Positive Aspects:
🔹Cartoonish looking Artstyle. 🔹Solid level design. 🔹Multiple Combat mechanics 🔹Fluidity in movement.
Negative Aspects:
🔸Can get repetitive ( too much recycling ). 🔸A little too short in my opinion. 🔸Shoving is a little overpowered.
Introduction
Kurr Snaga is a fast-paced first person melee brawler where players act as the last Orc left from their tribe taking revenge on the evil humans. It was developed and published by NoTime Studios on May 10th 2019.
Gameplay:
Again Kurr Snaga is a fast paced Indie game that involves around CQ Melee fights. CQC: In Kurr Snaga you can use multiple swords going from Axes to Swords and even knives, your opponents can block your normal attacks which means that you either have to hide them form the sides where they cannot defend themselves or to just be faster than them recovering and basically hitting them while they recover. Every weapons does the same damage to enemies as every enemy requires on hit to die. Another useful tactic is to shove them which makes them lose balance and causes them to fall down and be unprotected for a while, this tactic is useful when a bunch of enemies come towards you and you can use a Domino effect to make everyone fall down and get some easy kills. Lastly you can block all possible enemy attacks as well and if a parry is well times you can make them lose balance just like the shove. Despite being quite simple I really enjoyed the CQC in this game. Long Range Combat: Now LRC is in my opinion a very situational option for you to win. It should be avoided in the beginning because if your throw your weapon and the enemy is either able to dodge it or block then you're in a weird position because you will need to pick up the weapon again and in that situation without a weapon you basically can't do much except shove people as far as CQC goes. Now if you've killed already a decent amount of enemies I would suggest to go for Long range kills as you can re pick all the weapons and just loop the enemies as they are not as fast or agile as your character. Movement / Maps: Lastly movement and Maps are actually weapons as well as you can use the shove button and throw objects on enemies which again makes them lose balance and be vulnerable for some seconds or in some Maps you have a cliff or a huge hole or even some deadly props where you can simply throw enemies onto or into and get easy kills even without using any weapons. The game really does a great job to have multiple choices to choose from, good job. Note: If it had Multiplayer it would be godly.
Story:
The game doesn't really posses a quote on quote story but looking at the Store Page you play as the last standing Orc of your clan and you basically plan to take revenge against the evil humans for destroying everything.
Graphics/ Audio:
Now the game looks quite cartooney which adds some character in my opinion as all the game isn't built up to be a serious and realistic setting but more like a fun game to play and have fun. All the Maps have their own setting and all of them look very nice and simplistic. Keep in mind this isn't a great looking game but it does posses a nice artstyle which gives it a unique character in my opinion. Graphics: Again the game looks a little outdated and has rather small and simplistic maps but it honestly looks unique, here are some screenshots etc. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1741299386 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1741299562 Audio/Soundtrack: There is no Voice acting except some grunting and other weird sounds, what I really liked was the soundtrack which matches perfectly the game.
Performance :
On Low End Devices: Intel Core i5 5200U, 8GB RAM, Intel HD 5500: I was running the Game on Maxed out settings with +45fps on 1366x768p resolution On High End Devices: Intel Core i7 4790k, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1070: I was running the Game on Maxed out settings with +60fps on 1080p resolution. Bugs/ Glitches/ Crashes: In around 3 hours of killing evil humans I experienced no Bugs, gamebreaking glitches or crashes at all. Good performance honestly.
Price :
For 9,99Eur. I will have to say that this is not worth the game, although I am a fan of it, I can't really give that much money for a game with that little content, in the sales it probably is a much much better investment but as of regular pricing I will have to say no.
Conclusion :
Kurr Snaga is a very unique looking fast paced game, which nice challenges, maps and multiple options to get to the win, if you can look past the price you get yourself a hidden gem. Absolutely awful. I can see why the developer is called "NoTime Studios" because they spend No Time making this game. It's a cobbled together set of (pre-bought??) assets with barely any collision detection, weird frame-pacing causing the game to stutter (I'm on a 1080), all the enemies have the exact same move set, every level seems the same. The strategy to beat this game is to press E to kick everybody and slash them to death while they're down. There's a ton of bugs too. Avoid at all costs. You have something better to do with your time and money.
The game is fun but, it does get very repetative very fast
I really wanna recommend this game, it's so close, but I just can't. Do not get me wrong, the game is absolutely a joy to play. It's exactly as advertised! I received this game to try on my live stream and I got through the first 11 levels pretty hastily. Smashing and crashing through enemies and obstacles was a blast! The absurd physics mechanics and methods of killing enemies is joy inducing hilarity that easily brings a laugh and smile to your face. Plus the low-poly art style and music are pretty awesome. Here comes the bad part. The game is completely unbalanced. For the first few levels you won't feel it at all. Then suddenly you find yourself on the unbeatable level 12. I don't just mean like "man-this-is-tough-unbeatable", I mean literally impossible. I tried many, many strategies, and found myself only with 35 of 65 kills every time. No matter which strategy I took I had the same amount of kills in the same amount of time every time. At the beginning of the level the enemies spawn too slowly so you find yourself with a minute left and only 15/65 kills, and then at the end so many spawn its impossible to kill them all. Trying your best on this level I doubt you will ever hit 40 kills. These issues exist through a few levels. But this level is, quite literally, impossible to pass. With a few balance updates, the game will be a blast and a definite buy, but until then, I'd avoid. Without repeating content that you have already beaten, you will likely only have an hour or so of game play before reaching this stopping point. I'll also update my review when that update arrives, if ever.
Top little gem of a game, for ten bucks you get to live the true Orc experience - a hectic smash-and-dash brawler with beautiful graphics, a fun medieval soundtrack and plenty of ways to kill the enemy! Smash them with your sword, hurl an axe at their head, drop logs on them or just KICK THEM INTO THE SEA! Would definitely recommend and would love to see more levels and gameplay expansion, my favourite NoTime game yet
Weapons don't do anything special, armor doesn't do anything special, everything dies in 1 hit, the ai is awful. I just don't see any point to play this game at this point.
--EDIT-- So thanks to the recent update to the game I can now happily recommend it. It's quite short, but very fun the whole way through. Sweet and simple. If you love kicking people into a variety of death traps, bottomless lagoons, or simply other people then this game is certainly for you. --Old Review TLDR; A specific level was broke. Now it be fix.-- I really wanted to recommend this game. I really like the silly combat and love just kicking people into various traps. The silly bugs and the vicious ever rolling logs of death. However after playing for about 20 minutes I got to a particular level on the Port map where you have 2:30 minutes to kill 65 dudes. At first I thought this was great, that it would be a crazy mess of booting people into the water. But it wasn't at all. After the first few times I ran out of time I realized that it wasn't quite what I thought. At the end of the time the best score I could get was around 30. I ended up playing this level alone for around an hour trying to figure it out. Even when I ran around and killed every dude almost as soon as they spawned I couldn't get even close to 65. It just felt like enough weren't spawning in. So to check that I wasn't being a complete idiot I stood in a place where the dudes couldn't reach me and waited until 00:01 and then paused. Took a screenshot and then counted the dudes that had spawned. I counted 29. Assuming a few were hidden behind my sword that's maybe 31 or 32. (I even uploaded to screenshot so anyone curious can confirm I'm not crazy https://imgur.com/a/IvurA81 ) I don't know if this is a bug or I'm just being an idiot or what. But for now I all I can say is this game is broken?!? (Although please do correct me if I'm wrong because I do quite like pretty much everything else about the game.)
Kurr Snaga.

Schade
