About
New York City. July 2063. Four workers have gone missing somewhere in the Brooklyn Understructure, a maze of sewage pipes and abandoned passageways deep below the city streets. Genevieve Marconi, a mercenary with a taste for high-risk jobs, is hired to uncover their whereabouts.
As Genevieve, you'll have to fight your way through a horde of drones. Shoot them with energy blasts or smash them to pieces with your broom. Use volleys of missiles and powerful super moves to turn the tide of battle.
This is a spectacle fighter / shooter hybrid. There's third-person shooting and a fast-paced melee system, plus some extra metered abilities that you can use for big momentum swings in fights. Jenny's got a fairly complex combat toolset, and we hope you'll enjoy learning to master it.
Use Jenny's broom to navigate the treacherous chambers of the Understructure. The game has platforming. It's not too intense, but we wanted to put some in to show off the improvements we've made to our character movement (and also, who doesn't like airdashing over bottomless pits?)
Earn a high score by smashing drones with grace and swiftness. You can spend cash earned during your mission on upgrades and new abilities. Honestly, what else do you want to know? We've put a score system in all our games and this one's no exception. Do long combos to raise your score. Spend your score on new abilities (like special melee attacks, super moves, etc) so you can do sicker combos. You'll also be able to replay the game with your unlocks intact after beating it once.
This game isn't expensive. It's a few hours long, and it's got significant replayability via its difficulty options, scoring system, etc. This is a short game. Please buy this if you like short games.

This is a hecking awesome
A well done 3d beat-em up with some platforming! It's exactly what it looks like in the images, and it's a good time. The story was paced very well, I think it was just the right size for the length of the game.
Firstly, I finished the game on the Hard difficulty and found it quite enjoyable with some tense fights, the end boss is where I really felt my choice the most but learning its attacks and when you can go in to counter is key. Visuals and gameplay are good but some of the Hyper Attacks feel useless with long windups and too much vulnerability, thankfully the rest (especially the most expensive one) were crucial to overcoming tough fights. I did find myself wishing the music stood out a bit more, it's a bit too atmospheric for a game of this pace I feel but what's there is good. One playthrough took a little under 3 hours and that's ideal for a game at this scope, though I would like to see more from the devs on perhaps a larger project in the future. Overall, I recommend it, especially for the price.

Overall, I liked it! Played it on hard for my first run finishing with a silver rank and had a pretty good time. Probably going to keep going for a no death NG clear since I feel like I just kinda scratched the surface so depending on that I might change this review. A lot of what I enjoyed specifically is related to the audiovisual and atmosphere. I'm a sucker for a good descent into a progressively more abstract underground complex, even more of a sucker for mercenaries wearing exosuits. The robot and character designs are really cool, the sound design does what it needs to and the ambient tracks do a good job of selling the atmosphere. That said I found that the game sort of undermines itself a bit in terms of its combat design? Melee is nice and chunky, with hit reactions on light/medium enemies are nice and an interesting moveset based around animation cancelling out of endlag. But the lack of hitstun on any of the heavies made me just want to hang back and use the basic shot since meter is also my health/shield refill. The ranged attack itself is also just the best course of action in general for survival play in most encounters since the arenas are so big that I'd just be scootin' along then firing behind me. Now this wouldn't necessarily be a problem if shooting felt good but barring special attacks you kinda just spray orbs at enemies until they fall over. Though thankfully the bosses have enough going on to make just playing keepaway enjoyable with the sheer amount of stuff they throw at you. All my complaining aside, while not a super hearty recommend I'd still say it's worth playing as a fun slice of robot action.
A small action game with potential. The overall gameplay loop went smoothly and it was a very short experience for me clocking in at just two hours. The combat worked well enough for the game but I did feel like my options felt somewhat disjointed against the larger enemies. While I did have access to launchers and charge attacks, they felt limited when the larger enemies simply didn't experience hitstun. I suspect at least part of the idea here is to utilize the super attacks very aggressively, especially in the late game when swarms of enemies are coming after you. Overall, I think this game is worth checking out, and hope the mechanics are further explored or refined in future games from the developers
A hack and slash action game where you play a mercenary in a mech suit styled after a witch, hence the name of the game. This is a short experience, but contains no filler, and it flows effortlessly to the point where it's easy to finish in just one sitting. The enemy drones are varied, and its easy to tell them apart and prioritise targets in the heat of battle. The upgrades you can purchase are also sweet, with some devastating super moves that can turn the tide of a fight. Its also got a pumping soundtrack during action set pieces, but it also knows when to slow down during platforming challenges. It isn’t perfect, I feel like there is an input delay, especially with jumping and shooting, which I feel doesn’t quite fit a fast-paced action game, but the game is quite short, so that gripe doesn’t get the chance to build up into something more severe. All in all, I had a fun time with Jenny the Witch, and there is a plethora of additional challenges for after you beat the story, from combat challenges to plush hunting, so you can get even more out of it than I did. Lots of fun.
I'm torn here. I love the style, the combat, and the story has my interest piqued! The environments, use of shadow, and the general art direction are really appealing to me. The combo attacks feel good, the special abilities feel punchy, and the combo points system is fun to keep trying to keep going. I like piecing together tidbits of story between levels. I like this game a lot during the combat and exploration segments. But by god I cannot nail down this platforming. The way the camera moves, the odd timing, the collision, certain combo attacks are triggered if you click too fast (and proceed to fall to your death), and it all just sort of combines into feeling very bad. While I do appreciate the death leniency during the platforming, it still feels bad to fly off the grates for being a step too far away or not a high enough jump (and repeating that like 10 times). I hope I'm not just missing something that would make it feel smoother. (Skill issue I guess?) I still recommend the game because everything else is great! The combat really has me hooked and I'm looking forward to the rest of the game!
I got a code for this game for free from the Developers, to play on Twitch. Thanks again, yall :) That being said: Jenny the Witch is a super solid indie hack-and-slash for an incredibly reasonable price. Had I not been given a code & instead picked it up on my own dollar, I'd have been more than satisfied. Schmoovement & combat feel clean & satisfying. The combat system encourages frequent swaps between ranged & melee combat, and does so in a way that doesn't feel forced. There's plenty of interesting special attacks & such, which can be used to put together some really sick combos if yer clever. I played on one of the harder difficulties, and it felt for the most part reasonable. There was a section or two near the endgame that had me feeling a touch overwhelmed, by virtue of the number of enemies paired with the sheer relentlessness of one of the more special enemies. In hindsight, though, this probably could have been mitigated with some better combat decisions on my own part lol. Completing the campaign on one of the harder difficulties took me about 4 hours, and this was before the update that added some post-game replayability things. Edit: I completely forgot to mention: There's an Arena Mode, for those of yall who like that kind of thing ;) All in all, it's a great game. Well worth your time and money, in my opinion. Highly recommend.
Great visual aesthetic with the mecha witch vibes. Hard (but fun!) platforming and a decent variety of enemies. The hyper moves were hype with how op you felt using them.
This game is FUN. There's a good level of challenge—especially as things ramp up—but it is so satisfying. The VA absolutely slays with all of Jenny's efforts and lines, and the sound design is gorgeous. There's a great vastness to the underground, which really adds to the feeling that you're getting in over your head, and into something you hadn't expected to. The platforming is fun, and low consequence (which is good because I fell down—a lot, lol.) The combat is pretty unique, you've really got to nail down when to use what so you don't leave yourself vulnerable, and figuring out that rhythm is extremely satisfying. Oh, and Jenny's fit is ABSOLUTELY FIRE. Definitely pick up this game for a good evening, and loads of replay potential!
