Reviews
To be honest, if I could give this game a neutral review, I would. Its nothing great but its also FAR from the worst title I've played Before I get into the meat and potatoes of this title, a bit of something unconventional, in other words how I got this game for free and some information i was told regarding it The information I can disclose is that I was NOT given any further compensation for this review, so this review is my own opinion/doing and I got the key for this game from a person who aided in publishing this title for the purpose of review To that reviewer I thank you again for the key Lastly, is to anyone reading this, keep in mind that I was informed that this game was developed as a proof of concept style game and was made using unity in 3 months, therefore, keep in mind the games scope and scale while taking my review into account Now onto the review Kill the Humans essentially is an amalgamation of Gauntlet, Alien Shooter, Heavy Weapon, and Chips Challenge all together The Alien Shooter/Gauntlet elements come in the form of this being a top down isometric twin stick shooter where you explore a map, gather weapons and resources, and fight hordes of enemies as you search for power ups, health and eventually the exit The elements of Heavy Weapon and Chips Challenge come in the form of the simplistic/basic art style and playing as a tank as you roam around collecting different weapons Now, as I mentioned keep in mind this game was developed within 3 months as a proof of concept, (With this in mind, I am giving the game some credence/leeway) While the gunplay and feel of the game is fun and the music is decent for what it is, where this game gets docked down a few points (but again, given the games scope its not a game breaker, no pun intended) is the following Given the simplistic style of the art for this title, at times it is hard to tell what objects/items can be picked up/interacted with or which ones are just part of the background Second, to my knowledge it doesn't seem like you are able to die, I could be wrong, but it seems like you can merely ram into enemies Third-Their isn't an objective marker or a map to show you what you need or where you have to go, now DON'T GET ME WRONG, there are objectives that are shown to you to read before the start of each level, but arrows or a decent mini map would help making getting lost/going in circles FAR less frequent, it's this reason that I was only able to get to level 2 To be short, sweet and to the point The gunplay, power ups, and music are nice for what they are (not groundbreaking),and basic level design isn't the issue, its the fact that key features that would make the game more better paced and less tedious One may wonder, "Well then how the hell can you reccomend this game" As brought up before, the good parts thankfully make the game not a complete slog or a complete pain. To be blunt, the good and bad balance each other out, the good doesn't outweigh the bad and the bad doesn't outweigh the good People should be able to enjoy this decent game for what it is as long as they aren't expecting too much My ONLY advice is wait for the game to be on sale For what you get and with how little time the game was made, its a fun little distraction and time waster, but its no award winner/hidden gem either
