Charming, stylish, funny, and mechanically unique. I came in with reasonable expectations and had them consistently exceeded. It is clear a great deal of thought was put into this game. Highlights: -Stylish visuals, with differing art styles used strategically to represent different concepts in the game. You have live-action news broadcasts, old public domain movies, pixel art, and animation with both a messy lineart style and another reminiscent of old flash/mspaint animations. -Interesting gameplay, you don't often see a really unique idea done right the first time. Kaiju Wars turns a standard concept consistent in every grid-based strategy game on it's head: You want to sacrifice units. Delaying the enemy and dealing as much damage as you can is more important than keeping an individual unit alive, and that really challenges your instincts if you are a veteran of the genre. -Replayability, I've only played a few hours so far, but it's clear a good amount of effort was put in to make the game replayable. Winning the mission isn't the end, you take a "victory lap" after clearing a level, allowing you to challenge yourself (or others on the online leaderboard) to see just how far you can get. I have one piece of criticism; when attacking a kaiju with a unit that is able to attack from it's current square, drawing a path to another square and then clicking the kaiju attacks from your current position, rather than the position you drew the path too. I understand this is a very specific gripe, but I bring it up to illustrate just how little there is to complain about here (and I happen to be very good at complaining). Overall it creates an excellent standard to aspire to as a game dev.

Good blend of Advance Wars and Godzilla. Reminds me of Godzilla 2 on the NES which I think is a bit underrated.
The games good but repetitive, some levels just are poorly designed such as the one where you use a radar and have no units to defend the labs against the monster. You have to hope RNG works in your favor to beat that level and it took a hour or so which is longer than i spent on most levels. Best menu out of any game with free movie links !!
i love this game but they need to fix the U.F.O. the bug where you can end the turn is annoying
King of the Monsters? More like the King of Value! This game is always on sale for just a few bucks and it's overflowing with content. The gameplay is pretty solid but it really requires you to rethink just about everything you know about strategy games...your troops are hopelessly outmatched against their Kaiju foes and are only there to buy time for the real heroes...the egg heads in the lab! I do have a few nitpicks (I really wish you could preview your project deck before normal missions) but overall this is a solid pick up.
On the surface, this would appear to be just up my alley but in practice, it's a frustrating experience. Visually it looks great, some nice presentation but its drowning in annoying dialogue that adds nothing. Just couldn't bear it any longer.
Bought the game because it looked similar to "Into the Breach". This game is very slow and repetitive, nowhere near as fun as "Into the Breach".
