Very short (under 3 hours with a couple peeks at a walkthrough when I felt hopelessly stuck), decent point-and-click. Could do with a slightly better UI (e.g. the inventory being a grid or a window rather than a single bar considering the number of items you end up lugging around) and more consistently implemented encyclopedia (of food; in theory, you can point it at anything food-related and get a description in the book or a comment from the protagonist, but many perfectly edible ingredients are completely dismissed as non-food, e.g. a rabbit).
Wonderful point-and-click game, funny, relaxing. Like the old Sierra classics. Voice acting was good! characters wre nice, Story was entertaining as well. Might have been a bit longer, but after all, it's only the first episode. Liked the semi-ending, great touch! (Oops! am i spoiling?) Will definitely buy the second episode!
A very good game!
If you used to enjoy the classics like Monkey Island, you will love Joyfess. It´s well written, it has nice puzzles and a great sense of humour. The art work is beautiful and the voice acting is superb! I would have liked it to be longer, so I really hope there is an Ep.2.
Surprisingly great game! Fantastic graphics, spot-on voices and nice puzzles. Thumbs up! If only there would be more of the story... guess we can't but hope!
J'aurais bien aimé ce point'n'click mais il est aussi laid que peu intéressant.
Awesome story & fantastic voice actors!
It's a decent point and click game for Curse of Monkey Island fans, which it's trying to emulate. That's not a bad thing. The game is funny, but nothing laugh out loud funny. I enjoyed the puzzles, and the story was different, even if it's a bit odd. But a couple of the reviewers complaining about the story weren't paying attention. It's not as bad as they think it is. The game took me two and a half hours to finish. For the sale price of 6 that I paid for it, that's adequate. Any price higher would be too high. The voice acting is decent except for Joyfess. His voice is a bit annoying, but you get used to it. They did an excellent job with the sound effects in the game. But I wished they would have expanded on a few things. At one point, you have to figure out who sabotaged you, except it took me two seconds to figure that out. But you have to play along anyway and then be shocked when it happens. Joyfess didn't talk to enough people for it to be anyone else than who it was obviously going to be. You also don't talk to everyone in the game. There are two kids by a fountain I wanted to interact with, but you can't. Later you find a message in a bottle, which I'm pretty sure is from them. But even after finding the message, you still can't interact with them. It's not crucial to the game, but little details like that would flesh out the game more and make it longer.
Okay Monkey Island Vibes worth a punt if on sale
