Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.75/day in the week to Aug 3 → 6.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Katanaut is a fast-paced, Metroidvania-inspired action roguelite set aboard a massive space station falling into cosmic chaos. With the station slowly spiraling out of control, and its once-human inhabitants twisted into terrors, you’re the unlucky one tasked with uncovering what is going on... assuming you’re able to survive the station's violent halls with souls-like combat.
As Naut, you explore the corridors of this once vibrant station... or what's left of it. The deeper you descend into the station, the environments become more haunting, and the enemies less human.
Through advanced time-manipulation, you’re brought back to life whenever your bio-metrics are no longer detected. In the future where humans are able to download new abilities on demand, the station is now scattered with memory fragments from the fallen. Each one having the potential of being a lost skill or talent waiting to be unlocked.
Every run offers a new pivoted challenge with ever-changing pathways to explore, and pits you against hordes of enemies. Each ride down the station's elevators carries forward progress from the memory fragments you scavenge along your exploration.
In Katanaut, each clash of your blade echoes through the station's empty and flickering corridors, where every corner feels like is a surprise watching you... Whether you thrive in precision combat or prefer dealing with enemies from a safe distance, this is one cleanup job you won't forget.

I don't normally write reviews but this game seems to have flown a bit under the radar and I hope more people check it out. I discovered it during the Cyberpunk genre sale and I'm very glad I decided to give it a chance. I basically no-lifed it all weekend and have now cleared the game up through Warp 3 (the difficulty scaling that unlocks after you win your first run). The gameplay starts off a bit basic and might turn some people off if they have a lot of experience with this genre since it's not really challenging. Fodder enemies barely put up a fight and you're more likely to die to bosses you haven't learned yet, which serve as gear/skill checks along your run. Clearing the game once allows you to begin increasing the difficulty, which is when the game really begins to step into its own. As you play the game more, you find new "memories" of perks, sidearms, and skills that will accumulate in the shop in your base and that you'll purchase with a meta currency you collect during each run. It doesn't take long until you realize that you can put together some absolutely busted builds. I'm not really sure how balanced it is overall as the best strategy is often to just delete the bosses as fast as possible, and I can't imagine every skill is going to feel equally strong in that regard; but I'll admit it's a ton of fun when you discover something new and powerful. The atmosphere and tone and setting/lore are where this game really shines for me. Obviously taking a lot of inspiration from Dead Space, the gross body-horror flesh monsters have some awesome designs and are very satisfying to slash and blast apart. I love all the weird time loop/warp corruption shenanigans that twist the game as you go deeper, and putting together all the random snippets of lore and NPC conversations kept me way more engaged than I expected them to. I love that your character's power comes at a significant cost...story-wise, even if it doesn't really do much from a gameplay perspective. I hope there's a roadmap for more content because I'd love to have an excuse to return to this game when I eventually move on. Right now, I still have a TON of unlocks left to purchase and build combos to discover. It's not perfect or completely polished in every respect, but for a solo dev effort it's rock solid and an easy recommend.

Learning this game was solo-developed impresses me tenfold when I was already pleased with the game. I was gifted this by a friend, so I have no sunk-cost fallacy tainting my bias into saying this is good when it isn't: it's genuinely great. That being said, even if I hadn't been gifted it, I would have bought this 100%. It's like a hybrid of Hades, Cyberpunk 2077 and Blasphemous. The movement feels so smooth and responsive and you don't really get that with many of its contemporaries, there's always a floaty delay to your moves, but not so in this game. The pixel art is gorgeous, the gameplay mechanics are sublime, the NPCs are all distinct and memorable and the generated levels offer a new surprise each time. I haven't spent much time with this game, but I spent long enough to know and vouch that it's good. The amount of content here from a solo developer is staggering: dozens of weapons, upgrades, passives, perks. It's insane the amount of effort put into this. Excited for more runs, it's really solid. Normally not into rogue-likes but this, like Hades, is a gem of an exception.
I enjoy it, similar to dead cells, fast paced and fun.
Update after clearing final difficulty
That was quite the challenge and I think worth it overall once I found my ideal build. It does bring up that same issue I mentioned before were some abilities are seemingly straight butt no matter what you do. Single hit high cost abilities are very low worth. I ended up clearing with the plague ground or whatever that poisons in a giant AOE and you can stack it with the blade that lets you spam abilities, along with the shadow blade that rotates around you for low cost AOE clear. Supposedly there is a lifesteal ability that I never got around to unlocking but that would be nice.
Original Review
A pretty decent roguelite all things considered. I see some reviews calling it a metroidvania but it is not a metroidvania in any way, I suppose because it's 2D and the maps you load into have some altering paths. It is not a metroidvania though, it is a roguelite through and through. Get your upgrades, get a lucky path that you can take in your build to start becoming ridiculously OP, and then push your luck for extreme upgrades to help you explode bosses. It's got a lot of the standard formula for roguelites. The big difference here is there is a lot of speed with your character and scaling feels pretty good if you get to invest heavily. My last run had a gun that normally deals 60-100 damage per shot dealing 900-1000 per shot and then critting for much more. It and some orbs I had were able to blow up bosses. The main story, or loosely what you could consider that, plays out over beating your runs across something like 4 increasing difficulties. Base, Warp 1, Warp 2, and Warp 3. In my time so far I've cleared Base and Warp 1, we'll see if I get around to Warp 2 and 3. The bosses get new abilities and levels get new modifers on higher difficulties along with you getting less access to healing. It's not substantially changing but it's doing some extra things the more you play which is good. It has a lot of pitfalls that your standard roguelites have as well where certain abilities seem pretty terrible, probably unless you get a very specific piece that can go crazy with it. The theme is great and it does a lot of heavy lifting.
Roguelike Katana Zero; what's not to like?
Buen juego pero se ve algo lento en algunas ocaciones
A hidden gem. Absolutely love the aesthetic and art design. If you are a fan of cosmic horror (and roguelikes) I think you will very much enjoy this game. I also really like the story of it and how it progresses through the different warps (difficulties). Anyways cosmic horror is goated and the devs nailed it gameplay is good
