I do not think its a terrible game.
I had to start the review like that, peer pressure and all.
An archery tower defense, on a budget. Honestly, I was going to thumbs this down, but after discovering the price (I got this in a bundle), its a thumbs up by the skin of its teeth. Pretty much every aspect of this could use some work. Sounds not great, the arrow is a little too finicky to nock, even in the short time I played it I came across issues (mobs got stuck inside the gate I was to defend and could not be shot - had to use a map-wide expensive ability to kill them), design choices not great (selecting towers to either build or upgrade requires you to shoot them, which starts to become a pain when you want to build on a far off one in the middle of your game). There is potential, but it really does need more work. I would recommend you wait to see if any patches drop for it. I cant see any activity at all for this from the devs - no patch info (if there was any) and the only thread currently on the forum regarding bugs has no dev responses. Again, only because they are not being greedy its a thumbs up, BUT if it receives no updates, I would suggest avoiding.
+I do not think its a terrible game +Tower/Wall Defender +Multiple levels +Nice # of towers +Nice Price for EA -Towers seem to focus randomly -No update since game was put into Early Access -Devs abandoned it? 0/5 Great tower/wall defender, decent bow mechanics, cheap. I'd pick this up if it weren't abandoned. I cannot recommend a game that will never be completed, otherwise this would be a 4/5 easily. I do not think its a terrible game, I just kind of wise you had the ability to change towers easier. Sometimes on maps towers get in the way of bases but besides that for $3.99 its a pretty fun game. Its a nice little game which you can take a chance on due to the price and I would have to say its pretty good. Hopefully they add a little more we will see. Its nice to have the multiplayer I have not tried it seeing as no one plays but hopefully that changes.
its not a terrible game. It has a similar game play to the bow and arrow game in labs. I like the additoin of the towers and stuff but wish the towers did more damage. The towers dont hardly do any damage compared to the damage I do with my bow. You will find that you will need to use your bow and arrow the whole game, aposed to mainly focusing on upgrading your towers and observing your tower stratagy. Some of the maps could use some improvment but for its value I would recomed giving it a go.
Kingdom Watcher is an abandoned Early Access VR exclusive 3D "tower defense"/wave survival game with low poly graphics and unethical developers. The game was abandoned roughly immediately at launch and hasn't been updated in almost 5 years. It blew past the developers commitment to complete the game without any notification or admission of failure from the developer. There's no reliable indication the game will ever be completed, which is a reason for gamers to avoid this. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game isn't great at all. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. That's right, only 3. This is a pitiful enough number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is remarkable, but also to be expected. This complete and utter rejection of the game from gamers should be a keen information point for anyone considering buying shovelware like this. Gamers just didn't take this seriously, and for good reason. Unethically, the developer sold keys to this abandoned Early Access game into cheap, nasty game bundles, where they knew it would be advertised and sold as a complete game. This seems to have been done in an attempt to mislead gamers into buying a knowingly faulty, defective and incomplete product. When a developer does this for a game they have zero practical intention of completing, this is essentially a scam, an intention to get paid for a broken/unfinished product. Often this is done as an exit strategy, as the developer takes the money and runs. No refunds have been given, the developer kept all the money they took from gamers. Doubling down on their unethical behaviour, while the single studio/individual team is selling this game under Valve's failed Early Access program, they're abusing that program, and not working on this game full time, as they have other projects in the works. That means there's ZERO confidence anyone who buys this in Early Access will receive a complete game, and it's possible that they're being scammed. And yet they deliberately leave this up on Steam with no intention to finish the game, trying to scam gamers into buying it. Well, don't. Kingdom Watcher is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.
Garbage
