About
In Kevin's Path to Wizdom, you’ll face a greater challenge than ever. You’ll have to be a wiz kid to beat this one — and thankfully, you already are. You play as Kevin, a wizarding student, though you aren’t doing much magic these days. After all, being the handsomest kid in school sure does take a lot of work! That is until one day, this no-good thief up and steals your face! You just can’t face your classmates without it, of course, so the adventure begins.
You’ll have to navigate through the dark and gloomy dungeons beneath the academy to fight enemies aplenty, from rats to slimes to whatever that thing is.
…Yeah, we’ll let you find out for yourself on that one. Either way, you’ll have to collect these mysterious spells and cast them using a unique gesture-based spellcasting system. Draw the pattern of the spell in the 3x3 aether grid in any direction you choose to kill an enemy, break down a door, or uncover some secrets along the way.
You can’t just keep blasting Magic Missile forever, though, and that’s where movement comes in. Click on yourself to wait a turn, click on one of the green squares around you to creep around one turn at a time, or click and drag to advance multiple turns at once.
Choose wisely, though — each turn that passes is another chance to kill or be killed. You won’t be the only thing creeping around in this place. Check your enemy’s movement range and health, then navigate carefully. With stronger enemies each level and increasingly mind boggling turn-based maps, it’ll take more than just blind luck to make it out alive.
Thankfully, you’ll get stronger as you go along too. Each time you use a spell, its specific skill-meter goes up until you cross a threshold and suddenly start blasting away enemies from even further away! Or that tiny freezing spell you got in the beginning? It can now freeze almost half the map! But remember, with great power comes great responsibility.
Explore every inch of these sordid halls and you might just find extra potions, hearts to expand your life meter, and maybe even some forbidden spells. Each new thing you find is just one more chance to make it out alive.
Between plenty of spells to collect and cast, life-saving features like mid-map checkpoints, and tons of mazes to explore, you’ll have plenty to enjoy in Kevin's Path to Wizdom.
Challenging tactical turn-based gameplay
Unique and intuitive gesture-based spellcasting system

It's available now in Early Access with tutorial that will explain what is going on while you play. Take on the role of a powerful wizard taking on the dungeon filled with monsters and challenges. You will have to plan your movement according to the information that you can see by clicking on various enemies that you see. You will be able to tell how far they can move, how much health they have, as well how much damage they can do. You will need to plan accordingly to avoid getting hurt or getting killed, in the worse case scenarios. You will find various spell books that teach new spells. These spells are needed to complete various dungeon levels for you to advance. You can also break some objects to find new items, such as potions. You would do well to keep an eye out and do this, because you will maximize your survival chances. That extra potion and extra heart could make a real difference. (I think I forgot at one point and missed out on one myself.)
Graphics
The graphics are top notch in terms of pixel art. I really love them.
Music
The music is very pleasant to listen to.
Controls
The game can be fully played with a mouse.
Gameplay Video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk6WsZ05CCs
Pricing
The price for this genre is just too high. Not many people will buy a puzzle game for this price. It's a good game, but definitely a bit overpriced.
Verdict
Do you want a challenge? The Wizard: WizHarder Edition will give you that challenge. Some levels are so difficult that you may have to try over and over again. A good thing about this is that there are many checkpoints and you won't have to replay the whole level if you die. I do miss having multiple save slots. If you accidentally start a new game, all of your previous progress will be lost. I really think that having old saves while being able to start new games would be a good function for this game. I also would like to see achievements added. Maybe they will be coming before the end of the Early Access period. Overall a great puzzle game and definitely one to try out at some point.
I received the product for free. I already played the classic edition years ago, so the story and gameplay weren't all new to me. But the level design and sound quality of this edition is improved so much that it feels like a whole new game. About the music: Once you hear it, you will never forget it. These catchy tunes are magic, just like the spells you acquire during the game. The gameplay: You may need some time to get used to it, especially the drag & drop movement. But this spell combat system is such a genious idea I have never seen again in any other game. It makes this dungeon crawl much more interesting and immersive than the usual point & click gameplay of your typical round based rogue-like/dungeon crawler. The story: Isn't really epic, but a nice little red thread to follow through the dungeon. Doesn't take itself too serious. The level puzzles can be a bit challenging sometimes, but you will find all the spells you need for beating this game. Do I recommend this game? YES. Absolutely yes. And now go, help Kevin get his face back!
Have been a beta tester for this game, and I can recommend this game for anyone who likes Dungeon Puzzler Games. Never heard of this genre? Well, if you like puzzle games, you'll probably like this game even if you don't like any other dungeoneering game. This is no hack&slay game: each move you make must be planned, each enemy must be analyzed to keep those monsters from diminishing your precious health bar. Also, the music gets into your head and makes you forget the time.
I already played the web edition years ago, so the story and gameplay weren't all new to me. But the level design and gameplay has improved massively with much better graphics, and interesting new traits to enemies than the web version, which is available on Armor Games. Personally, the joy of unlocking brand new spells while advancing along the levels is one of the more addictive aspects of it, whilst being a puzzle turn-based game that requires you to play your spells right and not die. The sound design is a lot more catchy with the tunes that do get stuck in your head, and it does add a sense of being in a magical castle which I personally like, and this sense of immersion is fun. Comparing to flash, there is now enemies that are weak to certain spells and are immune to effects as well which does add some depth to enemies and where you can exploit their weaknesses. Again, the game is in early access so you can influence the game's development.
Cool little Game that you can 100% within ~3 hours. I really enjoyed my time - the spells are fun and creative, the story is light and not too serious, the music is fitting and not annoying over time. The only thing I am missing is the replay value. Otherwise big thumbs up. o/
+ Levels have a lot of secrets to unlock and explore. + Elegant toolkit for combat, and status effects. + Spells are pretty intuitive, and the casting system is unique. + Puzzle roguelike energy, think Drod. + Quirky, chibi pixel art, with modern environmental effects. - For a puzzle game, a lot of the games resources are contingent to performance on previous puzzles for potions and etc. - Scoring system is thematic, but doesn't really make sense. - No sense of urgency to actually get your face. - Gameplay is more roguelike and combat gauntlet than puzzles, which was disappointing to me, I was hoping for more quirky puzzles.
This game touched my soul. My name is Kevin and this game made me wise and learn from Kevin's mistakes. This game changed my life, I would not be where I am today without this game.
really unique game mechanic that's both challenging and fun!
Thank you for fixing the bugs, amazing game
The Wizard is a indie game gem for all the people who like puzzles ... definetly recommend it!
