Game freezes whenever I enter a building. I can't really experience what it's like to be Jesus H Christ and I'm kinda sorta literally a little upset, so I punched a hole through my monitor. Thank dev.................. 4/10 Please fix the building stuck bug.
Jesus Christ Simulator is one of the more unusual indie projects available on Steam, offering an open-world experience that combines superhero action with biblical inspiration and modern social issues. Developed and published by Luke Gayson, the game imagines Jesus Christ returning to Earth with a mission that extends far beyond traditional storytelling. Instead of simply recreating familiar events from scripture, it places players in a fictional city overwhelmed by corruption, crime, greed, and demonic forces, challenging them to restore hope through miracles, compassion, and divine justice. The concept is undeniably unconventional, but its sincerity helps separate it from games that rely purely on parody or shock value. The game encourages players to use extraordinary abilities not only for combat but also to improve the lives of ordinary citizens. Helping struggling families pay their rent, eliminating financial burdens, assisting people in need, and rescuing victims from supernatural threats all contribute to the central objective of making the city a better place. This emphasis on kindness and generosity gives the gameplay a refreshing direction, making humanitarian actions just as significant as defeating enemies. Rather than rewarding destruction alone, the game consistently reinforces the idea that true strength lies in helping others overcome hardship. Action remains an important component throughout the experience. Players gain access to a variety of miraculous powers, including flight, devastating divine attacks, healing abilities, and other supernatural skills that can be used against demonic enemies spread across the city. The game also introduces visits to Hell, where players confront evil directly while attempting to rescue lost souls. These moments provide larger-scale action sequences that contrast nicely with the quieter acts of charity found throughout the open world. While the combat mechanics are relatively straightforward compared to major action titles, the variety of powers helps keep encounters entertaining and highlights the game's ambitious vision. Beyond its gameplay systems, Jesus Christ Simulator explores themes of morality, justice, and social responsibility. The fictional setting portrays a society consumed by corporate greed, inequality, and corruption, with players encouraged to challenge these problems through both miraculous intervention and direct action. The game's satirical tone occasionally surfaces through exaggerated scenarios and symbolic targets, yet beneath the humor lies a consistent message about compassion, generosity, and standing against exploitation. Whether players agree with every creative decision or not, the game clearly attempts to deliver more than simple action by encouraging reflection on the importance of helping others. Visually, the game reflects its status as an independent production created with limited resources. Character models, environmental detail, and animations lack the refinement expected from large-budget releases, and technical roughness is noticeable in several areas. However, the ambitious scope largely compensates for these shortcomings. The developer attempts to build an expansive sandbox filled with multiple gameplay systems, supernatural abilities, exploration, and interactive objectives, which is an impressive undertaking for a solo project. Players willing to overlook graphical limitations may find themselves appreciating the creativity and determination behind its development. The Early Access version also demonstrates considerable room for growth. Planned additions include more miracles, expanded cities, new story content, improved gameplay mechanics, enhanced destruction systems, and continued community-driven improvements. The developer is transparent about the unfinished state of the project and openly acknowledges areas that still require refinement. This honesty helps establish realistic expectations while giving players confidence that the game is intended to evolve substantially over time rather than remain static. Despite its originality, Jesus Christ Simulator is not without flaws. Certain missions can become repetitive after extended play, some systems would benefit from greater depth, and technical issues occasionally interrupt the experience. The open world, while ambitious, sometimes feels sparse, and several gameplay mechanics could use additional polish to fully realize their potential. Nevertheless, many of these shortcomings are understandable given the game's independent origins and ongoing development. The sheer originality of its premise often outweighs the rough edges, making it an experience unlike almost anything else currently available. Jesus Christ Simulator succeeds primarily because it commits wholeheartedly to an idea that few developers would attempt. By blending open-world exploration, supernatural powers, moral decision-making, and acts of compassion into a single package, it delivers an experience that feels genuinely distinctive. It may not satisfy players looking for technical excellence or blockbuster production values, but those who appreciate experimental indie games with bold concepts will likely find plenty to admire. With continued updates and refinement, it has the potential to become an even stronger example of how independent developers can transform unconventional ideas into memorable gaming experiences.
