This is a one-dimensional VR game. Your first impression of every character is accurate, not because you are prescient, but because each character is inspired by an over-used trope. They will not deviate from their trope. This includes entities like The Empire, The Foundation, and a Pagan-like culture, the name of which I'm too bored to remember. The writing could have been generated by ChatGPT and the visuals are uncomfortably close to PS2-era. The game offers kinda-branching dialogue choices, but they shouldn't even bother. Whatever it is you think someone is going to say is an accurate prediction. Not too surprisingly, the lazy writing makes use of a power. Let's call it The Force, because the writers of this game abuse it in the same way Lucas Film uses the Force to make the plot go in directions it couldn't logically go otherwise. Sometimes the Force can be used to do this one thing, which would be a very useful thing to do in many situations, but it isn't used in those situations because then the game would end in Chapter 1. And then in the final moment of the game the power is used to do something completely out of left field. The development time must be 0.8 Star Citizen units long, because the game uses GUI elements that developers had rejected before the Occulus Rift became the Quest. You can toggle invincibility in combat by strafing left and right in a straight line, forever. Your firearm has no sights and the unadjustable angle of the grip makes a shotgun grip seem like a right angle. It seriously causes discomfort to my youthful wrists. No matter what your IRL height is, the game puts you at approximately 6.5 feet off the ground, and noticeably taller than all other NPCs (even though you play as a female.) This is jarring if, in real life, you are shorter than virtually everyone else, and your IRL feet float 18 inches from the virtual ground at all times. The game design is frustrating, and this extends especially into the puzzles which are both comically easy and impossible. They are of the "push this", "turn that" type of variety, usually to a single object, and as such they serve to waste time rather than challenge the player. But occasionally, the puzzles become unintentionally impossible. For example, there is this puzzle where you need to place the hand from a corpse onto a hand scanner. The corpse is adjacent to the scanner but, get this, the only part of the corpse that is a physics-based ragdoll versus a static mesh is the hand itself. If you are like me and your first inclination when seeing a corpse is bop it like a bobblehead, then you'll immediately determine that the corpse is a static mesh when your physical contact with its head has the same effect as if it were a wall. This rules out from your mind the entire branch of logic supposing the corpse, or a part of it, can be moved to solve a puzzle. Other frustrating game design choices include a strange insistence that many things should inappropriately be accomplished by pushing a virtual button. Need to gather crew members to a certain place? Push a virtual button. Need to navigate the game menus? Push a virtual button (with a freakishly gigantic and unwieldy hands that doesn't even align well with your IRL hand). Want to quit the game? Push a very small virtual button, twice. Do it rapidly or else you need to do it again. The game is also fascinated by spreading stuck doors open. For no reason at all, the game randomly places partially closed elevator-type doors in your path that you must slowly, every so slowly, spread with your hands. I've spread first dates faster than doors in this game. Now, you might think the slow door thing is to substitute loading times. No, we're not loading games from CDs anymore Grandpa. Or, to achieve a dramatic pause in the action? No. These occur during exploration segments of the game, or to more accurately characterize them, linear corridor walking simulations. Or, to create suspense when danger is near? Nope. The spreading door fetish is puzzling, unlike the puzzles. If Journey to Foundation nails anything, then it would be truth in advertising. This game literally ends when you get to Foundation. This is the only aspect of the game that defied my expectations, as it spent a good deal of words to impress upon the player how awesome Foundation is. My expectation was for Foundation to be the setting for the climax. Instead, it's figuratively the background for the credits. Rather than Journeying to Foundation, I suggest going anywhere else.
Journey to Foundation bietet genausoviel Aktion. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
Follow Third group
English: With Journey to Foundation, Archiact Interactive has created a story-based action adventure set in Isaac Asimov's world of Foundation. The former Quest and PSVR2 title has now also been playable on Steam for some time. Is it worth it? The fact that there are very few story-based adventures for VR alone makes it worth a look. Are there only pity laurels, or is Journey to Foundation a little gem, despite its mobile origin? Many gamers are eagerly awaiting narrative, in-depth titles, in VR such games are unfortunately very rare and often do not reach the quality we hope for. We play Agent Ward, a security agent close to the Empire, who becomes involved in the search for the Foundation and on whom the fate of the world will depend. It's a typical sci-fi set-up that clearly bears the hallmarks of Asimov, with lots of twists and turns, changes of perspective and important decisions to be made. The decisions we make as Agent Ward don't just drive the story forward, they also shape it. Every time we speak to an NPC, we can react in different ways, sometimes changing their perspective through our abilities and - even - changing their mood. This changes the plot in a way that gives the player a sense of freedom over their decisions. But we're not just chatting to people all the time. Journey to Foundation offers just as much action. There are plenty of gunfights, a few small environmental puzzles and exploration areas with burrs and so on. All elements fit in well with the story. The graphics have been slightly upgraded for the PC version, but you can clearly see their origins. However, the well told story and well implemented controls with gestures and head nods etc. are distracting, and for a quest title the game looks really good. The idea of multiple choice dialog is great, I like that sort of thing. The shootouts aren't the best, but they're not that distracting, and the enemy AI is a bit, well, embarrassing. Unfortunately, the angle of the weapons is not quite perfectly adjusted to the Index controller and we have to hold the weapon in a slightly unusual way or readjust the angle ourselves. The menu in Journey to Foundation is pitiful in terms of quests and not worth mentioning. However, there is the option to switch to left-handed, but this only affects the weapon hand, not the controls themselves. The puzzles are simple and don't get us flustered Journey to Foundation is an adventure with a strong focus on the narrative. However, interactions are well and appropriately integrated so that boredom is never an issue. Fans of Asimov's Foundation universe and lovers of good storytelling will enjoy it. 👀Moriar's Curator Foundation 🎊on my curator page. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
Follow Third group
Do not buy this game if your on index. The hand positioning is way higher than where your hand is, which I got used to, but I then got soft locked on the part where the game teaches you about keycards. every time I tried grabbing the card it always phased through the ground, making me reload from checkpoint, where it happens over and over.
