Quick Score: 4/5 Notes: Overall a great super meay boy style platformer. Extremely challenging speedrun times. Movement is a bit "heavy" at first but you get used to it and is generally very similar to SMB but with some extra mechanics in the form of a grapple, jetpack, and "phase" ability. There is lack of visual diversity which is unfortunate, would have been nice to see a bit more variety. There aren't multiple worlds with different aesthetics. You pretty much just have the Grey normal levels and the White hard levels. There is also kind of a weird speed bug/glitch where when you die while in the air either manually by resetting or to a hazard, you will retain your momentum when you respawn. I'm not entirely sure if this is intended or not because while it feels like a bug, some of the early par times I'm pretty sure are 100% impossible if you don't use this trick so I'm not entirely sure. It's a bit annoying at first, but luckily, while the par times still remain pretty tight throughout the game, aside from a handful of stages this glitch isn't required to hit the par time. Though it does help a bit and generally will save about 0.25ish seconds though it depends on the stage. For an estimate on difficulty, I can say it is for sure harder than Super Meat Boy by quite a large margin to 100%. It took me 21 hours and 9,126 deaths to get a 100% clear. I didn't bother going for the "100 under 100" achievement because that ♥♥♥♥ is way too hard. WARNING: Achievement hunters, the game has at least 2 broken achievements at the time of this review. The achievements for completing all X and Z levels specifically.

In the top 3 worst feeling platformers I have ever played (out of now 100+ easily), and for how precise the game is, there's no excuse for the game to feel this bad to play. The game is trying to be super meat boy, and has none of the innovation, zero charm, and feels way worse to play. There is basically no reason to buy this, even if you enjoy precision platformers.
Genre: -Precision Platformer Fit for me: -My fav genre, so perfect Pros: -Basic mechanics like moving and jumping feel really good. It's very sharp mechanically, and extremely responsive. It's comparable to the best in the genre. -Secondary mechanics like double jumps, grappling hook, laser shield, and jetpack were nice additions and add variety to the experience. Nothing is over-used and everything fits well w/ flow of the game. -Excellent execution of the platforming sections. Fun, creative, and challenging sections continually push the player to master the mechanics in order to survive. -Very consistent theme throughout. The devs didn't try to do too much. Every environment/platforming gauntlet makes sense w/i the context of the game. -Great visuals, animations, and overall aesthetic. The devs went the extra mile to make sure this game looked amazing across the board. -Perfect difficulty curve that makes it so rewarding when you finally complete a really tough level. This is a pure skill based platformer. If you are struggling, simply keep practicing and you will improve w/ time. If you complete a level, it's because you are good enough to beat the level and you now have the skill to do it again. -Tons of content. I'm only about 75% through the game and have just over 25 hrs so far. -4 unlockable challenges that add a unique spin to the platforming formula was a nice choice by the devs Cons: -The soundtrack is a bit limited; there aren't a ton of music options -Less accessibility options than other modern games in the genre, an assist mode would have been a nice addition. -This is a platforming purist, similar to N++ in that regard. There's no story, no dialogue, no exploration, so, if you aren't a fan of other platformers, you probably won't be a fan of this one. -Very steep learning curve similar to Super Meat Boy that may turn off less experienced players Thoughts: -I have had a great time so far and I'm excited to finish JMPR over the next couple of days. I was not expecting this level of quality and care. This is a must play for die hard platforming fans. It's an incredibly tough genre to break into w/ games like Celeste, Super Meat Boy, The End is Nigh, N++, Dustforce ,etc but JMPR is able to hold it's own against the very best. I really hope this game picks up traction and able to see the success it deserves. Consensus: -Excellent Game (Tier 2 and makes up 25% of my reviews). $20 is a steal for a game of this quality w/ the amount of content that it has. This is an easy recommendation from me, so give it a try when you get a chance!
How come this game doesn't have more visibility is a mystery to me... I never buy games with so few reviews, but thank god I did for this one. It's brilliant. If you're into hardcore precision platformers, this is a no brainer. Extremely difficult.
This game deserves more attention, just like Lantern Bearer. Mechanics are on point and level design is actually varied, the mechanic on which you have to focus varies regularly and brings some fresh air. I find the music pretty good aswell. Worth your money and time!
Many platformer games out there will claim to be "hardcore", but this one's the real deal. Players beware, this one is not for the faint of heart. Throughout the years, I've played many difficult platformers, and I'm usually able to 100% them without too much problem. However, this one really pushed me to my limits. Just when you thought you've encountered the hardest obstacles and nearly mastered the game, the next level makes you question your ability. You'll be going through the same levels many times before finally beating them, and some of the levels go on for quite some time. Finally, though, after 40+ hours and 10,000+ deaths I can finally say I've gotten to 100% completion of the game. Totally worth it. Having played many platformers, I can tell you that this one has a lot of polish to it. The gameplay is extremely smooth and responsive, so when you die you feel like it's your fault and not the game's. Also the graphics are really well done and have a certain style that feels high-quality and consistent. The soundtrack is really enjoyable as well. The gameplay is very similar to games like meat boy (even going so far as to call itself "meatlike"). You'll notice right away that the physics and gameplay are similar to that game, but it does add some extra things as well. There's power-ups such as a grapple, jet pack, and my favorite: the double jump power-up. In addition, there's an ability that lets you pass through lasers for a brief moment. This ability is really interesting and is fun to use once you get used to it. When you start the game, you'll begin with 67 levels (LVLS) already unlocked, and you can play them in any order. Don't be afraid to skip levels and come back to them as the order that you play them doesn't matter. After beating a LVL, you'll be presented with an XLVL, and beating that will give you a corresponding ZLVL. While the XLVLs felt tougher overall than the LVLs, the ZLVLs often felt easier or the same difficulty as the XLVLs. The ZLVLs do have an interesting gimmick where the level fades when you're in the air which makes it harder to complete, although many of them are nearly identical to the corresponding XLVL or LVL. It often felt like you were playing the same level multiple times, but I'm guessing this is what the developer had in mind as many levels share this pattern. In addition to the main levels, there's also a few challenge rooms you can unlock by collecting lighters throughout the stages. Each challenge room has a unique gimmick and has a more arcade feel to it with limited lives. From a pure platforming perspective, I would give this game an A+. Is it a great game overall? Absolutely. However, this game is clearly intended for people into hardcore platforming, and those who aren't willing to power through its difficulty will miss the majority of the level content. If you're looking for a casual platformer game and not into super difficult ones, it would be hard to recommend it with the $20 price tag. On the other hand, if you're one of those people who loves brutally difficult platformer games and can't get enough, I highly recommend it.
Good.
Great game! Awesome vibes
This game feels really laggy, even on my gaming PC. Not really a huge fan of this one in general.
