About
Joy Malignant is a short, surreal dice-based RPG where your past is a tool. In a cursed city filled with suffering, your past shapes your skills and your appearance. Survive the city's hellish trials, meet tortured characters, and develop your own unique indentity. Every choice matters as your actions will literally shape you.
In Visceria, your appearance is shaped by your past. As a faceless, your past has been erased. Through surviving in this hellish city, you will meet characters and make choices that will shape you, developing your personality, appearance, and abilities.
Manage your resources, use dice to perform actions, and play to your personality's strengths to survive in the city. Do what you must to survive, and try not to lose yourself in the process.
Everyone's appearance is shaped by their past. Meet tortured characters and analyze their history by seeing their Mosaic, then use it to your advantage.
Your mosaic starts out empty, then is shaped by your experiences. As you make choices, you will gain more parts of yourself. This will afffect your stats and abilities, as well as your appearance. Be careful, you can't change the past after its happened!
Life in Visceria is twisted and painful, especially for a faceless like you. Try to hold onto your sanity while frequenting dirty ruins, slaughterhouses, decrepit bars, bloody hospitals, and more.

Good and short game that tells a focused story following Citizen Sleeper's game design and narrative beats. The art is weirder than the world and its themes, stylish.

One of the best and most interesting games I've played this year. Solid writing, minimal but savvy presentation that manages to do a lot with a little. Hoping it gets the recognition it deserves.

incredible game, genuinely one of the better things ive played, i loved it so much and am so excited to see what they make next only "criticism" id have is the length and maybe the ending, i didnt mind either in any way but i could see how someone might. the ending is by no means bad but just maybe not as fleshed out as the rest of the game, but i liked it. i got all of the achievements rather fast but am also a fast reader and didnt read the dialogue on my second playthrough (and didnt finish it once i got all of the achievements) all in all atleast 2 hours of playtime, which for the price and quality of game i dont think is unreasonable
When I grow up I want to be like Nibb. 10/10 story with interesting characters, amazing visually stimulating narration and art that perfectly complements the themes found throughout. Gameplay is simple but addicting, character interactions feel real and intimate in the best ways. This game is a must-buy.
Lovely little game, Was able to complete it in an afternoon, but it's central idea about whether or not our pasts define us is going to stay with me. Some parts of it were more challenging than others – particularly early on, 1 or 2 of the deadlines are tight, but the game seems designed to ensure there are multiple ways to complete your objectives, and the characters you’ll meet are memorable Well worth the price of admission
Joy Malignant is a fascinating game of identity and community, about who we were, are, and will be, and how we can, and sometimes cannot, choose this. It's short and small, owing a lot to Citizen Sleeper, but a wonderful exploration of people and their struggles amidst a judgemental society. The stories are all human. Being human is all we can count on.
If you like Disco Elysium you will like this!!!!
I absolutely loved the story and themes in this, living in a world where someone's actions physically alter their appearance & places are shaped by what has happened inside them. can't wait to see whats next from this dev.
A tight and thought-provoking experience. Recommend
