Very fun game but don't come in expecting the perfect polish of a game as simple as Hotline Miami. Jackal does do a bit more for the series that makes it quite interesting for someone like me who absolutely loves these types of games, but a few of the design choices feel unnecessary. Mainly, the map randomization that applies even to the story mode. Not entirely sure why it's there from the start, especially when a significant amount of the joy from this genre comes from perfecting a strategy for each map that you can flow with from pure muscle memory. If Transhuman Design does happen to see this, I would like to say that I highly recommend having the randomization only become an option if you are doing a specific roguelike mode that's different from the story and if you beat the story and then do what Hotline did and add a "hard" mode which randomizes the maps. Regardless, the story really brings this whole game together. It's absurd, it's funny, the voice acting is great and the world building is fantastic. 100% worth picking up if you love ultra-violent top-downs.

Great game if you like hotline miami. very similar in gameplay. but the story didn't exactly grab my interest
