Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 2 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Well, this is like a DLC for Kao 2, if you like Kao 2, try this.
I don't even care if this is one of the weaker entries in the franchise, this game's magical

Kao the Kangaroo: Mystery of the Volcano (2005 re-release), developed and published by Tate Multimedia, is a revived slice of early-2000s platforming that carries both the charm and the limitations of its era. Originally released at a time when mascot-driven 3D platformers were still finding their footing beyond genre-defining hits, this installment attempts to broaden the scope of the series with larger environments and a more adventure-oriented structure. The modern re-release doesn’t significantly overhaul the experience, instead presenting it largely as it was—making it as much a historical revisit as it is a playable game. The story follows Kao, the energetic kangaroo outfitted with his signature boxing gloves, as he becomes entangled in a crisis involving a volatile volcanic region. The narrative is simple and direct, leaning on the familiar “save the land from disaster” setup without adding much complexity. Dialogue and character interactions are light, serving more to move the player between levels than to build emotional stakes. That said, Kao himself remains a likable presence, embodying the cheerful, adventurous spirit typical of platforming mascots from that period. Gameplay centers on traditional 3D platforming mechanics, with players jumping across gaps, climbing structures, collecting items, and engaging in basic combat. Movement is generally responsive, and there’s a satisfying sense of momentum when navigating larger spaces. The game tries to mix things up with occasional variations, such as vehicle segments or unique level gimmicks, which help break up the standard platforming flow. Some of these ideas land well, adding variety and energy, while others feel underdeveloped and fleeting, never quite reaching their full potential. Level design is one of the more appealing aspects of the game. The environments are colorful and varied, ranging from lush islands to more hazardous volcanic zones, each offering a mix of linear paths and small exploratory areas. There’s a noticeable effort to encourage players to wander and collect optional items, giving levels a slightly more open feel than strictly corridor-like platformers. However, the overall campaign is relatively short, which limits how much these environments can evolve or surprise the player over time. Combat plays a supporting role but rarely becomes a highlight. Kao’s attacks are straightforward, relying on punches and simple combos to dispatch enemies that don’t exhibit much behavioral variety. Encounters are easy to understand but can become repetitive, especially since they don’t demand much strategic thinking. The game is clearly more comfortable when focusing on traversal and exploration, and the combat system feels more like an obligation than a fully developed feature. From a technical and visual standpoint, the game reflects its mid-2000s origins quite clearly. The stylized graphics still hold a certain nostalgic charm, with bright colors and exaggerated designs that fit the genre well, but the lack of modern refinement is noticeable. Camera control can be inconsistent, occasionally making jumps more difficult than they should be, and some animations feel stiff by today’s standards. The re-release preserves these elements rather than modernizing them, which can be either a strength or a drawback depending on how much patience a player has for older design quirks. The pacing of the game is uneven at times. Some sections flow smoothly, offering enjoyable platforming sequences and well-spaced challenges, while others introduce mechanics that feel abrupt or insufficiently polished. This inconsistency gives the experience a slightly fragmented feel, as if certain ideas were introduced without enough time to be fully refined or integrated. Combined with the relatively short runtime, it leaves the impression of a game that aimed higher than it ultimately achieved. Even so, there’s a certain sincerity to Kao the Kangaroo: Mystery of the Volcano that makes it easy to appreciate on its own terms. It doesn’t try to compete with the biggest names in the genre, but it does offer a competent and occasionally charming platforming experience that reflects the ambitions of its time. For players who enjoy revisiting older titles or exploring lesser-known entries in the platforming genre, it provides a worthwhile, if modest, adventure. In the end, the game stands as a nostalgic curiosity rather than a standout classic. Its colorful world, approachable mechanics, and lighthearted tone make it enjoyable in short bursts, but its dated design, limited depth, and uneven execution prevent it from leaving a lasting impact. It’s a reminder of an era when the genre was still experimenting and expanding, and while it doesn’t reach the heights of its contemporaries, it still has a place as a small but earnest part of that history. Rating: 6/10
