Enjoyable HOG with an engaging story. It requires a bit more backtracking than others I've played, which is both fun and irritating at times. Especially if you take a break and then come back to have no idea what puzzles you were trying to solve. There are also a lot of similar things so it's like, I get the 'chest key'. Which chest? There's like 5, LOL. I even liked the challenge of the drawing lines minigame. ^-^
Just an overall entertaining game.
FR/EN King's Heir : Rise to the Throne
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3319907181
---FR---
King's Heir: Rise to the Throne is a point-and-click adventure game from publisher Artiflex Mundi. For those unfamiliar, Artiflex Mundi offers a fairly extensive catalog of point-and-click games focused on finding hidden objects within detailed scenes. The graphics are well done, as is the music that accompanies this new story. We embark on an adventure with the two Ulmer brothers, who must thwart a plot against the crown and clear their name. We progress through the adventure by solving puzzles by combining and then using the collected objects. The mechanics are simple, and the game is well-made. Exploring the various detailed levels is a pleasure, and the story, which has its share of surprises, unfolds gradually. The hidden object sections are well-executed, and the visuals are pleasing. We progress smoothly to the final conclusion of this adventure. The game encourages contemplation and observation to find the various objects hidden throughout the levels. It will take 4 to 5 hours to complete the adventure, and a little longer if you miss a collectible. Ultimately, the game is enjoyable and should appeal to fans of this genre. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3319907069
Not bad at all; compared to the drivel that Brave Giant has been foisting upon us, this HOG developed by Cordelia Games and published by Artifex Mundi (who regrettably seem to have long since ditched the PC game marked) has good looking graphics/animations, acceptable writing/voice acting, decent (if repetitive) music and some absolutely AOK hidden object puzzles and mini-games. Nothing here is going to blow you away, but everything is competently done for a change. Note that it will take you ~3 hours to finish both the main game and the extra/bonus game, so judge what you're prepared to spend accordingly. Recommended.

King’s Heir: Rise to the Throne is a story-driven hidden-object adventure that comfortably fits within Artifex Mundi’s well-established tradition of casual fantasy mysteries. Developed by Cordelia Games and published by Artifex Mundi, the game blends courtly intrigue, medieval fantasy, and classic point-and-click puzzle design into a concise experience that prioritizes accessibility and narrative momentum over mechanical complexity. It is clearly aimed at players who enjoy guided exploration, light problem-solving, and a steady unfolding of story rather than open-ended gameplay or demanding challenges. The narrative centers on betrayal and political conspiracy, beginning with the assassination of a king and the framing of two loyal knights. You play as Edmund Ulmer, forced into exile and pursued by royal forces while attempting to uncover the truth behind the crime. The journey quickly expands beyond simple survival, evolving into a quest to locate the rightful heir to the throne and expose the hidden powers manipulating events from the shadows. While the plot follows familiar fantasy tropes—false accusations, secret lineages, and corrupt advisors—it maintains enough intrigue to motivate progression and provide context for the many locations and puzzles encountered along the way. Gameplay is structured around traditional hidden-object scenes interwoven with exploration and minigames. Players move between illustrated locations, collecting items, combining tools, and solving puzzles to unlock new areas. The hidden-object scenes are frequent but generally fair, avoiding excessive pixel hunting and relying on clear visual language. Optional hint systems ensure that progress never becomes frustrating, reinforcing the game’s relaxed, approachable nature. Minigames range from simple logic puzzles to mechanical challenges such as locks or pattern matching, offering brief changes in pace without significantly raising difficulty. The game’s pacing is steady and well-controlled. New locations and story beats are introduced regularly, preventing the experience from stagnating despite its relatively short length. Backtracking is present but limited, and objectives are usually clear enough to keep players oriented. For casual players, this structure provides a satisfying sense of forward movement, while more experienced hidden-object fans may find the simplicity reassuring rather than stimulating. The bonus chapter extends the story slightly, offering additional scenes and closure without dramatically changing the gameplay formula. Presentation is one of the game’s stronger aspects. Environments are richly illustrated, with castles, forests, villages, and interior spaces rendered in a colorful, storybook style that suits the fantasy setting. Character portraits and occasional animations add personality to dialogue exchanges, while voice acting—though not constant—enhances immersion and helps distinguish characters. The musical score and ambient sound design support the adventure tone without drawing attention away from puzzle-solving, creating a cohesive audiovisual experience. Despite its polish, King’s Heir: Rise to the Throne does not attempt to innovate within its genre. Mechanics remain familiar throughout, and puzzle complexity rarely escalates beyond introductory levels. For players seeking deep challenge or systemic variety, the game may feel overly straightforward. Its length also limits replay value once all collectibles and achievements are obtained, making it more of a one-evening adventure than a long-term engagement. Ultimately, King’s Heir: Rise to the Throne succeeds as a comfortable, well-produced hidden-object adventure that delivers exactly what it promises. It offers a clear story, attractive visuals, and a smooth learning curve that makes it welcoming to newcomers and relaxing for genre veterans. While it may not leave a lasting impression for players seeking innovation or depth, it stands as a solid example of casual fantasy storytelling and puzzle design, best enjoyed as a brief escape into a familiar and neatly packaged medieval mystery. Rating: 7/10
Pretty fun, ok story, good visuals
i played this game offline (hence the time played doesn't do justice) while internet was down in my area. i've played this game with a rough estimate of 3 to 4 hours in one sitting, both the main and side stories. the plot twist was quite eh as well as the
villain was defeated.
i wish, though that i have seen more of the story or characters. i was going to mention: the appearance of text seems hd here, and the only game i've played so far that has that. some dialogues are inside the boxes as well. the execution is interesting as an overall statement and cordelia games definitely did not disappoint. this is a solid 7.5/10 and would definitely recommend to others.
