Is what it says it is and does a good enough job at both things it sets out to do; be a decent enough puzzle game and teach a jump off point for learning Japanese.
I think this is a good game but some levels is too hard to get Golden Coins. Pros: Learning Hiragana and Katakana easily Playing like Alchemy from Popcap Games if you playing this game deeply Cons: Maybe lacks Customised Level Mode; and no story mode. If you setting unlocking all levels and passed some levels, you might caused the bug when disabled. Points: 8.5/10 and 88/100
Cannot get enough of this game!! I was super lucky and got a chance to beta test the game and I've been continuously excited by the ever growing mechanics, new worlds and the new Kana you meet along the way. My knowledge of Japanese was limited to 2 years at high school and it was both a nice refresher to remember the language and also a tricky puzzle game to boot. Please give the game a try regardless of your Japanese skill level.
Super cute and fun! The music an animation work is great and the game really easy and user friendly. The pixel art is so detailed and beautiful too. You can t!ell there's a lot of dedication that went into this. I find that even after a I long period of gap between playing I've still got some of the Kana memorised too so I can say this is definitely a great learning tool to try and memorise Kana. A must have!!!
It’s a decent game with beautiful pixel art.
The gameplay remains entertaining even if you already know the Kana, thanks to the engaging puzzle element. However, there’s no visible option to quit the game (other than using Alt+F4), and exiting that way doesn’t save your progress. Having to redo the same puzzles just to return to where I left off wasn’t enjoyable. The lack of an exit button and broken save system really hurt the experience, so I’m giving it a 5/10.
It's a puzzle. I didn't want to puzzle while learning, I just wanted to learn. Boring.
Play this if you're just looking for a nice puzzle game. Marketing it as a beginner tool to learn kana is kind of false advertisement. The game is full of gimmicks and distortions to make rules work (like altering shi to si). Want to learn Kana? Grab a sheet, write 5 of them. The next day, write all the previous ones, and the next 5 ones. Repeat until you reach the 46th, and do it for both Hiragana and Katakana. Start from scratch for a few times if necesary. Want to remember Kana? Make some flash cards, and guess X random Kana everyday. It'll be MUCH more effective this way. Other than that, it's a good, yet frustrating little game. Frustrating because you have to guess the EXACT combination to earn a gold rating, and some mechanics are just a pain (especially the glass tiles) and the music gets a bit repetitive after long sessions.
遊戲到了後期,頗吃腦力 不是五十音難記 而是移動卡片的邏輯計算頗困難
puzzle game che ti insegna il giapponese. molto originale
This is a really cool idea for a game and I was really enjoying it, especially as I've been learning Japanese... but I can't recommend it because it doesn't save your progress! There's no save button - there's not even an exit button so you can only close the game by alt-F4-ing out of it. When I opened it for the second time and continued where it was saying I was up to, I realised I already completed some of the levels. Then I realised that it was even worse than that - despite going back to all the levels in world 1 to get gold medals, and getting the achievement saying I'd done so, I still had a load of silvers and bronzes. So I went through and got all gold again, closed the game, and sure enough, next time I opened it, I'd lost them again. So I just had one final go - I completed all of world 2 in gold and all of world 3 bar a silver in the last level (but still got the achievement for all gold as it gives you that on the second to last level for some reason). Closed the game... and it's reset me all the way back to halfway through world 2. So I won't be bothering to play it again because there's no point if it doesn't save. It's really disappointing because I really liked the concept of the game as both a fun puzzle and a learning tool and some of the mechanics make it really interesting, but until they fix this saving issue it's not playable unless you sit there and do the entire game in one sitting.
