG, and completely losing track of time until your parents ask why your homework isn't done? Absolutely. And for a few hours, that's worth a lot.
I love the gameplay and old school aesthetic. I was happily surprised with the feature that allows you to unlock new characters. Great game. Would recommend.
great game
Fun RPG game, Unique style. pleasant to play
Feels like an old school SNES game, in a good way. I enjoyed the simplicity of it, while still requiring you to strategize how to get through the game. Definitely takes multiple attempts. Fun and worth it!
