Tags: Adventure - Sidescroll Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Chase hoptspots and offer minor interaction to progress, lasts a few hours, not fun. Not recommended It is a game about being lost in a forest, and throwing objects and singing musical notes to statues for the most part, the game backtracks on itself so you see some environments more than once and it is mostly monochrome. It is not very entertaining I will be removing it for declutter.
Short, sweet, and simple
...and indeed, an hour or so into the game, I wondered if it might be *too* simple for its own good. I’ve played quite a number of pretty similar games, and when it became clear that the gameplay certainly wouldn’t set it apart from the crowd, I wondered if anything would really make it stand out. But even with those reservations, it was doing enough to hold my interest, so I stuck with it – and I’m glad I did. While it’s true that I would prefer the gameplay to have been at least a little more involved, the character art and animations are great, with the wordless expressiveness of the player avatar being really well achieved, and the sweetness and charm of his doggo friend being completely irresistible. In addition, the soundtrack is excellent (even if the repetition takes the shine off by the end of the game), and as simple as the story may be, a couple of interesting decisions were made which help to keep it engaging and not feeling overly clichéd. With a lightness of touch, the game manages to imbue a sense of emotional authenticity into the interactions between the lead character and the puppy, and that is by far its greatest strength. Unfortunately, despite there evidently being some patching to address such issues, I did run into a bug. The game would put itself into a locked state either just before, during, or immediately after a certain interaction, which meant I had to repeat one section of the game 5 times or so before it actually worked as intended and allowed me to continue. Thankfully, I didn’t find that too frustrating, and after I progressed past that section nothing similar happened again, but it did pull me out of things somewhat. Ultimately, if the trailer appeals to you, and you go into it expecting a fairly short and lightweight game, I’d be very surprised if you come away feeling let down. I’m glad I got to play Koira, and I will remember it fondly.
Perrito bonito que hace soniditos
Koira is a very emotional and beautiful game about making a new friend (dog) and going into an adventure with scary, fun, and sad parts. Mechanics are very simple, puzzles not complicated, and playthrough involves some stealth to go forward. Soundtrack is beautiful, and art is very nice and cute. At first the game called my attention for its name "Koira", which means "dog" in finnish, and after completing it stayed in my heart for such a nice story. Also,
hunters do not deserve any mercy, not even for a game achievement
.
A really great experience
