Interesting idea for a dating sim. The art , characters and music are cute and cozy. However gameplay and story wise, Kaichu is too simple and gets very repetitive very fast. The characters have pretty much the same route aside from some art and dialogue changes. Maybe if there was more content such as more character/story development, events/minigames unique to each character and/or unlockables, Kaichu would be more enjoyable.
It's cute, but the gameplay is repetitive and not that interesting. Each question has a bad, good, and great answer. You have to guess what answer is appealing to your date based on their physical traits and what you learn about them as you interact. That somewhat describes any dating sim, but good ones (e.g., Five Dates) have nuanced questions & answers. The interaction is too simple here.
I am not 100% sure why I bought this game, to be honest. I guess it's because a queer curator (queerator?) recommended it, since you can be feminine while dating another femme, etc. also it's cute kaiju and Gigachu is adorable! Turpio is great, too. this was a lot of fun and pretty unique. the gameplay is very simplistic, but still enjoyable. I didn't really know what to expect going in, and the game didn't have as much of a story or plot as I was hoping, but I still had fun getting all the achievements and dating the different kaiju. editing to add: nvm lol it was a furry curator, but I still like that you can choose your own gender/pronouns, and the characters have diverse pronouns too.
I enjoyed playing Kaichu, the cutesy artstyle and the concept are really good. Sadly it gets repetitiv after a few dates , the questions and the story are all the same. I wished that they played more with the idea they had for example maybe if there were like events/minigames for each character or paths that lead to a good/neutral/bad endings. Overall maybe a 6/10
It's cute, but shallow. It feels more like a Tinder match for a quick hook-up as opposed to being a dating sim. Characters are fickle. You need to get the best answer nearly all of the time. I played through one ending with Tephra. Animations are cute. The questions asked are answered by best guessing what the character would like. Tephra is a volcano, so things related to volcanoes are usually the right answer. It's shallow, so, so, shallow. And while that first run was ok, it was ok in the most minute of ways. It's like sitting on the couch casually watching Netflix while you doom scroll on social media. It's just a way to pass time. The gameplay loop is similar if you choose someone else. From a dating sim perspective this is woefully absent of the things that typically make this genre enjoyable.
Жалко в стиме нет нейтрального отзыва. Игра на 1 раз, мило, с юмором, но ничего бы не потеряла, если бы не купила эту игру ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Chu chu fall in love?
Kaichu stands out because of its unique concept: A dating sim featuring giant monsters. The art style is charming and quirky but also a bit unpolished. The writing can be humorous but there is not much of a story and it gets repetitive fast (esp. if you are a completionist but, thankfully, there is a dialog skip). It shows concepts of love languages, shared/opposing interests, and explores relatable themes like self-acceptance and finding love in unexpected places. And that's basically why I can recommend it. Sure you could read a book about those things (and you are most certainly better off), but if you are a gamer you could also pick-up this and schmooze instead of battling your enemy (as it is usually the case) for a bit. 6/10
Just a silly, cute dating simulator that I love. A plethora of pronoun options are available to the player, and the love interests (kaiju) are diverse in that respect, too. There's also neurodiverse representation and an ace-friendly route. Fun rom-com tropes are in play, and the game has a great sense of humor.
Be forewarned if you're planning to play this using mouse and keyboard that the game is unplayable. An action as basic as making it to the main menu is impossible as the game does not recognize the default US keyboard layout, pretty wild.