A general advive for game developers: If you want to make an inclusive and representative game, that is a noble cause. I respect that. But you need to be aware, that your game will only appeal to a minority. It is not right to force gender ideology onto all players. You will rightfully receive resistance. Most players do not want to be confronted and be indoctrinated by an ideology while playing videogames. Players usually just want to have fun and not think about serious topics while playing videogames. Respect the players and don't use your game as a platform to spread your ideology. If you feel the need to appeal to the LGBTQ community, make a setting in the game to activate and deactivate such content. And give players the option to adjust their character to their wishes. I have this issue with this game. The game wants to appeal to the LGBTQ community by being representative and inclusive. -The main character is non-binary. -There is a transwoman character in the game. -There is dialogue about a lesbian relationship. -In one dialogue, gender neutral pronouns (xe/xem) are used, when refering to a specific person. These components of the story are not needed and are only inserted to make the game representative. That being said, it is only a very tiny part of the game. The game does not constantly annoy you with gender ideology. If you are interested in the game, don't be deterred by my review. The game is alright. But I cannot stand to be confronted with gender ideology in a game I payed for, without knowing it in advance. I would not have bought the game, if I would have known that. If you want to use a game as a platform to spread your ideology, mark the game accordingly, so people are aware of it, when they are thinking about a purchase.
Sad news about the studio behind this. I recently got to the PC version after its 7th June Steam release. It's a solid narrative experience in a great galactic setting. I enjoyed it, and will go back to.
The game is really good. For an old time adventure player like me, games like this are few and far between in PC VR
A lot better than I thought it would be as I dont normally like this genre of game - story focused with light puzzling and some action elements. It's very disconcerting hearing the same voice actor (François Chau) who played the arch villain Jules Pierre Mao in The Expanse. Environments are well designed with good atmophere. It doesnt feel like its just quickly been ported from Quest as things are high poly with high rez textures. VR hand/object interactions are also good and there are a lot of options to tweak comfort settings or reset height / belt position when switching between playing seated and standing. Only one bug so far with 1 enemy stuck in a wall, but it was easy to work around. Got this on discount and I feel like Ive got a bargain.
Sorry, I would have liked to enjoy the game, but the realization and gameplay are just too bad. It's a kind of interactive movie, with a few dialogue choices and actions to perform from time to time. Except that the graphics/art direction are so bad for a movie. An artistic choice should have been made rather than using realistic but ultra-low-res textures, this totally breaks the immersion, particularly for large-scale scenes. Actions aren't really pleasant to perform (I ended up using the "skip" option as much as possible), and the dialogue choices are poor. It feels like playing a game from the very early days of VR. It could have been much better with at least a few spectacular scenes (in the SF context, there was plenty to do) or a faster pace, but I got too bored to continue. A good point, however, is the dubbing in several languages.
RECOMMENDED!! A bit surprised at how GOOD this game is!! Contains game play elements from some of the best VR games to date. Give it a try, you wont be sorry.
Works on Reverb G2. Journey to Foundation is TellTale style VR adventure in the worst way possible. It has all of the drawbacks of this subgenre like inconsequential choices and bland gameplay, and none of the strengths, like compelling story or characters. I'll start with a very few positives: human models and animations are good, and voice-overs are professional, so character interaction part of the game is the only decent one. Also second half of the campaign is much better than the 1st, but even than it is not good enough to recommend. On the negative side of things: everything other than dialogue is horrible. Combat is ruined by unsatisfying weapons and dumb AI, stealth is basic and barely functional. Even exploration is not exciting due to lack of details in the environments and extremely small scale of everything. All puzzles are a joke, except for the hacking minigame that is just a dumbed down version of Color Connect VR. 2 especially insulting ones stand out: there is a part when you need to find and enter a code, and that code is literally written on the wall one step away from the keypad. And the other one was a Simon Says game with 3 non-repeating elements to open a temple door. Finally, JtF has very little to do with Foundation book series, other than a few names and terms. Even more, it openly and intentionally contradicts book's main idea, saying that player's action have changed the outcomes of centuries old historical processes.
