Mahjong Soul was recently released for free on Steam and seems completely superior to this game in every way by a wide margin, except the lack of offline CPU opponents and perhaps certain custom rule options. Unless that's important to you, there is no reason to risk your money on this game. Kemono Mahjong was apparently the only decent option for Japanese Mahjong on Steam for a long time, but it's buggy and the UI is primitive. Despite the charming art and basic functionality, it feels clunky to interact with and concepts in the tutorials and menus are often presented in a long-winded or unintuitive manner. It's a mobile-first game with desktop support a distant afterthought. Unless you don't have an internet connection, play MS first and only buy this if you feel something is missing that MS can't supply you. Unfortunately I gave the benefit of the doubt to this game beyond the 14 day refund window so now I can afford to buy one fewer overpriced coffees in my lifetime. Enjoy my coffee, Kemono dev ;-p

This is the best client for mahjong. No gacha. No loli garbage. Just mahjong. Well, and furries, but it's tasteful.

I was gifted this game as a way to learn Riichi Mahjong by a friend. As an introduction to Riichi Mahjong, this game is incredibly accessible. The in game tutorials are great, the interface is legible and I love that you can toggle the text on the tiles to make it easier to comprehend at a glance. The AI opponents have varied playstyles based on the character that you select which make the overall game feel like you are actually playing against other individuals rather than just mindless AI without personality. The art style is definitely not typically what I would seek out, but I can easily say as an introduction to Riichi Mahjong, this game is fantastic. Definitely a steal at $5 USD.

So, I got introduced to Mahjong with the Yakuza games and I was confused and _awful_. I am now just _awful_ because of this great game. I have this on at least three platforms. Incredible value. Great way to train and experiment on how to play mahjong with against some interesting bots. If you have a passing interest this is a really good place to start.

it is mahjong but with buff furries! i dont have much comparison experience but i think it is an easy to get into game to grasp the rules and concept of the game! because in mahjong soul, for beginners you do not have time to think and learn too much, this as singleplayer or local multiplayer has more chance to think! the characters are cute i am not a master player now, but had fun and i also was able to play in real life with friends without bigger problems. Because of the skills you get by playing this! recommend for kemono fans who are starting out with mahjong! (and at that price it was a great value for me!)
