Reviews
I’ve tried the previous game to learn katakana and hiragana. So I bought 'Kanji Cats' to continue my Japanese learning journey! The cute cats and great practice methods really help things stick. For me, the typing mode works the best, and having 4 different game modes ensures I don't get bored while memorizing. The massive vocabulary list is awesome, and being able to choose exactly which kanji and vocab to study is a total lifesaver for my upcoming July JLPT exam. I really hope they'll add even more kanji in a future update, but I definitely recommend this game!
Really like this game. Since Chinese is my native language, I already know what most of the Kanji mean, but memorizing the readings has always been a struggle. So I don't really play the sushi box and similar kanji mode, but I really like the JLPT pronunciation and conveyor typing modes. Some might find the gameplay repetitive, but as an Asian, I'm built for this kind of drilling haha. It's basically how we learned characters as kids... hours of repetition. It takes time, but that's just what it takes to improve lol
Kanji Cats is a very enjoyable casual learning game, with a superb mixture of minigames. This is not a "well rounded" learning program and I don't think it is meant to be. What it does intend to do, it does extremely well. Bit by bit, the game gradually helps to build your vocabulary in a very intuitive, unique and fun method. Also, the developers are very responsive and promptly fix bugs.
More fun then the usual ways of learning Kanji and vocab like flash cards. Being able to filter out by levels to do revision or to learn new words is a huge plus !!
Adorable game which is a really fun way to drill kanji. I haven't really used the filter feature, so I started at the very beginning even though I know all those kanji like the back of my hand - it was a good way to get used to the gameplay. That said, I'll probably use more filters in the future for revision; I'm glad it includes that feature. Each round only takes a few minutes, so you can get in as much per day as you want! And I love the gachapon feature and using those to decorate my game!
Fantastic game. Has been helping me learn the one thing I have been seriously lacking in my understanding.
