Lamentum is a pixel art survival-horror game set in New England in the mid-nineteenth century. To solve the dark secret at the heart of Grau Hill Mansion, you will have to immerse yourself in a nightmare world full of terrible creatures.
Choose well in whom to trust, every decision you make may alter the course of the story.
Will you survive?
Lamentum is inspired by classic survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill along with cosmic horror masterpieces, especially the Cthulhu mythos.
Lamentum is a dark and adult-themed game, in which the player can enjoy classic survival-horror gameplay.
Lamentum is a classic survival horror, so our protagonist will attain different weapons and tools during his stay at Grau Hill Mansion.
Victor will need a lamp to see in the dark, to use lock picks to open sealed doors and chests and use restoratives to recover his health. A myriad of other tools will be needed to forge a path through this twisting nightmare world.

To defend against the dangers that haunt him, Victor will have many melee and ranged weapons at his disposal.

Each weapon is different and has unique strengths and weaknesses. Choosing your weapon carefully is essential to survival.

Firearms provide a huge advantage due to their range, but they consume ammunition, a resource that is scarce in Grau Hill Mansion.

Many items may be hidden at first, use your ingenuity to find them.

You can play Lamentum with keyboard and mouse (in the PC version) or use a gamepad.

Your inventory is limited, and you will have to choose which objects to carry at each moment. In certain places you can use the item box to store objects for later use.

Our inventory system allows you to create shortcuts to frequently used objects.
This system allows players, for example, to quickly switch between a melee weapon, a ranged weapon and a potion, making combat more agile and effective.
In addition, we can consult a diary that will record the thoughts and annotations of our protagonist.

The world of Lamentum is full of nightmare creatures, each of them with different behaviors and attacks.

Creatures are not the only danger in Grau Hill Mansion, there are traps that will reward your ingenuity or punish your mistakes with death, dangerous puzzles, and lethal environments.

During your nightmarish journey you will meet other characters and strange beings. Think carefully about who you trust and who you don’t… every decision you make can have important consequences.

Lamentum will have different endings depending on Victor’s decisions during the game. We want Lamentum to be a replayable experience and a challenge to obtain the best possible end.

Short Experience, but alot of depth. I really like the weapons and the setting quite a bit. There were some puzzles that were really difficult, but I managed. Has a really good story from the beginning. There is a bug that I ran into with saves where the text would constantly pop up when I tried to make a save, but I managed to fix it the mouse and keyboard. I mostly played on controller and it ran pretty smooth. You could beat the game without shooting a single bullet. Give the demo a try first like I did and then if you really want to see what happens next play the rest of the game.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Pretty good all around. The story is kinda average for the more supernatural focused survival horror games, but it's told well enough. The puzzles are more logical than average for the genre, and avoid moon logic too much. Good for anyone wanting more survival horror. Only thing to really point out is the melee combat. This game is gonna be rough if you can't get into a good rhythm with it. If you can get down the hit and dash away method then you'll clear the majority of monsters in the game without any issues, but you really need to get good with it. I found it fairly easy compared to some other 2D action games, but if you're inexperienced you might want to practice on the early monsters a bit.
The chaps at Obscure Tales have tipped their hat most enthusiastically to those Resident Evil roots. Set in gloomy 1850s New England, you play Victor Hartwell, seeking a cure for his ailing wife in the sinister Grau Hill Mansion. Pixel-art nightmares unfold with Lovecraftian dread: tentacled horrors, cosmic terrors and puzzles that fog one’s monocle. The atmosphere is first-rate, shadowy and oppressive, with save-room melodies whispering of Raccoon City days. Combat feels a touch sluggish and some backtracking drags, yet the gothic charm and multiple endings more than make up for it. A ripping homage to classic survival horror, delivering proper chills with a stiff upper lip. Thoroughly recommended, old bean, for the discerning soul who enjoys a spot of refined terror.
This was maybe the best 2D horror game I have ever played. The game is fun, atmospheric and full of twists/complications. I loved the puzzles, which werent any hard, but they made you think about the puzzle, which is a great positive in a game full of mindless/automated fighting with monsters. The characters are interesting, even though you meet some for a brief moment throughout the game. The most difficult thing for me was keeping track of "quests" and where to go next, because that map is HUGE. In those games I always love the progression system, meaning you get better weapons by assembling them, completing puzzles, finding code combination for them, the same applies for the different locations and rooms hidden behind some findable keys or puzzles that need to be completed. Only real con was me wandering around the map and looking on for what to do next, but I had succesfully eliminated that thanks to a guide made by user "Skramz", which I want to give a big thanks for. The NPC/monster design was interensting and safe to say, original. To conclude, I want to say thank you to the studio behind this game and I am really looking forward to playing their upcoming game "INANIMA". Final points are: Gameplay: 5/5, no issues, enjoyable and simple controls. Game design: 6/5, well-made monsters, some issues with map design tho. Replayability: 1/5, Im not counting the different endings you can approach from one save, because you are not really replaying. In this case this metric aint fair, the game still gave me 15 hours of gameplay that I had enjoyed, so lets compromise on 3/5. Environment: 5/5. Final conclusion: 19/20 - 4.75/5 - Superb.
Muito bom!
