Like many reviewers here, I also almost stopped playing this game after just 1-2 hours. Too hard. Too random. Too many unit classes. Units too weak. Not enough room to build or create a legitimate maze. Etc. But I then decided to give it at least another try....And I'm SO glad I did!! 60+ hours later, I have never looked back as this game is rapidly becoming one of my favorite TD games ever! As I kept playing it, all the annoyances listed above initially going against it suddenly became interesting elements going in its favor. As you get to know the units (aka Towers) and get familiar with the various types and classes, and how powerful it is to add several units of the same types to the battlefield - or the immense power they gain when you upgrade them, the more you realize the so many tactical options available. The 'tiny' but yet varied maps for each of the many levels, strangely succeed in giving us a great freedom of placement, while yet forcing us to be quite strategic at the same time about how we will want to approach each round. And here's another 'tiny' tip for you: Yes trying to build the longest maze is sometimes the best way to go, but prioritizing pure firepower, regrouped around one or two ability-boosting "statue", is often a better option (
You're welcome!
). By offering a set of new units to choose from after each wave, the game plays very much like a deckbuilder but spares us the useless step of accumulating and reading cards in order to craft units and upgrades. Here, your "cards" are the units themselves. And the randomness with which they are RNG generated after each round gives the game some 'roguelike' flair while increasing its replayability, as even replaying the same maps will inevitably unfold differently each time. The graphics are beautiful and sharp and the game runs strong and well, with very good sound effects for each blasts, spells, and explosions, allowing us to fully enjoy all these action-packed tiny warzones without any bugs, crashes or issues (even on my old Windows 10 Asus ROG laptop). There are TONS of levels available too, so much so that after all the time I have already spent on it, I am not even sure I have reached the 50% mark of all maps available yet! Each maps consist of 20 short waves, taking on average 30 to 45 min to clear on normal speed and difficulty, making it the perfect time-killer when looking for a nice and short little game to play. But is also addictive enough to play hours on end...until realizing the little sounds you hear in the background are the birds because it is already 5 am (!) :/ Of course if the TD genre is not really for you, then this game certainly won't be either. But if you like the genre even just a little bit, I would say don't hesitate a 'tiny' bit. Especially at the current Summer Sale discount, it would be a shame not to give it at least a "tiny" try! ;p

The game is much too random with units, its fine for the first 10 waves but then the rng heavily shows. I looked and you can unlock more units to add even more randomness to the pool yay. Scouts can be placed off map but is very random depending on the kmap and there is no indicator of where they can be placed, you must drag a scout all over the map to see which squares they can be placed on. There is also an annoying delay after each map saying the season which can't be skipped. Units look similar and are hard to tell if you have duplicats placed already unless you pay close attention, can get screwed over when suddenly they merge and create a new path for the enemy and you didn't notice before starting the wave.
For such a tiny game that requires you to combine the same "tower" (knight / mage / etc) to make a level 2, this game has what appears to be an infinite number of "towers" that make finding 2 of the same, too much a frustrating experience.
its one of those games where the longer you play it you swear the RNG is out to get you. as soon as you try to go a certain build the game seems to actively avoid giving you units for the build you're trying to go. you'll spend all your money on rerolls to get nothing you want.
Great maze building TD, and this one is actually a maze builder, cant get as complex as Wintermaul but its good
Classic tower defense. The game doesn't hold your hand, but once you understand the types of problems the game can give you, they're not expecially difficult. A relaxing game.
I cannot for recommend this game as a good tower defense. There are so many big issues that they should have fixed months/years ago. Some of them are that there are so many different towers that trying to get the ones you want is not going to happen. If you are wanting a specific group/type of tower there is no way to highlight which ones are ones of the same group. This is needed since you only get one bonus credit from having specific amount of a specific type like 6 druids or 8 immortals. Originally, I was going to keep playing this game to just say I finished it but it is too repetitive with no feeling of satisfaction beating levels. I just came back form a 2 week work trip and was going to try and finish this and felt nothing but annoyance playing it. Again would not recommend. Edit: Forgot to add. Even at 2 times speed it takes forever for the enemies to even move. It is torture.
Fun character design, and animations. The waves are peculiar and offbeat. The class and upgrade system is relatively simple, but satisfying when you get rolls in your favor. Once you get all of the unlockable buffs the game gets fairly easy, even in nightmare modes. However if you need something to do while watching youtube or a tv show, it's perfect for low stakes multi-tasking.
Having just gotten the last achievement currently available for this game I have to say: I clearly greatly enjoyed it. I have a hard time describing specific things that make this game so much fun though. If I must credit anything it is the game's simplicity and focus. This game has very little to distract from a satisfying core tower defense loop. Refresh the shop, pick the right person, place them in the right place. There's enough complexity in the ways the many towers interact to maintain a nice fast flow state effect without distractions to break you out of said loop. On top of that the towers here are characters which are juuuuust personable enough to be memorable without being so overdesigned as to get in the way of the core gameplay. I wouldn't say Tiny Tactics is, or is trying to be, perfect. Honestly, despite usually feeling the other way, this is the rare game I would LOVE to see a sequel to. The foundation here is rock solid. But there are many tweaks, balances, level design details, and quality of life improvements that could push this base up to "one of the indie greats" levels quite reasonably. If someone ever does make a sequel though I beg you to retain as many of the characters as you can, I've grown rather attached to a lot of them!
