Challenging and fun. A bit addictive. I like that there are no micro-transactions associated with these games.

．nice visual appearance -- icons are fairly easy to distinguish ．adjustable difficulty -- suitable for casual / mindless OR challenge-loving players ．refined game mechanism ．a lot of stages -- normal, extra puzzle, extended, bonus, I personally also found it enjoyable in the intermediate processes of building wallpapers. The atmosphere and appearance of those environments and buildings are quite fascinating.

I have come back to Jewel Match Twilight 3 with the advent of another Halloween. I find the game just so atmospheric for this time of the year. I've actually already finished the game (including the extra levels) once, so this visit to the Twilight zone (not to be confused with the TV series) is just for fun and giggles. It's engaging enough to deserve another run through. I'm also leaving this review in the hope that it will encourage the developers to perhaps make a Jewel Match Twilight 4. I'd very much welcome that. Do yourself a favour and get this game.

No ads and no micro transactions are one welcome change. And having much larger levels (and correspondingly more moves) was an interesting change of pace. Since the game doesn’t rely on selling you items, there’s also no sprinkling of absurdly hard levels, either. Indeed, even on hard difficulty I was able to finish almost all of the first 40 levels without retrying (but I came close to losing several of them), so the difficulty seemed reasonable if a bit casual. But my rating is still pretty low. Why? Because the match-3 doesn’t feel very strategic and the gameplay rarely involves puzzling out what the best move is. In part this is because some of its common game dynamics are random – like what kind of bonus object you get for matching more than 3 items. Plus many levels rely on “atomic” charges, which randomly destroy nearby objects. Finally, while you can make combo moves, a good percentage of special mechanics (such as the “atomic charges”) are only activated by the initial match, not any following combo matches. I think it comes down to the game being designed for an ultra casual audience, and actively avoiding design choices that would encourage planning ahead and strategic choices. But those are the exact reasons I enjoy the match-3 genre; take those out and the result feels kind of like busy work. However, if you are looking for an ultra casual experience this game is well built, with pleasant graphics and sound, good touch screen support, and plenty of variety in level design. So while I don’t really enjoy it, I can see that others might, and I can still recommend it for that subset. Meanwhile, I’ll be sticking to mobile match three, OR for my desktop there is HuniePop and other similar games which perhaps surprisingly often have decently good puzzle oriented match-3 gameplay despite being aimed at the NSFW crowd.
