What's here is fantastic, lots of fun with a unique and novel point system, distinctive graphics that looks great without being super high fidelity, and an absolutely banger boss theme. However... This is far too small of an experience. It took me 31 minutes from booting the game for the first time to beating the 3rd and final boss, where-after the game just ends. How there's a demo of this game I'm not sure, because the entire thing is the length of a demo. I'll always support indie developers, especially when the passion is so clear to see, but this isn't worth $10 and it isn't without its issues. Again, what's here is fantastic, and a lot of fun, and the dev clearly put a lot of love into it, but it's just too short and too simple to justify a $10 price tag. I'm marking this as recommended and not refunding it because I want to support indies, & I want to express that I love what's being done here. I'd love to see this game expanded at some point with new stuff. Maybe give us the abilities that the player character uses during cutscenes, and the cool fragmented sword from the promo art?
I'm saying this in the nicest way possible, the game is bad. Camera is very wonky, especially with the target lock, which is also buggy, wall running (and honestly every interaction with a wall) is weird and buggy, each chapter has one "unique" room copy and pasted 10 times in that chapter, with like 0 differences. Also for a game that *seems* to want to be about cool movement and all that, what it ends up being is just target lock and spam attack, with 0 reason to do anything else, except from when you are too far from an enemy, which you can usually just reach with a dash. You also have no incentive to do anything else because the movement does not feel that good, the dash locks you in a path, the wall stuff sucks, etc etc. The attack and target lock are buggy, when target locking, you cannot be too close to a target, or it will not trigger, and when not target locked, if you try to attack, it will usually only start attacking after a few clicks randomly - which is general problem with the game (being unresponsive - probably due to bugs). The bosses are awful and pose no challenge, you can just jump and dash around and you will not get hit, you are just jumping and dashing around waiting for enemies you can target lock on (because normal attack is bugged, as mentioned earlier) to spawn so you can build your hit streak and finally deal 1/3 bars of health to the boss, do this for a minute and that's the boss fights. The game is also incredibly short and bland in the way it looks. Got it at half off and it is still not worth it. The game is not finished, I would not even call this game in beta, more like in an alpha.
too sort game can be finished in 1 hour
Reviewed the BETA of the game given by the developers and here is what I have to say. First impressions based on the game it brought a lot of nostalgia to a series I followed when I was younger called Medabots! The main character reminds me of the characters so it really brought a wave of nostalgia seeing that. Once in the game the gameplay was interesting. As stated in the description you have to move non stop to not be hit by the enemy robots and you slash them with your katana sword. How do you do damage? You accumulate power by defeating enemies who are weaker are you so you can gain power to defeat the enemies who are stronger for you. For example if you want to defeat a enemy whose shield is power of 4. you need to accumulate a strength of 4 by battling enemies that are lower than you. Now I didn't know that that was how you defeat the enemies if I overlook those instructions but I just kept attacking and assume and it wasn't until the final stage I realized it. There is a portion of the game in which you can do a endless attack chain on a line up of enemies, and this function can be compared to if anyone ever played Sonic Adventures 2 battle, in which you can hit enemies non stop as long as they are lined up. The only cons I have seen to the game is the instructions being a bit more clear, and there would be times where the camera angles were not ideal and you could not see anything, but other than that it is a amazing game and I highly recommend people who love mechs, hack and slash games to check this game out!
Katana Ramma is a game with a lightning-fast pace that is sadly beaten just as quickly. The visuals are flashy, the music slaps, and the gameplay is simple yet addicting. My only real issue with the game is its short runtime, and based on the other reviews, I'm not alone. But in a way that's a good thing, because it means that what we have already is great, we'd just like more of it. And the recent update is a great step in that regard. Toss a coin to your indie dev and check it out.
Boss fight is satisfying, especially for the final boss. Simple control but with high entertaining gameplay. High potential and definitely worth a few try to get higher score for each chapter. This game worth the price and looking forward to try any future games coming from the team.
Very short but fun fast paced game. Game play loop is pretty addictive going around mindlessly hacking and slashing. Artstyle is pretty nice low poly yet very nice with all the special particle effects. However, inputs at times can be very unresponsive.
Bought the game right after trying it at CF,the gameplay loop is really fun the lock-on system need a bit of work.Maybe let us change target mid battle so we don't accidentally hit the special enemy and breaking the flow. The other thing you can try maybe by letting player to change the lock-on indicator color.Had nothing to say other than that.Hope you guys keep on updating the game and looking forward for the next game
Zephyrihanna is a great singer, thank you for introducing her to me! Game is short and sweet. I would recommend it. Hard to justify 10 dollars, considering its short playtime, I personally got it on sale. I understand indie projects have to make back their investment in development, but 10$ price point is hard to justify, since the world itself is rather contained and limited. The mechanics and boss combat design is cool but I don't think that is enough to bring it up there. The gameplay loop isn't on par with say Superhot, another indie title with a minimal design but engaging gameplay. Maybe if more emphasis was put on making the grunts more challenging would be able to bring this game to the next level. I think 5 dollars would be more reasonable for a game like this, as it is. The price of a coffee, sounds like what this is worth, and I think it would end up resulting in more players, would help support future projects.
